About the property

4 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms - Ocean Views & Garden!!!

If your group is a big family and want to spend a spectacular vacation, this unit is for you. With 4 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms, it is ideal for up to 8 guests and each one can have their own bed. In Penamar, not all the units have garden, but in this one, you have the double space compared to a 3 bedroom-2 bathroom units.

We have a bar with stools and a BBQ near the garden area. This is a plus for big family reunions.

Pena Mar Ocean Club is a privileged boutique condo development located on the east coast of Puerto Rico on road 987 across from Villa Marina. The town of Fajardo is just 30 miles and 40 minute drive from the San Juan International Airport. This area is considered to be a largest port in Virgin Islands which sailors use as a jump point to the Virgin Islands.

The apartment consists of 4 Bdrm, 3 bathroom which are fully furnished, bed and bath linens, beach towels, soaps and kitchen utensils. Air conditioners in all bedrooms. TV connected to Direct TV Card.

Pena Mar Ocean Club is a fully secured community with guard station that is occupied 24 hours a day. The unit is located at the second floor which is perfect for tenants with handicap as you would not need to take an elevator or stairs. 2 free parking spots for you and your guests.

The unit enjoys Granite counters, Bidet, Huge Balcony across from Villa Marina and partial Ocean View. Pena mar is the most desired location in Fajardo because of its boutique Resort Style design.

Pena Mar Ocean Club features its own emergency power generator and water cisterns which are useful in case of power/ water outage. We haven’t had a chance to experience a power or water outage because of this useful feature. Many other condo developments suffer water and power outage. The Condo development enjoys 3 Pools (One shaped like a boat, an Infinity Edge Pool with a Jacuzzi and one with a built in slide which the kids love. For those of you who like to exercise, a full gym, basketball courts and tennis court are available.

Apartment is located 5 minutes drive from 7 Seas Beach, 20 minutes drive to El Yunque, the only tropical rain forest protected by the U.S. National Forest Service, 5 minutes to 'El Conquistador Hotel (Great Golf and restaurants). 15 minutes from Luquillo Beach. We are located across the street from Villa Marina, where a wide range of sailboat, catamaran charters, boat rentals are available to take you on daily trips to the cays for snorkeling. Puerto Del Ray marina (a largest marina in Virgin Islands) which is 15 minute drive from a condo offers additional day sails (Erin Go Bragh Charters is highly recommended because of small size group -6 people only) to neighboring island as well as Culebra. For a picture perfect beach a day trip to Culebra is a must. A ferry, which is 5 minute drive from a condo, will take you to Culebra (one hour and a half ferry trip) where cab drivers for a relatively small fee of $2.25 pp one way will take you to a one of the consistently top rated beach in the world called Flamenco beach. If you like camping, you can camp at the Flamenco beach camp site. For the best snorkeling on Culebra walk to the other side of the parking lot where cabs dropped you off, cross the fence and within 15 minute walk you will be at Carlos Rosario Beach. Beside world class snorkeling this beach will let you enjoy the best of what Culebra can offer in a private setting.

Don’t want to ride a ferry to Culebra the Seven Seas beach is very near, the 316-acre Las Cabezas de San Juan nature preserve which features a lighthouse that has been in continuous operation since 1882. Seven Seas is a lovely, small, crescent-shaped beach, with soft sand and almond and palm trees that provide some protection from the sun. The views are fantastic, just beautiful to look out at the water and see the lighthouse in the distance. Water is blue and beautiful. There is a coral reef some distance from the beach, making a natural wave break. If you want to park your car in the street right next to the Nature Reserve, walk toward the beach, turn right - you will see another half a mile of deserted part of the Seven Seas beach. Further you walk less people you will see. On the weekday you will be the only couple on the beach. This is another reason why we like to stay away from Luquillo beach as there are always people around. If you like privacy you will like Seven Seas beach. After couple of hours on the beach few food kiosks down the road will provide much needed snack, cold beer or a chilled coconut will sure hit the spot. We enjoyed this local beach spot more then a dozen times and always found that locals are extremely friendly and courteous.

Fajardo is well known for its excellent day sailing, snorkeling and diving. The day-sailing trips normally take you to one of the nearby cays for a day of snorkeling, sun bathing and feasting (food and drinks are included in a fair). For the divers, there is excellent clear water all around the cays, with plenty to explore. For a nocturnal trip in the Bio luminescent Bay is a must (make sure you go on a day with no moon). Of course, the seafood in this area is fresh and delicious. La Mina falls at El Yunque Rainforest offers a romantic waterfall swimming after a hike in the most pristine rainforest anywhere in the Caribbean.

While visiting Puerto Rico you can visit: Cavernas De Camuy (Caves located at Camuy) as well as Arecibo Observatory where they filmed James Bond Golden Eye, Luquillo (a beach with many local food options right at the beach where we highly recommend La Parilla and Ceviche Hut as well as Fruitty World (a colorful smoothie stand) – smoothies will knock your socks off in terms of presentation and taste), Fajardo (day sailing to the cays of Icacos, Palominos and Palominitos).

If you are in the market for a vejigante mask at discount price a trip to Ponce is a must. All the papier-mâché vejigante masks you see at Old San Juan shops are made by local artisans at Ponce where you can grab one for half the price of what the retailers sell it for. While hunting for masks a newly renovated Museo de Arte de Ponce is a must see which features a largest Art museum in the Caribbean. Car rental is needed to help explore various areas of interest as well as shopping.

Puerto Rico has it all and our unit is conveniently located nearby all of these points of interest. So what are you waiting for, book with us so you can enjoy the best of what Puerto Rico offers and brag to your family and friends about the great time you had while staying with us. We are looking forward to hear from you. Please email us for a fast quote as well as last minute specials.

Not impressed

  • 1 of 5

After doing and extensive research our group decided to go with this property even though some reviews where not favorable but I was assured that all the issues had been corrected for example the smell of mildew and the broken ac in the bottom unit. To our dissappointment when we went to inspect the apartment not only smelled like mildew the ac unit on the lower level had a hole on the power button. I was assured the unit would work with the remote control but that wasn't the case. The unit had to be replaced finally on our 4 day of our stay which left us having to use only the upstairs level for 3 1/2 days. To add insult to injury the broken unit was left there. The apartment was not clean properly even though the unit had been vacant the week before. Floors where sticky, kitchen floor had grease and food particles as well as the edge of the door in the dishwasher. The mildew smell was masked by air fresheners, walls had dark stains as well as the bathroom door on the upstairs master which actually looked like and old spilled that was never cleaned and left to dry. The wall plug in the upstairs master was simply hanging out of the wall and was very afraid to use it. For a group of 8 people we where left with one set of keys when the door is only able to lock with only with the key since there's no dead bolt, needless to say we had to do our best to stick together as a group since there was no other way to lock the door. This is our 4 stay in Peña Mar and this has been the worst experience with a property. In all fairness I will say that a small portion was refunded for the ac unit being broken but that was not enough considering we where not able to use the lower master for 3 1/2 days. I wish I was able to upload the pictures I took as prove of the incidents I encounter. In the end if this property would have been properly inspected before our stay I feel most of this issues could have been taken care off. First and last time I will rent this property.

Pleasant stay

  • 4 of 5

The condo was in a great location. It was spacious, with great views of the ocean. It fit 3 couples comfortably. It was nice and quiet. The exterior property was well maintained. The condo itself just needs a little more upkeep. It could use some light repairs. The shower head was broken in one bathroom and had to be replaced. There were some cracks in the walls. Overall it could have been a little cleaner. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this property to others.

Great property, great location!

  • 4 of 5

My family of five adults stayed at this condo over the Christmas holiday. Despite the initial disappointment of not being able to use the downstairs space due to mold left by an exploded pipe, we had a very nice time (the owner did refund us some money since we couldn't use that 4th bedroom). Carmen, the property manager was very quick to respond to our phone calls and text messages before and during our stay regardless of how big or small the concern. She really helped make the trip easy and smooth.

The condo was very clean upon our arrival which is always a good sign and the photos very accurately depict the property. The kitchen was well stocked with all the necessary tools for cooking which we did frequently (it was nice having the Econo and Walmart a 15 minute drive away). We enjoyed playing tennis (there are 3 rackets at the condo), going to the pools (there are three to choose from), and going to Playa Luquillo, Seven Seas, and Vieques (there are now 5 beach towels available). We loved having two private outdoor areas where we could read and drink coffee in the mornings, and where we could grill at night. Even though we couldn't use the downstairs bedroom, there was sufficient space for all of us, and it never really felt like we were on top of each other (though my brothers certainly would have preferred to have their own rooms!).

The one challenge, and this has been mentioned in other posts, is that the two rooms with all of the bunk beds feel more like barracks then bedrooms. There are closets with hangers which was useful, but there are no dressers or drawers, there are no benches, night stands, or lamps. Maybe this is ok if the rooms are filled with children, but for adults, it is slightly inconvenient and uncomfortable for a full weeklong stay. The master bedroom and the bedroom downstairs have these small conveniences, but it would be nice if all the rooms had the same basic amenities.

But overall, we really enjoyed our stay, and would definitely recommend it to friends and relatives! Thanks again, Carmen!

Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely amazing time!!!! Easy check-in and leaving. The condo is wonderful! having a separate area downstairs with full bathroom/bedroom! And outside patio area with gas grill!!! So close to many beaches, local dining (love King Seafood in Luquillo), bars, and grocery shopping! Right by Marina for wonderful catamaran day trip! Only 15 minutes from rain forest. There were total of 8 of use - never felt crowded. Carmen (the unit manager) - SO NICE and easy to work with!!! We will definitely be back!!!!

ONLY complaints - or not complaints - recommendations for spoiled American - need TV's in master and downstairs. AND - biggest - the actual property management (not Carmen) is so strict about silly stuff that does not even make sense. Nothing to hold me back from returning over and over (this is my 4th time staying at Pena Mar - but best experience overall)!!!!

Fun filled weekend

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we were greeted by Ruth, who gave us a tour of the apartment 'til the time we left it was a pure bliss. The apartment, linen and towel were all sparkling clean, (most important thing in our list). And we had everything we needed in the kitchen, when we decided to make breakfast or dinner. There are lots of things to do close by. We visited Las Cabezas de San Juan (reservation needed) and went to the beautiful Seven Seas Beach. On Sunday evening we went kayjaking to the Bio Bay, an experience hard to top. One of our friends from MI. said it's the closes he'll get to a Harry Potter scene. When we weren't out discovering places or local eateries we were enjoying one of the three pools or relaxing in the balcony taking in the beautiful view. All in all we hope to return there.
