Why Hans & Norma chose Archuleta County

When we first visited Pagosa Springs we fell in love with the majestic mountains and the friendly nature of locals. We decided to build a log lodge here so our family could enjoy the wonderful surroundings and all the healthy activities such as biking, hiking, rafting, horse riding, cross country skiing, fishing etc. We enjoy sharing our cabin and it surroundings with a diversity of guests and so we have set base rates for the main lodge cabin to be affordable to smaller families with 6 or less guests and at the same time accessible to larger groups via an additional fee per person per day. The property is idea for families and friends who wish to make lasting memories in this luxury custom build lodge cabin.

What makes this Lodge unique

We are surrounded on 3 sides by the San Juan National Forest, on the continental divide, in the beautiful Colorado Rocky Mountains. Just 30 minutes away is the Wolf Creek Ski Area providing a world class skiing experience and the most snow in Colorado! The town of Pagosa Springs is located just east of here and is home to the Pagosa Hot Springs, the deepest and largest natural hot springs in the world nestled beside the San Juan River providing a a perfect respite after a day of outdoor adventure. Nearby is Chimney Rock National Monument (the newest in the U.S.) providing an archeological adventure into the history of ancient civilizations that occupied our area. Other attactions include the Southern Ute Indian Reservation and its Sky Ute Casino and Resort. Durango, Colorado is 60 miles west and is home to the historic Durango-Silverton narrow guage railway, Fort Lewis College, and the Durango/La Plata County Airport which offers commercial airline service to major cities and international connections. Also not far away is the 25 mile-long Navajo Lake which offer many water sport and boating choices. This area of the country also allows access to many attractions within a day's drive, such as Great Sand Dunes National Park to the east and Mesa Verde National Park to the west. We have found that our guests enjoy the remoteness of being in the mountains and away from it all including associated distractions of daily life and as such, although we do provide WIFI and access to movies on Netflix, Amazon etc., there is no live TV on the property.
