It is nestled in between the Blue Ridge mountains and the Shenandoah river. Sleeps up to eight comfortably. There are 3 bedrooms, a family room with a reclining couch, Kitchen, 2 full bathrooms, and a utility room with washer and dryer. Enjoy grilling on the back deck after you and yours spend a day on the river fishing, tubing, canoeing, swimming or just relaxing. You can follow the path down to the Shenandoah River for fishing, swimming, and tubing! Your private riverfront hangout spot is over 800 feet long! We have two fire pits (one by the river and one beside the back deck) for a night of S'mores. You can even pitch a tent and sleep along the river!

About Chrisi Duman

This home renovation has been a joint effort for two brothers and their wives who have been in Virginia their entire lives. We had been shopping for a property like this for about six years altogether and finally found what we think is the perfect getaway spot so that we could explore the joys of sharing riverfront property in the mountains with our children and create memories that will last a lifetime. We are avid outdoorsmen and enjoy every minute we have in our mountain retreat. Every time we spend time here we don't want to leave, our kids just love it! We are not real estate moguls, just two families that love the mountains and plan to keep this property and pass it down to our children. We will continue to make improvements to the property as we go so that those of you that choose to stay here more than once will see something new each time you visit!

Chrisi Duman purchased this farmhouse in 2012

Why Chrisi Duman chose Shenandoah Valley

There are few opportunities to enjoy the river and rent a home all in one! You can launch a canoe right behind the house and float down to the public ramp conveniently located about a mile down the river. If you are feeling a bit more ambitious there are lengthier float trips that can be planned as well. The views are breathtaking and the fun never ends. From the kitchen window all you see is a beautiful cattle field with an unobstructed view of the mountains in the background. Get up in the morning and enjoy your coffee by the river or from the front porch while gazing upon the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains! We know that our home is the perfect place to have your next getaway. This is a place where you can kick back and truly relax in total privacy.

What makes this farmhouse unique

The beautiful Shenandoah river gives renters benefits not found on most properties! For us the two main benefits to having this property are 16 acres of privacy and 800 feet of river access with space to be able to camp and have a good time. There really are no neighbors so crank your tunes down by the river and have fun. Bring your fishing pole and hiking shoes and enjoy the outdoor life right in your own backyard!

Great place, great location. Lots of stuff to do and easy to relax.

  • 5 of 5

First time renting a house so not much to compare it to but we had a great time and were able to find everything we needed. House was well stocked (loved all the movies) and decorated very nicely.

Kitchen was cute and had all the necessary tools, pots and pans though we grilled out for the most part.

Canoes and tubes in the shed were well enjoyed.

I had the property pictured in my mind as house RIGHT on the water- it's a quick little walk down a beautiful, trimmed path so almost worked out better than I had pictured. The property is also mostly wooded- about 2-3 acres or so as a front yard for games and such then the quick walk down to the river.

Massanutten waterpark was a lot of fun and pretty close.

Some other reviews mention the train which is really close out the front yard but we did not hear it at all at night and it was never a bother.

Neighbors down the way were friendly and waved as they went past.

Overall we had a great time, the place was clean, outdoors were great, movie selection was awesome, Galaga/ Pacman was loved, house was clean and neat and we were sad to leave.

Thanks for a great week!!!!!!

Home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely loved our stay here! Very comfortable accommodations, cute decor. Had everything we needed. Kids loved pacman arcade game, short walk to river where they swam and caught a fish! Railroad tracks were neat, found spikes. Bunnies and fox in the woods. Enjoyed smores at the fire pit and cows in the field. Very relaxing. Wifi didn't work but I didn't mind as much as teen but he got over it! Young son loved the swing in the tree. My 11yo daughter cried the night before we left. Would stay again!

Excellent getaway with family

  • 5 of 5

This was a great house to get my girlfriend's family together for her birthday. Short walk to the river and we enjoyed using the canoes, but it's not possible to go very far up or down river because of rapids, although it hadn't rained in a while. We especially enjoyed the use of both firepits. The house was updated very nicely inside and met our needs. Pacman/Galaga was a nice surprise. Nothing to complain about, and the owner responded quickly to my questions. The train didn't bother us, but it is very close to the house--the upside is the raised rail line blocks the view of the road. We would go back here.
