Overview

About the property

3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom, 6 Sleeps

Wanderlust House is a vacation rental (managed by FromHometoRome) next to Piazza Trilussa, Trastevere, which lies across the river from the historic centre of Rome. You can read about it from the history books and tourist guides, both in Italian and English, displayed inside the front door, on the 2nd floor of a building with elevator. In this hall, you can hang your coats and also sit at a desk, in front of which there is the first of 3 bedrooms, including chair and armchair, wardrobe, drawers, mirror and twin beds, or a double bed. Opposite the front door, there are two doors for the living room, one for the relaxing area (two sofas, two armchairs, bookshelves, Italian TV), another for dining (a table for 6-8 people and a sideboard). The living room also includes a piano. In the corridor alongside are the two other bedrooms, two bathrooms and the kitchen. The latter is fully equipped, and includes microwave, kettle, toaster, and one table which can sit up to 4 people. Of the two bathrooms, one is the most equipped, including shower and bidet, one other is smaller and has a washing machine at the front. Of the two other bedrooms, one has a double bed, two bedside tables, a wardrobe and a desk; the last bedroom has twin beds in wooden boards, a wardrobe and a bedside table. The overall impression is of a bright and wide place, where there can be room for everyone in a family or group of friends, also because of the large windows in every room.

Roman Holiday

  • 5 of 5

The location of Wanderlust is literally THE BEST possible. Easy walking distance to pretty much every attraction in Rome, and the Trastevere neighborhood has tons of great food and amenities available within steps. The apartment itself is picturesque and wonderful, and the building is quite grand, just across the street from the gorgeous Tiber and alongside the popular Piazza Trilussa. Also, the From Home to Rome people were GREAT and very helpful!

The only potential drawback is the noise level in the Piazza at night. Like... it is QUITE noisy and on the weekend, the partying goes until 4am. Like MARDI GRAS noisy, is what I'm saying. That being said: The windows in the bedrooms are double-glazed and so it is not too bad in the bedrooms, and I actually found I was not bothered at all once I fell asleep. (My sister was kept up one night because of a quite raucous fight happening outside, but I slept right through it! ;-)

Anyway, if you are extremely sensitive to noise, maybe this is not the right place for you. But I did fine, and even my mother who is older and goes to bed early did not seem bothered.

A Charming Apartment with Uncommon Character

  • 4 of 5

We were very pleased overall. We stayed for three weeks in February. Though not large, the apartment with its eclectic decor was charming. A collection of vinyl LPs, a fascinating library of books (mostly in Italian), antique furniture and first class artwork on the walls all give the apartment uncommon character. It was amply warm during a winter stay despite terrazzo floors. The kitchen and baths though not fancy were quite adequate, The second bath is pretty tight. There’s no dryer but the washing machine and dishwasher worked well. There’s no oven, but that wasn’t a problem.

The only negative that must be mentioned is the noise from outside at night. The apartment faces on to a street corner that attracts mobs of young people drinking and carrying on into the wee hours. Bring some very good earplugs! We’re from NYC and laughed at other reviewers comments about noise, but this apt had us burying our earplugs deep into our ear canals to get some sleep. Otherwise the location is quite good for exploring Rome. The in-coop grocer just across the Ponte Sisto has everything you’ll need. The building is undergoing some renovation work, but that didn’t impact us much. It’s a charming building with a kindly gentleman minding the door.

Emmanuele and the staff from From Home to Rome were very helpful, professional and available. They provided a crib and highchair on our request which was immensely helpful with 2 year old daughter. All communications were clear and quick, in perfect English. Our deposit was refunded quickly after our departure. Emmanuele arranged transportation to and from the airport and also helped with information about a day trip outside of Rome. We really appreciate his help and professionalism.

Wanderlust is a fantastic apartment!! Great location, it had everything we needed. Emanuele was a pleasure to work with and he was very helpful with arranging tour guides and transfers to and from the airport. I would stay there again and I will recommend it to family, friends and clients.

This is a Fantastic Apartment

  • 5 of 5

Where to start? There is so much. Wanderlust is a three bedroom, two bathroom apartment in Trastevere, just across the Ponte Sisto (footbridge) from the historic center, five minutes from Campo de' Fiori. The location is perfect for exploring any part of the city, with the added advantage that it is in one of the hippest parts of town. It is a comfortable apartment, elegant and relaxed, with a beautiful and large kitchen, spacious library/entry hall and a very large living room and dining room. The light - it's a southeast exposure and the apartment has huge windows - is wonderful. Emanuele was available for any request. He arranged Italian lessons for me with an expert teacher (Alessandro), a vegan cooking course for our group of four with a talented chef (Elisa), supplied a turntable for the amazing vinyl record collection that is housed in the apartment, and he even had the fine vintage German piano tuned so the pianist in our group could entertain us. I should mention that we were four friends sharing the apartment, and in good part because of ample space and the first-rate bathrooms, we left even better friends after three weeks. I love this apartment so much that I have reserved it again in late spring. If it makes any difference, by the way, there is an elevator that stops just outside the apartment door, the taxi stand is two minute from the building, and there is a handy bus stop just past the taxis.

Perfect location to visit our "study abroad daughter" and experience the beautiful city of Rome

  • 5 of 5

Overall rating: excellent! Perfect location in the town of Trastevere, right on ur Tiber River, part of the hustle and bustle of a lovely and fun and authentic Italian neighborhood! Restaurant recommendations were delicious, especially Trilussa (packed with locals and tourists alike!). Abundant shops and outdoor eateries and bars/tables to enjoy a nightly bottle of wine and take in the culture. Close proximity to Colliseum and historical destinations, Vatican area easily accessible, too...via public transportation or by foot! Also great location if visiting a study abroad student at American University Rome or John Cabot University. Just a block or two from tram and bus stop, making public transportation so easy. Comfortable beds, clean apartment, well stocked with towels and kitchen amenities should "dining in" be preferred. Washing machine so helpful in unit for longer stay. Polite driver, arranged by Emanuele/Sara, met us at airport upon arrival and provided fast and comfortable ride from the airport. Quick checkin and convenient check out process. Free wifi definitely a plus! We are a family of 5 and the apartment, with two bathrooms, was a great size but this apartment is so warm and welcoming, it would be perfect for a couple, taking in the sites of Rome also.

great location for sights and restaurants

  • 5 of 5

This apartment was a great location for our family group of 4 adults and two teenagers. We found the main sights of Rome easily accessible by foot or by bus. One member of our family had a broken leg and many of the bus routes run along either side of the Tiber so it was easy to take buses and also great that the building has an elevator. It was wonderful to be in Trastevere with so many restaurants nearby. The apartment was clean and much more spacious that I had anticipated. The kitchen, laundry, air conditioning, and wifi all worked well for us. The apartment had an information book that was very helpful in locating grocery stores, etc. that were close by. I would highly recommend this apartment to others.
