High up on a hill, with sweeping views of Agate Beach southward, sits this modern and spacious three bedroom Newport vacation home. Perfect for families and very dog friendly, at this home you'll enjoy a quiet, neighborhood location just east of Highway 101, and only a mile and a half from the Yaquina Head Lighthouse.
The main floor has a large living room, dining area, and kitchen that are open and spacious - perfect for socializing or entertaining. Windows line the wall for great views of the Pacific Ocean and sliding glass doors lead out to the deck for an even more impressive scene. The ceilings are tall and slanted, and there's a lot of cozy furniture for lounging and gathering around to play a board game or plan out the next day's adventures.
On rainy days, if you're not storm watching out the windows, there's a flat screen TV with cable, a DVD player, VCR, BluRay, and a collection of DVDs and videos to pick from. Just pop in your favorite movie, make some popcorn, and have an epic movie marathon. A built-in, nicely padded window seat is the perfect spot for a hot mug of tea and a good book in the afternoon, or even a fun bed for a child to sleep on.
At meal times, there's a space for everyone at the table and even additional seating at the breakfast bar if needed. The kitchen is quite spacious and modern, so there's room for lots of kitchen helpers while making pasta, soups, or even freshly-baked cookies. All the appliances you'd expect are here, as well as a coffee grinder, French press, and a blender. On the deck, you'll also find a charcoal grill, as well as patio furniture for dining al fresco on dry, sunny afternoons.
On the main level, there are two bedrooms - both with queen sized beds and TVs. There's also a full bathroom on this main floor. The master bedroom takes up the entire upper level and has a king bed and a majestic view of the ocean. There's a wall mounted, flat screen TV, a beautiful sleigh-style wooden bed frame, a small sitting area with a table, and tall, slanted ceilings. This home will comfortably sleep seven guests and up to three dogs, though a nightly fee per dog and a minimum fee per stay will apply.
Other amenities include a washer and dryer, WiFi, garage parking for one car, a ping pong table, and dog beds for your furry companions. Outside, the yard is not fenced, but the home is on a very lightly-traveled road and is safe for supervised kids and dogs to play.
In the mornings, maybe after having a cup of French press coffee out on the deck, head to Agate Beach for miles and miles of beach combing, kite flying, or just relaxing on a big beach blanket. For a little exploration, it's a short drive to Yaquina Head Natural Area for hiking trails, tide pools, and Cobble Beach, with its shoreline compiled of millions of round basalt rocks, a lighthouse interpretative center, and glimpses of harbor seals and nesting sea birds. Whales can even be spotted during their annual migrations - late fall/early winter and early spring.
On rainy days, you may want to plan a trip to the Oregon Coast Aquarium. A short five mile drive from Bella Vista, visitors young and old can experience the mysteries of the ocean, including Passages of the Deep - a series of underwater walkways that allow sharks, stingrays, and other creatures to swim above and around you. Right near the aquarium, there's also the Rogue Ale Public House for pints of Dead Guy Ale, pub food, and even a tour of the brewery.
Back across the Yaquina Bay Bridge, the downtown Bayfront area has numerous galleries, shops, bars with live music, and even a Ripley's Believe it or Not museum. Observe the crew of M.A.S.H. and Marilyn Monroe in wax form, then head down the road for some of the area's best and freshest seafood at Local Ocean Seafoods. If you don't want to eat lunch or dinner in the restaurant, you can even pick up some seafood at their market to bring back and cook at home.
Whether you come to Newport in the bright, sunny summer or in the colder, rainier months of winter, you'll love this spacious, well-appointed vacation home for your central Oregon Coast getaway.
Great view, nice open house with lots of room.
Loved the breathtaking views and fresh ocean air. It's perfect location for listening to the ocean all night long. We didn't mind that we were not on the beach because it was so close and easy to get to beach access. Close to town, but not in town and kind of nice to be in a local neighborhood...very quiet area.
It is a very large and old house that could use some updating, the light switches should be labeled due to the fact there are so many of them and some I don't think work. In addition, if one car is allowed to park in the garage then the garage door needs to be fixed, if the other cars need to park in the other parking then someone needs to get the minivan that is moved. We almost thought someone else was in the property. Some directions on how to control the settings on the hot tub would be nice.
The carpet downstairs really needs to have a very deep cleaning or it needs to be replaced, if replaced I would suggest going with something other than carpet. The bathroom towels and washcloths need to be replaced also, with better quality and if white is chosen, then the cleaning team needs to learn how to use a whitener to keep them white, some were a nasty grey.
Loved sitting in the hot tub with the jets turned off, listening to the waves hitting the beach.
The rooms were large and the kitchen was well stocked with supplies. We were disappointed that the house was not cleaner. There carpets needed cleaning and the couch and love seat were worn. The wood stove had been removed from the living room and a chair was stuck in front of the vents leaving a sooty round hole in the wall. The bedspread on my bed was torn. This is not the level of clean and maintained that I expect for 250.00 per night.
