Along the way to any of these adventures you will find fast food restaurants, grocery stores, and anything else you may need for your visit. The Thriftway in Newport has one of the best selections of wine on the Oregon coast and they are open 24 hours.

Drive north down hiway 101 to Depoe Bay and see the worlds smallest harbor and home the the Oregon Coast Guard Rescue. There are shops, restaurants and the Oregon Coast Whale Visitors Center. About Patty Stanwood

We are Highschool Sweethearts! We met at David Douglas High School by a class picture mixup. Patty's photos were mailed to me with mine. We can only presume it was because her Dad's first name is the same as mine. The rest is history! When we were dating we would leave Portland after work on a Saturday evening and drive to the coast. Eat dinner at Pixie Kitchen and then a sunset walk on the beach before driving back home by nights end. It was those walks on the beach and looking up at all those homes with the sun reflecting off their windows that started our dreams of owning our own beach home someday.

We got engaged on the beach at Lincoln City. We were married in 1973 and have two great kids and four beautiful grandchildren. We have been very blessed!

Patty's Mom and Dad spent many days with us at the Oregon coast over the years. It was their hard work and positive attitude that encouraged us to do the same and save for our beach vacation home. They are both gone now but we have named our home after them in their memory. 'The Pierce Family Beach Retreat'

Patty Stanwood purchased this house in 2013

Why Patty Stanwood chose Central Coast

It only seemed right that we chose Agate Beach. Patty's Dad was a rockhound for his hobby and created some beautiful agate art and waterfalls with his work. When we found this house we knew it was a sign. It's location so close to entertainment, restaurants, shopping, and attractions was a plus. We are on one of the most beautiful beaches on the west coast. Whether enjoying a good storm by the fireplace or sitting on the deck watching a beautiful sunset, the Oregon coast is the best!

Beautiful home, beautiful view!

  • 5 of 5

The house is spectacular and had everything we could have possible needed. The location was great, I will run out of superlatives before I cover all aspects of this place! It rained and it didn't bother us a bit, that's how nice it was here!. We did get enough good weather to get some outside time so it was a good balance and you can't "order" the weather!.

Wonderful ocean facing beach getaway...

  • 5 of 5

This property is in a quite location, even though it is very close to Highway 101. The ocean views from the upper level, which is the level I spent most of my time in, are spectacular with lots of windows. The deck is spacious with comfortable outdoor furniture. The home is clean and very functional with comfortable furnishings, great appliances, 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms with en suite master on the upper level. Wonderful secure garage to park the car in too! All you need to bring is your food, beverages, and clothing. I would/will definitely stay here again and would highly recommend this property to friends.

The property owners/hosts are outstanding to work with and we're very accommodating.

Great location. Beautiful view.

  • 4 of 5

Our family of eight enjoyed our Labor Day weekend stay at Patty's house. We would stay there again. The house was very clean and well maintained. It has a spectacular view of the ocean and is conveniently located. We enjoyed our time on the deck watching whales and marveling at the view. We would caution those who are stair challenged that the main level of the house (kitchen, master bedroom, and main living room) is upstairs so that supplies and other items must be packed upstairs. Of course, the tradeoff is that the views are much better from upstairs!

We felt that the owner could have done a better job communicating with us. We reserved and paid for the place a month in advance and did not receive any information on how to access the property until, three days prior to our visit and after not hearing from the owner, we finally asked her what the process was. She responded the next day and apologized that she had forgotten to send us another registration form that should have been filled out a couple of weeks earlier. After filling out the form, we received the code just two days before our visit. It was somewhat disconcerting that without our prompting, we might have been at the house on Labor Day weekend with no way to get in. Also, we did not receive the return of our deposit until one month after our stay which seemed too long. If the customer service experience were better, we would have gladly rated the home five stars.

We stayed for 5 nights over the 4th of July. The house is super nice with updated furnishings, comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen and all very clean. I was so excited to have such a nice place to stay. I was meeting my son, who is in the Navy and his new GIRLFRIEND, along with my daughter and her new boyfriend in Newport for the holidays. My parents live there and I have a big family so we all couldn't fit in my parent's house. This house would've worked out perfectly, if not for the accusations the owners levied on me after our stay. I emailed 4 times about returning my security deposit and on day 31 I finally got a response. I will paste it below:

"I was a little disappointed when I found out that you weren’t completely honest with me. You told me there were going to be 6 Adults, you and your Husband, your Son and his Wife and your Daughter and her Boyfriend. I didn't know you were having a party and that they were all staying at our house. There are no Pets allowed and there were 2 Dogs there. Also the Cleaning Lady found 3 bleached towels, 2 Bath and 1 hand towel in the lower level bathroom. You are right there was no damage except for the 3 towels and a small hole in the wall next to the recliner, so I will be deducting the 3 towels from your Security Deposit"

The owner didn't bother to call or even ask about all of the things she accused me of...which NONE are true! You see the owners are recording you while you stay in their house (which I knew when I saw the camera on the wall on the stairs), and they just assumed all my family who visited, stayed. I think they also assumed that I allow my kids to sleep in the same bed with their partners, but I don't, so maybe because 5 beds were slept in they thought I had more guests. We didn't have a party, and I begged them to ask their neighbors, who spent most of the weekend in the yard and watched exactly what was going on. My sister stopped by with her chihuahuas but left when I asked. I rent vacation houses all the time, and have always prided myself in going above and beyond when leaving. I try to make the housekeepers life as easy as possible. Her accusation of the bleached towels is not true, as we didn't have bleach to even use on the towels (who does that?). I have no idea what she's talking about with the hole in the wall either!!

If you don't mind being recorded, and not getting your security deposit returned and being ignored - this house is awesome

Owner's Response: Cindy, Sorry this has taken so long to respond. If you would have read our webpage on VRBO you would see a printed statement that informs you that the security deposit will be refunded within 30 days after checkout. We waited for you to contact us about the damaged wall which was caused by reclining very hard and hitting the wall behind the chair. The towels were bleached from one of your guests using a face cleaner which had a chemical for acne or face treatment and still no response from you. We waited the stated 30 days and sent your deposit refund minus $23.09 for the bleached towels! We DO NOT HAVE CAMERAS IN OUR HOUSE!!! That is against the law. What you thought was a camera in the stairwell is actually an alarm keypad. We do have an outside security camera that shows our front porch and driveway. It alerts us when there is unwanted intruders. It alerted us after midnight one night of your stay. It showed a young lady in her sleepwear in our driveway which is right next to our neighbors bedroom. She was walking out towards the street. We have neighbors that we know and respect and this did not go over well with us. She was conversing with a teen male while in the driveway after midnight. Our alarm system is licensed and registered with the City of Newport Police and Lincoln County. The alarm permit is posted clearly in the house entry. You allowed pets into our home which is not allowed and is also stated on your registration form that you will lose your security deposit if violated. We refunded all but $23.09 for towel damage and repaired the wall at our own expense. By the way, you never mentioned that we gave you a $200 discount to fit your budget!! YOUR WELCOME! Patty and Fred
