About Abigail Smith
Born on the East Coast, I always dreamed of traveling West. I completed my education in the East and then began traveling West with relocation of employment. Although continually traveling between the East and the West, I visited Jackson Hole and I took root there. I have called it home ever since.
Abigail Smith purchased this House in 2006
Why Abigail Smith chose Teton County
During a vacation to Jackson Hole in the 80's, I was so taken with the surrounding beauty that I knew where I wanted to reside. I purchased a home in the Town of Jackson in the 90's but kept driving North of Town for the views of mountains, valleys and wildlife. In 2006, I purchased my cabin sitting on a hill overlooking the Buffalo Valley and was surrounded by the beauty and wildlife that I always dreamed of.
What makes this House unique
This home offers beautiful views and an abundance of wildlife. The large windows allow the continuous observation of nature in all its beauty. From these windows I have seen a couple of moose cross the yard on a stroll and a mother elk, nudge her young calf across the Buffalo Fork. In the surrounding area, there are also Bald Eagles, Peregrine Falcons, Ospreys, and Trumpeter Swans for the Bird Watchers. Trail Riding is a short walk from the front door. Hiking, snowshoeing and cross country skiing are all accessible from the cabin.

We stayed at the beautiful log cabin in late September. Everything about the house was perfect and we had a great time. Would recommend to anyone looking to explore the Tetons / Yellowstone / Jackson Hole and have a wonderful place to return to every night.
The property was just lovely exactly as presented and more.
We totally enjoyed our stay, the rooms were comfortable and everything was easily accessible, and provided for. For us the location was perfect since we were there for my sons wedding at fir creek ranch , which is just up the road. Plus it is so close to Yellowstone and in the grand Tetons. We all wanted to stay...
Perfect Parks Location
This home is perfectly located about 10 minutes from the entrance of Grand Teton National Park. It was ideal for our family vacation that was centered on visiting Grand Teton and Yellowstone national parks. The house was clean and offered a nice view, a comfortable deck and plenty room for our family of 6.
Everything we needed relative to kitchen and bar equipment was available. It was also nice that the house had a few items that we forgot to bring (trash bags, dish soap, & paper plates). Note of caution: Plan to do you own cooking since there are very limited options for local restaurants.
From the house, we undertook many activities including hiking, horseback riding, and kayaking - all of which were located within 20 minutes. It was great to get up early and get home for dinner allowing us to maximize our vacation fun. To think, if we had based ourselves in Jackson Hole, all of these activities would have been an hour plus long ride!
We did and saw everything we had hoped for on our trip. Wildlife included Grizzly (local legend #399) and her 2 cubs, Elk, Moose, Wolf, Bald Eagle, Osprey, Mountain Goat, Deer and assorted smaller mammals. We would recommend having a late afternoon drink at the Blue Heron at Jackson Lake Lodge (15 minutes) - as dusk approaches the animals in the marsh begin to emerge. Also, thanks for having bear spray available at the house - it sure beats paying $50 for something that you hope you'll never use!
Bottom line is that we would recommend this house to those looking for a great and relaxing vacation at the national parks. If we have the opportunity, we would come back!
Great house in a great location
We stayed for 2 weeks in July-August. The house was very comfortable for our family. The kitchen had everything we needed and was spacious enough for several cooks. The view from the large windows is fabulous and the air-conditioning was a real plus in the summer. Our plans were filled with days in Yellowstone and Teton National Parks so this location was perfect.
Abbe was great to work with. She was helpful with planning and responded quickly to each request.
We would definitely stay here again.
Comfortable, beautiful home
I highly recommend this cabin. We rented it for a week in July to celebrate my mom's 65th birthday. Three generations in one house. It is a beautiful home, very comfortable for a family to spend time together, cooking, talking and creating wonderful memories. I was worried that having only two bathrooms would be challenging for all eight of us, but it worked out just fine. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything we needed to make family dinners. The location is great - easy to get to the National Parks and the views from the home are amazing. The owner is super responsive and very easy to work with.
A Great Place for Families to Stay or Anyone!!!
This was our first VRBO rental & we were not disappointed. This home was just what we needed for our families (children & grandchildren). There were a total of 10 of us with another grandchild on the way (3 toddlers, one 6 month old & 6 adults). The owners were very accommodating, informative & responsive. Abbe, thank you for answering my many questions so promptly. We definitely appreciated the manual you had put together at the house on how to operate everything plus information to help us have a great time! Your home was very clean & neat. Since it was important to us to give each family their own space, your home worked out great. The bedroom with the room adjacent to it that has the 2 twin beds was perfect for our daughter who has a 3 and 5 year old. In addition, their room had enough space for a porta-crib for the 6 month old. A previous reviewer indicated that the other bedroom had a very large closet that held a porta-crib. He was right. It was very roomy and worked out well for my son’s 2 year old so he was close to his parents. By the way, that 2 year old slept better than he did at home! The beds were comfortable to all in our group. We never used the first floor bedroom because we didn’t need it. We all slept upstairs. We had 6 cell phones & 2 tablets on WiFi & all seemed to work when needed. We never did turn on the TV. The huge great room on the first floor had a fantastic view & naturally became our hangout. There was plenty of room for the kids to play with all their toys, books or games when we weren’t out enjoying the area. The kitchen had everything we needed for the most part, including a Crockpot. We never did find the measuring cups which, if you like to cook/bake from scratch like we do, you might want to bring them with you. You do need to search for kitchen items as each renter puts away the items in different places. The refrigerator held everything we needed for a week. The bar refrigerator held beer, wine & soft drinks which was helpful. There isn’t a bathtub but the grandkids made do by having showers with their dads & the baby fit perfectly in the kitchen sink. The outside grill worked great & we enjoyed it on two occasions. Be sure to bring your mosquito spray as they want to enjoy you while you enjoy the great view on the deck. We used the washer/dryer on several occasions & they worked well, too. The home is close enough to Yellowstone that we went up for a day. Would we rent this home again? Absolutely!!!!
The Buffalo Valley sits within Jackson Hole and is surrounded by nature's best. It is a cabin for all seasons providing views, wildlife and activities all year round. In the winter accessible activities include cross country skiing, downhill skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing and snowshoeing. Spring brings warm days and cool nights with the opening of Grand Teton Park based on accessibility due to snowfall. It also brings a migration of wildlife with the opportunity for nature tours. Summer brings hiking, rock climbing, fly-fishing, kayaking and special events in the Town of Jackson. Art Galleries and Restaurants are numerous. Fall also brings warm days and cool nights. The aspens all turn yellow and wildlife again begins to migrate. Hunters take to the woods and woodstoves are lit at night for a warm, comfy cabin.
