About Abigail Smith

Born on the East Coast, I always dreamed of traveling West. I completed my education in the East and then began traveling West with relocation of employment. Although continually traveling between the East and the West, I visited Jackson Hole and I took root there. I have called it home ever since.

Abigail Smith purchased this house in 2006

Why Abigail Smith chose Moran

During a vacation to Jackson Hole in the 80's, I was so taken with the surrounding beauty that I knew where I wanted to reside. I purchased a home in the Town of Jackson in the 90's but kept driving North of Town for the views of mountains, valleys and wildlife. In 2006, I purchased my cabin sitting on a hill overlooking the Buffalo Valley and was surrounded by the beauty and wildlife that I always dreamed of.

What makes this house unique

This home offers beautiful views and an abundance of wildlife. The large windows allow the continuous observation of nature in all its beauty. From these windows I have seen a couple of moose cross the yard on a stroll and a mother elk, nudge her young calf across the Buffalo Fork. In the surrounding area, there are also Bald Eagles, Peregrine Falcons, Ospreys, and Trumpeter Swans for the Bird Watchers. Trail Riding is a short walk from the front door. Hiking, snowshoeing and cross country skiing are all accessible from the cabin.

Stunning Views

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely spot on! Abbe was a delight to rent from. Always responded quickly to my pre vacation questions. The cabin was exactly as the pictures, only better. I would highly recommend without reservation.

It was spacious and comfortable and lovely!!!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 8 plus 2 toddlers stayed at this home for a week and it was perfect for us. We would totally stay there again. It was spacious and had wonderful views of the Buffalo Fork. It was about 10 minutes outside the park and quiet and just lovely. Everything we needed (save a large cutting board!) and the beds were deliciously comfortable. Everyone loved it and was just thrilled to be able to stay there. I highly recommend it!

Nice place for a family stay

  • 4 of 5

We had a really nice time at the home and would have given a 5 but for one thing the owners cannot control - Lots of mosquitos kept us indoors in the evenings, however it has been a wet spring and summer this year. Otherwise pretty well appointed and a very responsive owner who wants to make sure the guest are well taken care of...

Fantastic Homebase for a National Park Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My extended family (6 adults, 2 kids) rented this home for a short vacation and a landmark family birthday, and it was a great choice in every respect. The house was very clean and everything worked. The owner was very friendly, cared about our stay, and was available for questions. The house was beautiful, with plenty of room (could've fit two more easily), and the view was incredible. The front window and the porch look out over the beautiful landscape of the Buffalo Fork river valley, the Bridger-Teton National Forest, and on up to the distant snow-capped peak (Grouse Mountain, I think?). Every day the cowboys moved herds of horses to different fields just down the hill from the front window. Most importantly for us, the location was perfect for trips to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks.

The Jenny Lake entrance to Grand Teton National Park is about 35 minutes away (similar to the distance from Jackson), and from there you have access to a ton of day hikes. If you go to the north side of GTNP, you can be kayaking on Jackson Lake in 30 or 40 minutes, door to boat. This was the biggest highlight of the trip for my nieces. If you get lucky (like us!), maybe a mama bear and two cubs will swim across the lake 30 feet in front of you.

The trip to Yellowstone is longer, but worth it. Also, if you rent this house you will shave about an hour off your drive compared to staying somewhere in the town of Jackson. Old Faithful and the quick hikes through the geothermal area around it were incredible experiences. We just wished we had a few more days to do more in the Park!

Other stuff. There was a gas station with a little selection of groceries (milk, eggs, drinks, necessaries) about 10 minutes away. For bigger grocery runs, we went into the town of Jackson (45 to 50 minutes away, so make a list). While we were in the area for the parks, we were close enough to Jackson to make day trips easily. The house was about 35 minutes from the airport (about the same timeframe as getting from the airport to the town of Jackson).

I would definitely stay in this home again, and cannot wait to be able to come back to the Jackson Hole area for a longer stay!

ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!

  • 5 of 5

This was our 50th anniversary trip and were we greatly pleased and ecstatic staying here. From the time we walked into the front door on Sunday, until the closing of the door a week later on Saturday, we were enthralled with this exceptional cabin. Spacious, stunning views, relaxing, and down right beautiful. It was wonderful to return each day from our Teton/Yellowstone outings to the tranquility of this home. More than enough room to relax, dine, sleep, play games, and enjoy the deck. Needless to say, our family will definitely return to this gorgeous home. That's a promise.

Beautiful Spot near Teton National Park

  • 5 of 5

My family of 7 (including grandparents) had a wonderful time staying in the Log Home with a Grand View. What a beautiful view!!! We still had quite a bit of driving to see Yellowstone and Teton National Parks, but it is about as close as you can stay without staying in a lodge or campground. The house was well maintained and we were able to cook our meals with the assortment of pots and pans and crock pot. Some in my party were worried about only having 2 bathrooms, but we were able to make it work without a problem. Thank you so much for sharing your comfortable and beautiful home.
