This home sits high on a hill overlooking the Buffalo Valley. It provides a quiet setting with sleeping accommodations for 10 guests. There is one bedroom with a king size bed, two bedrooms with queen size beds, and one bedroom with a full size bed. A back room with 2 twin beds adjoins one of the rooms with a queen size bed. The formal living room has a rock chimney with a wood burning stove, a high ceiling and four large windows with a view of the Buffalo Valley, Mount Leidy and the buffalo fork of the Snake River. The dining room sits a step above the living room providing the continued spectacular view. The table seats 8 and a folding table and chairs are available to seat additional guests. The den has a stone fireplace enclosing another wood burning stove. It has a sleeper sofa and comfortable chairs for watching a video or the HD TV. There is a beverage refrigerator and a wine cooler for convenient entertainment. Limited WiFi is available throughout the home. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking and has an Electrolux gas stove and oven, a Bosch dishwasher and a large Maytag refrigerator. A small table and chairs are provided underneath a picture window for enjoying the morning coffee or tea. Upstairs provides a loft overlooking the views from the front windows. Comfortable bedrooms and a full bath adjoin the loft.

This home is a neighbor to Heart Six Ranch and has seasonal views of the horses in the valley pasture. Heart Six provides breakfasts and lunches in a rustic cafe.Trail riding is within walking distance. The home is within a few minutes drive to the entrance to Grand Teton National Park which has restaurants and taverns with breathtaking views. Dining at Jackson Lake Lodge and Signal Mountain Lodge are minutes away. A little further drive takes you to the entrance of Yellowstone National Park. This is a spacious, clean and very comfortable home. It is truly a place to get away from the routine and live in a place surrounded by nature and beauty.

Born on the East Coast, I always dreamed of traveling West. I completed my education in the East and then began traveling West with relocation of employment. Although continually traveling between the East and the West, I visited Jackson Hole and I took root there. I have called it home ever since.

Why Abigail Smith chose Jackson Hole Area

During a vacation to Jackson Hole in the 80's, I was so taken with the surrounding beauty that I knew where I wanted to reside. I purchased a home in the Town of Jackson in the 90's but kept driving North of Town for the views of mountains, valleys and wildlife. In 2006, I purchased my cabin sitting on a hill overlooking the Buffalo Valley and was surrounded by the beauty and wildlife that I always dreamed of.

What makes this house unique

This home offers beautiful views and an abundance of wildlife. The large windows allow the continuous observation of nature in all its beauty. From these windows I have seen a couple of moose cross the yard on a stroll and a mother elk, nudge her young calf across the Buffalo Fork. In the surrounding area, there are also Bald Eagles, Peregrine Falcons, Ospreys, and Trumpeter Swans for the Bird Watchers. Trail Riding is a short walk from the front door. Hiking, snowshoeing and cross country skiing are all accessible from the cabin.

All Good but Wifi

This property was just fine, owners very responsive through out the process, view was real nice, house was roomy and worked fine for us. Patio and grill were great. We had 3 adults and 4 teenagers and things worked well. Location to park and in general was great. The only issue was Wifi, hitting the web to research excersions and such was next to impossible with more than one person online and even then was not acceptable.

House was very clean, kitchen was fully loaded and again the view and patio were wonderful.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for the information that you provided and I apologize for the Wifi inconvenience. Since we are remote, we have Hughes Net satellite and the data usage is capped and then throttled back once the maximum is reached. If I was aware that it was throttled back, I could call Hughes Net and purchase additional data for anytime use, which is immediately applied. I will add to the Home Manual that I be contacted if this issue occurs again. I do appreciate your review and that you brought this to my attention.

Great Winter Getaway

House was in a perfect location just minutes from Yellowstone National Park. Also within 15 minutes of the best snow mobile trails ever seen. Abigail and her husband went above and beyond to answer all of our questions and provide contacts to help with logistics. The wood burning stoves and all accommodations exceeded our expectations. Wildlife was abundant around the house and provided many occasions for my small grandchildren to view from snow fox to many deer. Will definitely visit again in the future.

Beautiful Cabin- the photos don't do it justice!

I would like to firstly thank Abbe (Owner) before starting on the cabin. She made a typically transnational exchange feel personable and personal with her easy nature, and genuine interest in our satisfaction. So, thank you.

Now the cabin..... The cabin that we expected and the cabin that we walked into were different, but in a great way! As the 'review title' suggests, the photos don't do it justice. The layout is perfect for moderate families, the views better than expected, the kitchen better appointed and with greater room to move around. Overall, the entire property provided just what we wanted in a cabin; not the Ritz Carlton, and not a 'backpackers' hostel. It was a perfect way to enjoy the outdoors in comfort.

Christmas family gathering

This home was a warm and inviting place for 8 of us to gather for our holiday snow vacation. We loved the wood burning stoves in the living room and TV room as the snow fell and we gathered in the cozy, yet large, kitchen for chili, or beef vegetable soup and coffee or hot chocolate on several occasions.The kitchen had lots of utensils from Christmas plates to grill forks, and cast iron skillets for stove top or oven use. The bedroom accommodations were so comfortable for 8 adults and two large bathrooms had all we needed. At night we enjoyed playing games around the dining table and we were appreciative of the Christmas tree stand, lights and other decorations around the home. The road is wonderful to walk for exercise and to see a variety of wild life. By being away from the city of Jackson we saw deer, eagles and moose within walking distance from the wood log home. The homeowner was very easy to work with. I hope our family can gather here again in the future as it was a great location as we traveled to meet from all over the world.

40th Anniversary Family Celebration

Our family of 12 (ranging in age from 2 months to 69 yrs) spent a week at this wonderful home away from home. We invited our children and families to spend our 40th wedding anniversary with us enjoying both Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons and this home in Moran was a great central location for both (Yellowstone is a longer drive but still doable). The pictures on the website are not an adequate representation of how large and accommodating this home is. We did need to use the den as a bedroom and it was perfect for this use. We never turned on the TV so did not need to use the room as living space for the whole family. Both the dining room and great room were totally adequate for all 12 of us to hang out and enjoy time together. There is a large closet in one of the upstairs bedrooms which worked great for a portacrib for our youngest family member - the other bedroom with the twin beds was perfect for our family members with two young sons. And the master is big and has such a great view of the mountains!

The kitchen had everything we needed - food processor, crock pot, large refrigerator (and we had a lot of food!), great oven and stove, large pantry spaces, dishwasher, lots of dishes and glasses.

Our only disappointment had nothing to do with the home - The fires in CA, MT and WY caused very low visibility of the mountains for the first half of our stay but they lifted some by the end of our stay.

There is wildlife in the area, including grizzlies, so you do need to be cautious when outside.

We had some WIFI connection, which was a pleasant surprise and phone connections were also better than we expected. The owner was very accessible before and during our stay - we would love to stay here again.

The Buffalo Valley sits within Jackson Hole and is surrounded by nature's best. It is a cabin for all seasons providing views, wildlife and activities all year round. In the winter accessible activities include cross country skiing, downhill skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing and snowshoeing. Spring brings warm days and cool nights with the opening of Grand Teton Park based on accessibility due to snowfall. It also brings a migration of wildlife with the opportunity for nature tours. Summer brings hiking, rock climbing, fly-fishing, kayaking and special events in the Town of Jackson. Art Galleries and Restaurants are numerous. Fall also brings warm days and cool nights. The aspens all turn yellow and wildlife again begins to migrate. Hunters take to the woods and woodstoves are lit at night for a warm, comfy cabin.
