About Brenda Connely

We are Ted and Brenda Connely. Brenda grew up in Forks. Ted is from Nebraska but has been here on the Olympic Peninsula since 1976. We were living in Port Angeles when we found the river house. A friend mentioned the property might be available. We bought it and spent every spare moment for the next four years fixing it up. One day in March of 2004 Brenda came back to the cabin from work in Port Angeles carrying Sam the cat, who had been the only one occupying the house in Port Angeles most of the time. 'We live here now,' she announced, 'we're always here anyway.' She got no argument from Ted and so the house in Port Angeles was sold and we became full time residents at the cabin.

Everybody enjoyed life at the cabin, including Sam, but after several long, wet winters we decided to buy a larger home closer to Forks, still on the river but not as special. We couldn't bring ourselves to sell the cabin so we decided to share it with others by turning in into a vacation rental. It has been gratifying to see our guests love it too. So many have told us they don't want to leave at the end of their stay.

Brenda Connely purchased this cabin in 1995

Why Brenda Connely chose Olympic Peninsula & Pacific Coast

Even though the property was all grown up with weeds and the house was very run down, we knew at first sight this was our place. The sparkling river running along the edge of the yard, the golden light coming through the trees, just the peaceful feel of the place. Many guests have used the word 'magical' to describe their feelings about the place.

What makes this cabin unique

We originally bought this property for our own vacation home with no thought of its potential as a vacation rental property. But not only is it a beautiful, relaxing, welcoming spot to stay, it is very handily located within an hour's drive of nearly all the attractions of the northwest section of Olympic National Park. Many guests comment on what a great base camp it is for seeing the park. We have often heard how nice it is to come home to after a day of hiking and exploring to sit by the river, BBQ on the deck, soak in the hot tub, build a fire in the firepit, and sleep in the very comfortable beds.

Wonderful stay in beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

My two sons and I all thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The directions to get there and get in were perfect. The house had everything we could possibly need. The bed in the bedroom was super comfortable and my son slept great on the pull out sofa bed. The kitchen and bathroom were really nice and complete. I loved the river behind the house and would love to see it in the spring when it is running high! The patio and hot tub were perfect and the privacy was exactly what we needed. All in all, the stay was simply perfect.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the wonderful review Debra. We are happy when our guests are happy. Cedarbreeze was our own home for several years. It's special to us. The river is even more beautiful when it's flowing higher. Not often but once in a while it gets really high and that is something to see. It's usually winter and raining buckets when that happens. Spring would be a great time to come back, hope you do. Brenda

Just Beautiful..Could not ask for anything better...

  • 5 of 5

It would be hard to express in words how much we loved the stay..the Cabin was very clean..neat and well stocked. The view..well how can I express that...Beautiful..peace full..to sum it all up..if you have ever been somewhere and you don't want to leave...then it must be nice. This is how we felt about our stay..did not want to leave. We have said, we will return...just hope there is a place open when we do. Thank you for making our (Short) but wonderful stay one we will never forget. To anyone who is thinking about staying here...the service is outstanding..we had questions that were answered right away. While staying here..we did a lot of sight seeing..and it was great to be able to return to a nice peace full cabin, and relax. There is so much to do around the area..from out standing restaurants to parks and just general sight seeing. We would recommend this place to anyone..and we will return..

The perfect spot for our family

  • 5 of 5

We loved this cute gem! The property was amazing with a big backyard and the beautiful, peaceful river right there! Our 2 little boys had the best time running around and skipping rocks. The beds and pillows were so comfortable and everything was clean and so cute, like the deck. We all enjoyed the hot tub, and we really enjoyed our nights(after putting the kids to bed) sitting by the fire pit and listening to the river run. This was a great place!

Owner's Response: Thank you, Kim. It made me happy to imagine your boys having such a great time playing by the river and you and your husband sitting by the fire after they were in bed. Cedarbreeze used to be our home. We too had many happy times there. Hope you and your family can come back often as the boys grow up. Ted and Brenda

Great vacation

  • 5 of 5

My husband and 9-month old really enjoyed our stay! The cabin is very tidy with lots of comfy furniture, a large kitchen, fireplace, large hot tub and a dreamy covered back patio. The landscaping and the view of the Sol Duc River were so nice and we spent lots of time grilling and enjoying the outdoors even when it was rainy. We took day trips to Lake Crescent, Hoh Rainforest and the beach and the location was great for these trips. I highly recommend this place!

This was the perfect quiet getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We loved being so close to the river. There are so many nice hikes in the nearing neighborhoods as well. The cottage is so cozy and perfect for our little family! The owner takes great care of her guest. Everything we needed was there for us to use.

This property is a great base camp for exploring the north Peninsula area of Olympic National Park.

It is located just off Highway 101 ten miles southwest of Lake Crescent providing quick and easy access to Lake Crescent Lodge, Storm King Ranger Station, Marymere Falls, Eagle Peak Ranger Station and Sol Duc Falls with hiking trails continuing into the Olympics.

Heading east from the cabins, it's less than an hour's drive to the main Park visitor center in Port Angeles, Hurricane Ridge, and the ferry to Victoria British Columbia.

West from the cabins 8 miles is the junction of Hwy 113 which will take you to the Lake Ozette Ranger Station and the loop trail to the ocean at Ozette, the Makah Museum and Cape Flattery on the Makah Reservation. Shi Shi Beach on the Makah Reservation is one of the most beautiful and remote beaches on the west coast.

Continuing on 101 past the 113 junction for 9 miles will take you to Hwy 110 (La Push Road) providing access to 1st beach at La Push, the trailheads for Beach 2 and 3 and Rialto Beach across the Quillayute River.

Just past the 110 junction you will enter the town of Forks which provides shopping, restaurants, and Twilight attractions. Continuing south from Forks for 12 miles will take you to the access road for Hoh Rain Forest visitor center with miles of hiking trails. Another 25 miles south on 101 you will find Kalaloch Lodge perched on the bluff above miles of beautiful sandy beaches. There are many access points to this stretch of beach.

Many guests have told us how nice it is to come back to our cabins after a day of hiking and exploring to sit by the river, BBQ on the decks or soak in the hot tubs.
