About Brenda Connely

We are Ted and Brenda Connely. Brenda grew up in Forks. Ted is from Nebraska but has been here on the Olympic Peninsula since 1976. We were living in Port Angeles when we found the river house. A friend mentioned the property might be available. We bought it and spent every spare moment for the next four years fixing it up. One day in March of 2004 Brenda came back to the cabin from work in Port Angeles carrying Sam the cat, who had been the only one occupying the house in Port Angeles most of the time. 'We live here now,' she announced, 'we're always here anyway.' She got no argument from Ted and so the house in Port Angeles was sold and we became full time residents at the cabin.

Everybody enjoyed life at the cabin, including Sam, but after several long, wet winters we decided to buy a larger home closer to Forks, still on the river but not as special. We couldn't bring ourselves to sell the cabin so we decided to share it with others by turning in into a vacation rental. It has been gratifying to see our guests love it too. So many have told us they don't want to leave at the end of their stay.

Brenda Connely purchased this cabin in 1995

Why Brenda Connely chose Port Angeles

Even though the property was all grown up with weeds and the house was very run down, we knew at first sight this was our place. The sparkling river running along the edge of the yard, the golden light coming through the trees, just the peaceful feel of the place. Many guests have used the word 'magical' to describe their feelings about the place.

What makes this cabin unique

We originally bought this property for our own vacation home with no thought of its potential as a vacation rental property. But not only is it a beautiful, relaxing, welcoming spot to stay, it is very handily located within an hour's drive of nearly all the attractions of the northwest section of Olympic National Park. Many guests comment on what a great base camp it is for seeing the park. We have often heard how nice it is to come home to after a day of hiking and exploring to sit by the river, BBQ on the deck, soak in the hot tub, build a fire in the firepit, and sleep in the very comfortable beds.

Cedarbreeze is a beautiful cabin on the Sol Duc river.

  • 5 of 5

Cedarbreeze is a lovely and quaint cabin on the Sul Duc river and I highly recommend staying here! When my family walked in their firsts words were wow, this is just so beautiful! It has everything you need to make your stay on the Olympic Peninsula perfect. We loved the location on the river, the hot tub was wondeful and the owners were great as well, so friendly and helpful. Our only wish is that we could have stayed longer, so thanks Brenda and Ted for sharing you beautiful cabin with us.

Great location, beautiful cabin

  • 5 of 5

The location was perfect for us, close enough to the beaches on the coast but also close enough to some of the sights in the park. Cabin was spacious, well-stocked, and very relaxing. Especially enjoyed the firepit out back! Looking forward to coming back.

Peaceful riverside cabin

  • 5 of 5

Riverside cabin in Olympic National Forest with every comfort, including hot tub, fire pit, fireplace, barbecue grill, laundry room, firm bed, full kitchen and living area. Small details brought delight, including willow pattern china, a quilt with different types of birds, rain catchers on the corners of the patio and a lovely garden view from the kitchen window.

Cabin and property were lovely.

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed every aspect of the property. The cabin was cozy, fully equipped, comfortable and convenient. It was delightful to walk down to the river, sit in the chairs and do nothing. We will definitely return. Also were taken with Forks and LaPush, easy drive from cabin.

This property is a great base camp for exploring the north Peninsula area of Olympic National Park.

It is located just off Highway 101 ten miles southwest of Lake Crescent providing quick and easy access to Lake Crescent Lodge, Storm King Ranger Station, Marymere Falls, Eagle Peak Ranger Station and Sol Duc Falls with hiking trails continuing into the Olympics.

Heading east from the cabins, it's less than an hour's drive to the main Park visitor center in Port Angeles, Hurricane Ridge, and the ferry to Victoria British Columbia.

West from the cabins 8 miles is the junction of Hwy 113 which will take you to the Lake Ozette Ranger Station and the loop trail to the ocean at Ozette, the Makah Museum and Cape Flattery on the Makah Reservation. Shi Shi Beach on the Makah Reservation is one of the most beautiful and remote beaches on the west coast.

Continuing on 101 past the 113 junction for 9 miles will take you to Hwy 110 (La Push Road) providing access to 1st beach at La Push, the trailheads for Beach 2 and 3 and Rialto Beach across the Quillayute River.

Just past the 110 junction you will enter the town of Forks which provides shopping, restaurants, and Twilight attractions. Continuing south from Forks for 12 miles will take you to the access road for Hoh Rain Forest visitor center with miles of hiking trails. Another 25 miles south on 101 you will find Kalaloch Lodge perched on the bluff above miles of beautiful sandy beaches. There are many access points to this stretch of beach.

Many guests have told us how nice it is to come back to our cabins after a day of hiking and exploring to sit by the river, BBQ on the decks or soak in the hot tubs.
