About the property

2 bedroom 2.5 bathroom spacious cabin in the mountains. Mountain views!

Nestled on a hillside stand of ponderosa pines between two vacant tree-covered lots, Deer Haven is where our guests enjoy beautiful open views of the surrounding countryside and peaceful seclusion in a relaxed setting after a full day of fun activities. It is a spacious, comfortable mountain cabin with 2 bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms located midway between Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks.

The large deck and outdoor fire pit are great places to enjoy the cool mountain air, watch the deer walk by, or just relax with family and friends. Enjoy grilling on the propane grill, or toasting marshmallows over a wood fire in the fire pit. (Fire wood provided.) The forested hillside and private adjacent lot add to the feeling of privacy.

The cabin has three levels. The main level of the cabin the living room/kitchen/dining area which is open and spacious with beautiful views of the mountains. The kitchen is well stocked and convenient for meal preparation. There is also a full bath and laundry room on the main level. The home is equipped with TV/DVD and INTERNET for your convenience.

The upper level has two large bedrooms and one full bathroom. There is a king size bed in bedroom 1 and a queen size bed in bedroom 2. Both bedrooms are extra spacious with sitting areas.

In the walk out basement there is a second family room with a TV and DVD player. The full size sofa is a pull out sleeper and there is also room for kids in the full/twin bunk beds.. There is also a half bathroom off of this second family room.

This is a great home-base for your Southern Utah vacation. Enjoy the National Parks, hiking, fishing, ATV trails, and horseback riding just minutes away from the cabin. Be sure to view the Insiders Guide below for area attractions.

There is an international airport in Las Vegas, NV (4 hours) and Salt Lake City, UT (4 ½ hours). Cedar City and St George each have a regional airport. Las Vegas and Salt Lake City are both linked with Interstate 15 with an exit to Cedar City.

From Cedar City it's just a short 50 minutes on a beautiful scenic drive up the mountain on Highway 14 to our cabin. As you approach the summit (about 10,000 ft elevation) you will have a birds-eye view of Zion National Park. Stop and enjoy the view.

Should you happen to forget something, there is Tod's Country Store that is about 1/2 mile away and has a limited selection. Groceries, gas, gifts, liquor, beer, wine, ice, soft serve ice cream and a self-serve grill to cook your hamburger, steak sandwich or hot dog to your perfection!

Come stay, you will be glad you did.

Why Tracy Camit chose Alton

We chose this property because of its views! The location is great because of its close proximity to Zion, Bryce, and the north rim of the Grand Canyon. We own the vacant lot next door which adds to the feeling of privacy and gives our guests plenty of outdoor space.

What makes this cabin unique

Elk Ridge Estates is located midway between Zion and Bryce National Parks making it a short trip to both. The roads in the neighborhood are chip sealed, eliminating the dust that you find in mountain neighborhoods. The roads are plowed in the wintertime making the cabin accessible all year 'round.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for your kind note and the mint chip cookies were fabulous! We really enjoyed our stay! Perfect location for visiting Bryce Canyon and Zion; we've spent two days in each and will close out our trip in Zion tomorrow - incredible parks! Nice amenities and spacious accommodations for 5 adults.

Beautiful home

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful, well stocked home, with great views. We traveled to both Bryce and Zion from this home. It is such a peaceful location. Enjoyed the fire pit in the evening. We cooked all our evening meals, so very much appreciated the well stocked kitchen and gas grill. Very comfortable furniture in the living room for our tired bodies after hiking all day. We were disappointed to find out the configuration of the bathrooms. For two couples it would have been so nice to have both full baths connected to the bedrooms. A full bath off the kitchen on the first floor is not convenient.

Great location and property

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at Deer Haven. The location was ideal to explore Zion, Bryce, and places on Cedar Mountain e.g. Cedar Breaks, Aspen Mirror Lake, and Navajo Lake. The house was clean and it was fun to look out from the big picture window for deer wandering on the road and field. The house was well stocked with the basics for cooking and cleaning. Very comfortable.

My stay at Deer Haven

  • 5 of 5

I think this was our best VRBO rental ever. We visited Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks and the location of the property was excellent for us. The house was comfortable. We really enjoyed seeing the deer, wild turkeys, and birds from our porch. I was surprised how well stocked the kitchen was. I had brought extra cooking utensils from home as I did not expect to have what I needed for cooking, but they were not needed. This truly is a great place to stay.

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five stayed for three days while we visited Bryce and Zion National Parks. The cabin is centrally located between the parks making this a great place to stay. The cabin is spacious, modern, clean, and has all the amenities of home. We brought groceries upon our arrival and we cooked or grilled all of our meals. The deer are plentiful and fun to watch. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and would recommend this location if travelling to this region.

Our family of 6 loved this cabin. The location Is beautiful.

  • 5 of 5

We had everything we needed in this well equipped cabin. It was so comfortable that we didn't want to leave. Sitting on the deck watching the deer was an important part of our mornings and evenings. It is very convenient to the Bryce Canyon area which we explored for 2 days.

Southern Utah Haven!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Deerhaven!! Perfectly situated for our trips to Bryce Canyon and Zion (about 40-45 minutes to each); it's also a great location for visiting other scenic areas in southern Utah (Grand Staircase/Escalante, et al.) but we had much to do in Bryce Canyon and Zion.

Open kitchen/dining/den area and full deck were nice. Wonderful panorama from the deck! We cooked often, breakfast and dinner; the kitchen was well-stocked as was the laundry room. The bedrooms were spacious, easily accommodating our family of five (three adult sons!). Highly recommended!!
