About Maureen Eyolfson

My husband and I had purchased the property in 1995 and had the loghouse built in 1998. We have enjoyed many summers with our family through the years. Currently reside in East Fort Garry, Winnipeg Manitoba.

Maureen Eyolfson purchased this cottage in 1995

Why Maureen Eyolfson chose Canada

My husband is originally from Traverse Bay, Manitoba and has very fond memories of the area.

What makes this cottage unique

The property is very unique in many ways. The view of the lake is amazing from the lower and upper level decks. The natural environment with the secluded forestry and privacy which includes a private road onto this property is like no other in the area!

The Loghouse was built as a retirement home and therefore has a high standard of living in comparison to a cottage or a cabin. The house offers stunning views with the rustic natural wood throughout and still provides comforts of a quality home!

Traverse Bay Log Cabin

  • 5 of 5

This was my first time renting a cottage and purposely did it for my sons second birthday. WOW!!!!!!!! Not only was this one of the most beautiful cottages out there, it met every need and desire. My family was in awe the whole week and couldn't believe how well run and organized it was. It really was fully equipped. Just need food and clothing and your set. The owner is amazing and replys instantly to any concerns or questions. We will definitely be returning annually. Thank you Traverse Bay Log Cabin!!! It was a family memory we will never forget!!

Family holiday

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I, our 3 children and their partners, 2 grandchildren and 3 dogs decided to take a family holiday together this year. We went on the internet and came across the log cabin at Traverse Bay and because of its size we chose to go there. We were extremely happy with the size of the house and yard. We had lots of room and the cabin was very well equipped with everything we needed so we just brought food and moved in. The hot tub was in high demand and used a lot. We all had a great time and everything exceeded our expectations. Would strongly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday.

A wonderfully spacious yet cozy feeling cabin.

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cabin for three nights and had a great time. When we arrived the cabin was very clean and well maintained. There were embers in the fireplace indicating someone had been out earlier that day to warm the cabin for our arrival. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes and cookware, there were ample clean towels provided in the bathrooms, and enough firewood provided for our entire stay. I stayed in the bedroom with the king bed which I found to be very comfortable. The cabin provides lots of space both in the bedrooms and common areas, yet maintains a cozy cabin feel due to the wood work.

We went on some winter walks in the surrounding area. We setup an ice fishing shack out on the ice in front of the cabin. We were successful in catching fish both days we spent in the shack. There are also great snowmobile trails and cross-country skiing trails in the area. There is a general store nearby (5 minutes) for any forgotten items as well as alcohol sales.

The owner of the cabin was easy to deal with through email. All my questions were answered in a timely manner and my damage deposit was returned to me one day after our rental.

Overall, this was a great experience.

Excellent...Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

I contacted Maureen for a 4 night stay and the cabin was exactly as she described and pictured. She was very professional and honest about what we could expect as well as her expectations. The cabin was identical to the pictures and it went beyond our expectations. We all had a great time and will return again.

LOVED Traverse Bay Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 10 enjoyed a totally delightful Christmas Season in this spacious, beautiful, well-stocked cottage, where the wood stove kept us cozy and warm. The bedrooms are very spacious and quite comfortably slept our family. The 2 bathrooms were much appreciated (and used), with a fam of 10! The large freezer and fridge also came in very handy to store our mounds of food! The kitchen is large, however we would have appreciated a larger table to seat 10 people, but made do with extra seating in the LR. We so much enjoyed the picturesque views of the winter wonderland outdoors, and had much fun there also, building a quinzhee, playing street hockey, going for long walks enjoying the gorgeous scenery, and snowmobiling on the trails nearby that were also surrounded by breathtaking scenery! The only thing we missed, was not having access to the hot tub, which would have been very much enjoyed after our outdoor activities! All in all, we LOVED our family time at Traverse Bay Cottage!
