About the property

3 Bedroom, 2.5 Bath, Sleeps 6-10(MAX)

Minutes walk to where the untamed Winchuck River meets the sea. Deeded beach access and amazing sunset views from the upstairs sun room. Minutes drive to Brookings/Harbor with fresh fish markets, farmers markets, health food store, shopping centers, and every imaginable outdoor activity you could want. From whale watching to surfing, spend the day on the river and watch the sun set over the waves with campfires on the beach.

Our spacious house has a large fenced lawn area for families to play croquet, Frisbee, or even kick the soccer ball around. The house is the corner lot with lots of privacy on a quiet dead-end street. The circular driveway is perfect for an RV or towing a small boat or trailer(with permission ONLY), and the 2-car garage makes unloading easy. In the warmer seasons with the windows open you can hear the waves lull you to sleep.

Use the built-in basketball hoop and back patio for entertaining, and there are plenty of sunlit rooms for lounging around on your vacation. We use only non-toxic cleaning products, recycled and organic paper products, organic native landscaping, compost, filtered water, and compact fluorescent bulbs. We support local businesses and our welcome binder is filled with local attractions and lists of places to go.

The area is referred to as the 'Banana Belt' because of its year round sunny days and warm weather. It is just a few miles away from uninterrupted hiking along world famous Harris Beach State Park, and a few minutes walk to miles of uninterrupted beach combing. The nearby beach overlooks camel rock and crosses several small creeks to the North, making for beautiful private walks, and some of the best surfing and skim boarding in Southern Oregon.

Some of the coast's best fishing trips start in Brookings, from Oregon's cleanest river, the Chetco, to the Smith, Winchuck, & Rogue River. Guided raft trips, and mellow inner tube floats are a great way to spend the day, and you can even end your Winchuck River trip within walking distance of the house.

My son caught his first trout just a block away from our house, and during Salmon season you can fish all day without even getting in the car. Just keep an eye out for the seals.

The oldest trees on the planet are found within a 30 minute drive to Jedediah Smith State Park, and touching these mighty redwood ancestors is an unforgettable experience. The same distance takes you to Crescent City for all the 'big-city' frills like the Ocean World Aquarium, complete with shark-petting and sea lion shows.

Come enjoy the incredible beauty of the Oregon Coast from our warm and cozy cabin. We've done everything to make it feel like a home away from home, and being built by Bob Itzen of Itzen Drive, the solid wood open beams have a history of their own. We even have a little electronic keyboard for your musical sing-alongs, a DVD cable on the DVD so you can watch the photos straight from your digital camera, and a small library of ocean-themed movies, books, magazines, art, and even board games. There is a wonderful loft in one bedroom for the kids to hangout - a great place for sleeping bags and late-night whispers!

So whether you want a romantic beach getaway, or a family friendly vacation, give us a try and you will have the trip of a lifetime.

We Truly enjoyed the space & the beds are real comfy.

  • 4 of 5

We had a Wonderful time here. There was so much room & the beds were super comfortable. It was a little hard for my friend to keep going up & down the stairs but she managed. The Kitchen was Great & spaces & had pans, seasonings, ice machine & water on the fridge. Very Nice. The Hot tub was Very Hot. Does need to be cleaned but still relaxing. We want to come back every year. The guys did a charter boat & brought back fish & we had a fish fry. So Yum & convenient. I do recommend staying here. It is not right on the beach but it is not too far away. Thank you for sharing. We will be back!

Enjoyed our time with some disappointments

  • 3 of 5

We really enjoyed your home but staying at other places through VRBO we were a bit disappointed. The hot tub was dirty But no worries we just enjoyed each other’s company on the back porch which was very nice. We (7 nurses) planned on staying in for meals which we did but it was difficult cooking for that many when the home didn’t have much to cook with but as nurses we made do with what we had even made a trip into town to by somethings to help us out like dish soap and trash bags.....I would stay here again if I had to but I would certainly look elsewhere first....thank you for opening your home..

Owner's Response: Hello, We are sorry your stay was not nearly as enjoyable as it should have been. We do supply trash bags, soaps and ect. at the home, we would have been happy to replenish what was missing if we were contacted. We also have an after hours number or you can always contact the office. We would truly appreciate it if you could email us more of your input to our office email. We truly like to hear any and all input so we can be on top of any updates or things that need to be addressed in the rental. Thank You- Paragon Property Management

Very old, but great location & size

  • 3 of 5

The location of the home to the beach and the river was terrific. For a large group this size of the home was also terrific. Having a hot tub in the backyard was a major plus. However the home is extremely old and does need a lot of updating. The kitchen desperately needs to be updated and cleaned. The dishwasher did not work. Tons of stuff left my old guest in the cabinets that were expired that need to be thrown away. We had to wash all the dishes before we use them because nothing was clean, I’m guessing because the dishwasher does not work. Also there was no extra sheets or blankets to use on the kids beds or the pullout sofas, or any extra blankets on the actual beds themselves. The basketball hoop in the driveway it was also a great class for the kids. The TV and the DVD were not connected correctly so we fix that so we could use it. None of the light switches are labeled so it was hard to get everything turned on and working a lot of the lamps did not work.

Owner's Response: Hello, We are sorry to hear your stay was not as enjoyable as it could have been. This home has all newer appliances, including the dishwasher which was purchased and installed last December(2017). We truly appreciate your input on the cleaning and carpets. We have a profession carpet/floor cleaning already scheduled, along with the windows and interior deep cleaning. As for the pull out couch, that has since been replaced with a reclining couch. We appreciate any and all reviews. Especially the ones with input on updates on needed items at the rental. We do hope to hear from you in the future! If there are ever any issues with a future stay you may have with us, you can always call our After Hours Emergency Line. Thanks You- Pargon Property Management

Great time in a great place!

  • 4 of 5

We had a greast stay. We had an issue with the fridge, but they were really responsive and came out right away with a replacement. They even gave us a nice gift certificate for our troubles. Very nice people! If we ever go to Brookings again, will definitely stay here.

The banana belt of Oregon. Great fishing, river swimming, beach walking. Every time you come, the beach and river will look different. Last year we were swimming in October and catching fish in November. You can get 70 degree days in the winter and even in the rain there are miles of trails to walk.
