(: PS: washing machine door opens a few minutes after having set to off the program, ...and only if the water has been pumped away of course. Draining speed can be adjusted to anything between very low and very high. I ll be adding the English manual to the reception area on the platform (a hard copy sits in the drawer in the kitchen).

We are sorry that you did not enjoy your stay in our apartment. The unusual bad state in which you have left the place suggests that you had problems to diligently occupy the premise and use all its facilities with the necessary care. At check-in no "damage on the walls and floors" have been detected by you, me or the service team. The toilet is located within the apartment and has a window as well. The bins are located in a separate place outside the apartment. The apartment is naturally ventilated, including airings (kitchen etc.). The newly fitted and double glazed windows are equipped with curtains and shutters. They are situated well above pavement level (> 2m). The few pedestrians that come to this quiet side street are not able to peek inside the apartment. The apartment is on the upper ground floor in a secure area with 3-door and 3-point locking system. We have tested OK the high speed internet connection and you and your wife connected to it at check-in. The internet service comes with approx. 500 TV channels incl. English channels. The washing machine is a fully serviced, contemporary model. Copies of the manuals are available. Kitchen is fully fitted (inventory > 100 items). There is supply of sugar, salt, cleaning products, towels, kitchen & toilet paper, soap and others. The double bed has a selection of two mattresses (hard and soft) to accommodate for the needs of our guests. There is a subway station nearby (Place Monge, 500m). The line runs near by the main street (Rue Monge), Igor, but certainly not under the apartment. The inventory is accurate and constitutes a legal document in France to be signed at check-in. Items on the list have been verified and confirmed by yourself, Igor, before you signed off. We have asked you to please handle with care and diligence the premises and inventory. When we contacted you for the damages and losses, we did not get a reply. Once HomeAway got in the loop you reacted and requested to provide “evidence” for the damages and losses. Perhaps that was because you forgot in which state you left the apartment? We did submit to you and to HomeAway a number of pictures and testimonials that clearly show evidence. We only charged you 25% of the cost of repair. The overall unacceptable state in which you left our place, your surprising “observations” and your stances in view of facts, all have left us with doubts and a “difficult” perception. It lead to a loss of trust in your integrity as tenant.

Thank you for this helpful feedback, Edward. Perhaps it is worth mentioning, that several of our emails to you have been left unanswered, hence the loop holes we experienced. Some of your replies left us with a slightly puzzled impression... ((-: Edward, perhaps you remember, that the Wifi details are indicated on the check-in sheets ? You have been advised of this as well as of how to access the building. We know that moving in can sometimes be an overwhelming experience... (-; Btw: it is general accepted practice in France to sign a list of inventoried items. In the interest of all this is to ensure a common understanding of the state and whereabouts of the latter. The cleaning fee is for thorough cleaning of the entire apartment. This is done by a team of trained cleaners. The fee is mentioned on the contract that you have signed. It is actually subsidized, therefore rather low, when you consider the extend of the service (cleaning, disinfection, washing, drying, ironing etc. incl. covers for sofa, pillows, chairs, bed mattress, curtains etc.). Our customers usually do appreciate this service as it allows them to have a smooth and convenient experience while being hosted. We do understand, Edward, that travelling at your age can be an exhausting undertaking. Yet we are happy, that -in spite of your subjective perception- you enjoyed life in our apartment in the famous Latin Quarter in Paris. UPDATE: cleaning fee is now included in the pricing

Dear Craig, thank you for your feedback. 1. During check-in we have instructed you how to use window shutters, ...why did you not use them ? Street light in the cities are common. Even in this very quiet side street. 2. At our charge we have unblocked the toilet after you have thrown a towel into it. 3. The bed mattress is of high quality and particularly healthy. All our tenants have appreciated it since many years. We have however left you with an additional soft layer for the mattress. Why did you not use it ? 4. We have shown you how to use all appliances and also handed to you all the instruction manuals (incl. stove, washing machine etc.), ... did you forget ?. We understand that travelling at your advanced age is a tiring exercise... (-; Btw: Please can you return the kitchen items and furniture accessories that you took with you ? They are rather expensive to replace... Regards.

It s been a particular pleasure to meet you. And have you been visiting some of the cultural events ? VisitParisRegion writes: "Take the rue Daubenton until you reach the place Saint-Médard. This charming little square is the point of departure for the rue Mouffetard. The market, shops, residents and cobblestones... « la Mouff' » as the local say, will leave a lasting impression. To savour the atmosphere here, find a spot on one of the terraces for a meal at the place de la Contrescarpe, and just watch the world go by. To walk off the evenings extravagance, a little window shopping is advised. The small boutiques show off the work of young designers, the record shops always have some new, and old, music to listen to and the shops stay open until 10 p.m.. For the road, you must try a flower-shaped ice cream cone from Gelati d'Alberto (45 rue Mouffetard). You can meet up with the locals at Piano Vache ! Just turn and walk all the way back up the rue Mouffetard until you reach the rue Laplace, and you'll find this famous bar where all the students go. Music offered nightly in an atmosphere covered with posters and photos of musical legends, so Rock n'Roll !"
