About this property
Secluded Cave Creek Cabin where you can Restore Your Soul, sleeps 17
Reservations are not considered confirmed until we have a signed lease contract. Please respond to our request for your pertinent details within 24 hours of notification that we have accepted your booking. For the convenience of our staff and their families, we prefer no back-to-back check-ins on weekends or holidays.
If you're looking to get away from it all, secluded, rustic, calm, and peaceful Cave Creek Cabin is the right vacation rental for you! It is Arkansas' best-kept secret - an authentic 1840's hand-hewn log cabin in the Ozark mountains!
Ideal for family reunions and events, retreats, romantic weekends, honeymoons, elk and turkey hunts, float trips, and hiking or mountain biking, this 2,600 square foot ridge-top cabin overlooks 125 acres of elk habitat. The acreage is a Certified Forest Stewardship property with 3/8 mile of year-round creek nestled in a valley setting below beautiful limestone cliffs. We're on Cave Creek and are surrounded by the Gene Rush Wildlife Management Area (no hunting on the cabin property), and we are only five miles from the Carver Input on the Buffalo National River, known for excellent canoeing and float trips.
Mountain breezes, rushing creeks, great views, and fantastic "dark-sky" stargazing abound here. Build memories that will last a lifetime around the massive fireplace and outdoor fire pit. Moved from Kentucky to this secluded spot, restored and modernized for vacation fun, the large, yet cozy cabin sleeps 17. We feature a full walkout basement, a fully equipped kitchen, a huge front porch and patio with picnic tables and a porch swing. There are three bedrooms, one open loft bedroom, and a walkout basement "bunkhouse," a great hangout for the kids. For your comfort and convenience, there are two baths; one has a tub/shower combination, the other a full walk-in shower.
When you are ready for some activity, there is a swimmin' hole, or fish the stream for smallmouth bass and perch. Hiking, rock climbing, cave exploring, mountain biking, and magnificent stargazing are available right on the property. Bird and wildlife watching is great too! You may even see a bald eagle at the right time of year. Just look out the windows to watch deer graze by the barn almost every day. Grab your binoculars and take an early morning walk on the loop road around the cabin, returning to enjoy a cup of coffee on the porch.
The remote solitude here draws people to Cave Creek, but cell phone reception is good, so you can stay in touch. We have a signal booster to ensure connection. If you can get them to come inside, or if a rainy day limits outdoor fun, keep the kids happy in our "Kids Kave" for table games, foosball, and DirectTV. Your smartphone's hotspot, plus our booster, can get you online with the smart TVs. We have a variety of paperback books for those who like a good read. In cooler months, relax in front of the crackling fireplace or snooze in the lounger and slow down for a moment at Cave Creek Cabin.
You are minutes from Sam's Throne for a fine hike. Richland Creek and Mystic Caverns are not far away. Brochures and business cards at the cabin will put you in touch with opportunities for horseback riding, zip-lining, and more! We're ideally situated near the middle river input at Carver (5 miles.) Outfitters for Buffalo River floats are at St. Joe (34 miles), Jasper (24 miles), and Ponca (38 miles). Floating is seasonal and rain-dependent, but a short drive to reach your outfitter is a great way to experience the beauty of Newton County and enjoy some of the best vistas Arkansas has to offer.

About the host
Hosted by Paula Dominique
I'm Jeff Formica, the owner of Cave Creek Cabin. One of my early work experiences was in Arkansas, and I fell in love! No matter where future jobs took me, I always came back to Newton County for vacations, and I always searched for a property I could purchase. The acreage here at Harmony Acres was perfect and I bought it in 1986! It took until 2000 to find the right location for a cabin, but once I did, Cave Creek Cabin came together - a dream come true!
Why they chose this property
The acreage where the cabin sits was entirely wooded. Paula, my manager, and I walked the property and this ridge top location is where we thought the cabin would have the best view and be most accessible. But there was no cabin! E-bay to the rescue! This beautiful old 1840's-era dogtrot cabin was originally in KY. In 2000, I purchased the entire thing, including the stone chimney, and had it hauled here on two 18-wheelers. All the pieces and parts were carefully numbered. Our neighbor across the next ridge, Wendel Norton, and his crew restored and glorified it to the cabin you experience today. You might enjoy the video we've provided of the hauling and building process.
What makes this property unique
I think you'll agree it was a good decision! The view of the mountains over coffee on the front porch says it all. Burdens are lifted, peace and calm reign, and the soul is restored at Cave Creek Cabin. As a participant in the Wildlife Habitat Improvement Program, I am honored to be a steward of the forest, helping preserve the watershed of the Buffalo to ensure that Cave Creek remains a sanctuary/habitat for elk, deer, turkey, eagles and other wildlife. We hope you too find sanctuary here and come back often.
