Ozarks Mountain Cabin Sleeps 17
If you're looking to get away from it all, secluded, rustic, calm and peaceful Cave Creek Cabin is the right vacation rental for you! You can see more about us on You Tube and at our FB page. There you can tour Arkansas' best kept secret - our authentic 1840's hand-hewn log cabin in the Ozark mountains!
Ideal for family reunions and events, retreats, romantic weekends, honeymoons, elk and turkey hunts, float trips and hiking or mountain biking; this 2,600 square foot ridge-top cabin overlooks 125 acres of elk habitat. The acreage is a Certified Forest Stewardship property with 3/8 mile of year-round creek nestled in a valley setting below beautiful limestone cliffs. We're surrounded by the Gene Rush Wildlife Management Area (no hunting on the cabin property,) and we are only five miles from the Carver Input on the Buffalo National River, known for excellent canoeing and float trips.
Mountain breezes, rushing creeks and great views abound here. Build memories that will last a lifetime around the massive fireplace and outdoor fire pit. Moved from Kentucky to this secluded spot, restored and modernized for vacation fun, the large, yet cozy cabin sleeps 17. We feature a full walkout basement, fully equipped kitchen, huge front porch and patio with picnic tables and porch swing. There are two bedrooms, a loft and a walkout basement "bunkhouse," a great hangout for the kids. For your comfort and convenience there are two full baths.
When you are ready for some activity, there is a swimmin' hole, or fish the stream for small mouth bass and perch. Hiking, rock climbing, cave exploring, mountain biking, and magnificent star gazing are available right on the property. The bird and wildlife watching is great too! You may even see a bald eagle at the right time of year. Just look out the windows to watch deer graze by the barn almost every day. Grab your binoculars and take an early morning walk on the loop road around the cabin, returning to enjoy a cup of coffee on the porch.
The remote solitude here draws people to Cave Creek, but cell phone reception is good so you can stay in touch. If you can get them to come inside, or if a rainy day restricts outdoor fun, keep the kids happy with board games, puzzles and videos. There is no cable, so bring the kid's favorites or watch some of our great collection of movies and see the cabin building process caught on "film" too. We have a variety of paperback books for those who like a good read. In cooler months, relax in front of the crackling fireplace or snooze in the "bunkhouse" lounger and slow down for a moment at Cave Creek Cabin.
You are minutes from Sam's Throne for a fine hike. Richland Creek, Hurricane River Cave and Mystic Caverns are not far away. Brochures and business cards at the cabin will put you in touch with opportunities for horseback riding, zip-lining and more! We're ideally situated near the middle river input at Carver (5 miles.) Outfitters for Buffalo River floats are at St. Joe (34 miles,) Jasper (24 miles) and Ponca (38 miles.) Floating is seasonal and rain dependent, but a short drive to reach your outfitter is a great way to experience the beauty of Newton County and enjoy some of the best vistas Arkansas has to offer.

About Paula Dominique
I'm Jeff Formica, the owner of Cave Creek Cabin. One of my early work experiences was in Arkansas, and I fell in love! No matter where future jobs took me, I always came back to Newton County for vacations, and I always searched for a property I could purchase. The acreage here at Harmony Acres was perfect and I bought it in 1986! It took until 2000 to find the right location for a cabin, but once I did, Cave Creek Cabin came together - a dream come true!
Paula Dominique purchased this Cabin in 2000
Why Paula Dominique chose Newton County
The acreage where the cabin sits was entirely wooded. Paula, my manager, and I walked the property and this ridge top location is where we thought the cabin would have the best view and be most accessible. But there was no cabin! E-bay to the rescue! This beautiful old 1840's-era dogtrot cabin was originally in KY. In 2000, I purchased the entire thing, including the stone chimney, and had it hauled here on two 18-wheelers. All the pieces and parts were carefully numbered. Our neighbor across the next ridge, Wendel Norton, and his crew restored and glorified it to the cabin you experience today. You might enjoy the video we've provided of the hauling and building process.
What makes this Cabin unique
I think you'll agree it was a good decision! The view of the mountains over coffee on the front porch says it all. Burdens are lifted, peace and calm reign, and the soul is restored at Cave Creek Cabin. As participants in the Wildlife Habitat Improvement Program, my wife, Angie, and I are honored to be stewards of the forest, helping preserve the watershed of the Buffalo to ensure that Cave Creek remains a sanctuary/habitat for elk, deer, turkey, eagles and other wildlife. We hope you too find sanctuary here and come back often.
Sports & Adventure Activities
Nice and secluded. Just what we were looking for. Enjoyed a very relaxing stay in the Cabin. Scenery was beautiful with lots of wildlife. We saw many deer, turkeys and eagles on the property. Spent a lot of time at the creek fishing and looking for arrowheads. Caught many fish and found several arrowheads. If you want to get away from it all, this is the place to go.
Secluded and peaceful
We had a great time at the cabin. It's a beautiful spot, great view from the the porch and kitchen window. The fireplace was great. There's lot's of space for big groups, but affordable for just the two of us. I'd love to see it when the dogwoods and redbuds are blooming. Overall, great stay.
Time to get away
What a fabulous retreat! This secluded cabin is so quaint and tranquil! We enjoyed some of the areas best climbing and look forward to visiting Cave Creek Cabin again in the future!
I highly recommend anyone seeking a private and cozy atmosphere to consider Cave Creek Cabin!
If you’re looking for complete serenity this is the place to be.
ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS AND SO VERY REFRESHING AND RELAXING
We enjoyed our stay so very much and will definitely recommend this to our friends, and hopefully can return soon. Everything was beyond our expectations, and just loved the seclusion. Beautiful cabin and area.
We thought the cabin was unique and the area vey secluded. For our purposes it was ideal. We enjoyed the creek very much. We did expect to be closer to the Buffalo River from the description on the website though.
Newton County is known as the home of the 'Arkansas Grand Canyon.' You'll find an abundance of mountains, bluffs and deep valleys and the superb Buffalo National River. Elk have been imported into the county and are thriving. The acreage surrounding Cave Creek Cabin has been developed to attract elk, dove and turkey. Deer frequent the property as well, and we've seen bald eagles soar down the valley at eye level. We've seen C-130's do the same thing from time to time, flying from the Air Force Base in Jacksonville, AR. However, most of the time it is quiet, serene and secluded here on our 125 acres. Bring your binoculars, hiking boots and camera, and plan to spend some time in the great outdoors. Sam's Throne is nearby, and so is Hurricane River Cave. Don't forget to book a float trip in season! Travel to Ponca for some zip lining. Try the Low Gap Cafe for all that's 'gourmet' in these hills.
