About Chris Hilliar
Your hosts, Chris and Molly are long-time residents of the Comox Valley and have a good knowledge of the local environment, the many attractions and the ‘must-see’ beauty spots. If you want a good beach walk or guidance to one of the many great restaurants in town, just ask. Why Chris Hilliar chose Courtenay
We're high on the hill on Lake Trail Road and close to Comox Lake and all the wilderness around it. Follow it far enough and Lake Trail will take you all the way to Port Alberni on the west coast (4 wheel only). Along the shores of the lake you can access great mountain biking trails, walk in the Comox Lake Bluffs Ecological Reserve or drive to the trail head for a hike to the Comox Glacier. Wilderness at our doorstep yet we're just 5 minutes from down-town Courtenay
What makes this Guest House unique
We custom built this guest house with privacy in mind. Your own driveway, your own suite, your own yard. Peaceful rural surroundings yet so close to town. Room in the yard to play with the kids but just minutes from beaches and water parks in town.

Over the top kindness and comforts!
The owners Chris and Molly are super helpful and kind and I found the guest house felt like someone's home, with every convenience you can imagine. I loved the greenery outside and the fact that it was in a quiet, serene environment surrounded by nature. A great place with great folks!
Everything AND the kitchen sink and then some
My husband and I have beenThis This suite is immaculately clean and absolutely every detail has been looked after! Homemade muffins and all the ingredients for a wonderful breakfast were provided that accommodated a gluten allergy. The setting is serene and so comfortable and very accessible. I loved that it was our own little private oasis and was the perfect place to rejuvenate and rest my weary soul. So many details big and small that are too numerous to mention. Flowers and fruit and chocolate are the first things that greeted us. Though we don’t have small children I did note that they also have plenty of games etc to keep the young ones busy. So simply put this is a MUST place to stay if your going to visit the Comox Valley. I know that we are hoping it’s available on our next visit. It will be hard to find something comparable. Molly and Chris have simply created a little piece of heaven and it was really an honour to stay and now number 1 in our books.
Thanks for taking the time to write such a lovely review. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future and are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at our Copper Fern Guest House.
Best Stay ever
We were completely happy with our stay with Chris and Molly. They were generous with their time, and gave us lots of good info re: trails, biking and swimming in the area. Our living space was aesthetically and comfortably arranged, and we especially enjoyed being able to relax on the deck surrounded by beautiful green space and garden. Kitchen well stocked with everything we needed with thoughtful little touches. Best of all, we enjoyed spending time getting to know Molly and Chris. We certainly look forward to returning in the not-too-distant future. We highly recommend the Copper Fern Guest House . David and Barbara Jones
It was our pleasure to share our knowledge of the Comox Valley with you both. We look forward to hosting you again in the future. Thanks for taking such good care of our Copper Fern space. With best wishes,

Amazing Spot! We will be back!
We had an amazing stay! Chris & Molly were very welcoming and helpful. Place was clean and the first breakfast was amazing. The kitchen was well stocked with what you need (even some spices & oils etc.) and made for making our own meals easy. It was also wonderful having a place that is child friendly and our little one loved the selection of children's books! The gardens were beautiful and peaceful.
We can't say enough good things, we will be back for sure!
This is really the ideal home away from home! The apartment has everything that a family would need! It has even a private driveway and a beautiful backyard. We really appreciated the immaculate cleanliness of this place. Thank you, Molly and Chris for making us feel welcome! Your attention to details and to your guests is amazing! My kids had even toys and books appropriate to their age! The whole place has impregnated your love and passion to make your guests feel appreciated! Thank you for the cute gift for our son for his 1st birthday and for our daughter too! We loved the flowers in the apartment! Thank you for the quality of the ingredients for our first breakfast at your place! We also loved the magazines about the island. We had also fun playing cricket in the backyard and watching the hummingbirds feeding.
Thanks Gabriel and Adriana. We enjoyed hosting your lovely young family and really appreciated the care and respect you showed to our Copper Fern Guest House. We hope to see you all again in the future.
Best wishes, Molly + Chris Hilliar
The Comox Valley encompasses the three communities of Courtenay, Comox, and Cumberland, each carved from the natural beauty of the surrounding forest and farmland. The area is renowned for its outdoor recreation opportunities which is maybe best exemplified every spring by the Annual Snow to Surf Race featuring snow shoeing, alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, running, mountain biking, kayaking, road biking, and canoeing. We have it all in the Comox Valley.
In addition to outdoor pursuits, the Comox Valley boasts world-class restaurants. Their mouth-watering fare is often locally produced from the myriad farms in the area.
The Comox Valley is one of the largest agricultural areas on Vancouver Island. Our Farmer’s Markets are held every week throughout the year – usually on Saturday mornings – and there is always great food and great music.
Music is another year-long attraction in the Comox Valley available at small venues like “The Waverley” and the 'Cumberland Hotel' in Cumberland, the 'Little Red Church' in Comox to three day long events like the Vancouver Island Music Fest held every July in Courtenay.
