Fully equipped, idyllic location, comfy beds!

This has everything you need, from the kitchen to bathroom towels, and even more. The house is immaculate, cozy, and perfect for relaxing or seeing tourist attractions around the area. It's centrally located for all the major attractions around the south central and southern west coast of Ireland. The parking is abundant, and there are 2 pubs located just doors away. It lacks nothing!

Great Irish Cottage

Cottage was great for our family vacation. Garrykennedy is a great little town and has gorgeous scenery.

Perfect cottage

Such a wonderful cottage. Location is picturesque and located within driving distance to so many places of interest. Bonus - a pub/restaurant about 50 feet to the right, and a bar about 30 feet to the left. Everyone in Garrykennedy is warm and welcoming (so is everyone in Ireland for that matter). 100 out of 5 stars.

Comfortable well located cottage

We enjoyed the cottage. It is well appointed. An inviting garden extends the living space. The cottage is very clean and any problem is taken care of quickly.. There is pub two doors one way and a restaurant/ pub two doors the other way. Garry Kennedy is a popular harbor especially on weekends. You are 6 miles from Nenagh, a town with a castle, restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies etc. Garry Kennedy is about 1 1/2- 2 hours from most Irish sites. It suited us well.

Good central location

Pros: 1) The host/owner were fantastic to deal with and they give you a comprehensive guide on everything you need to know about the cottage and the area 2) The property is next to a gorgeous lake and the surrounding areas were quaint as well 3) Despite having two busy pubs within a few steps of the cottage, we were never disturbed by any loud noises 4) The garden in the back is enchanted Cons: 1) This house needs a deep cleaning. The carpet upstairs was not great with some odd stains. The master bath smelled like urine. We went to the store to buy fragrance spray to remove this odor. They also had a lot of spider webs and spiders. Again, a good cleaning could fix this. 2) This is likely a non-issue for most, unless you arrive during July and it's unusually hot. The upstairs was uncomfortably warm despite multiple fans that were there for the renter. They should consider installing ceiling fans upstairs. All in all, it was a great value for the price. I very much liked the owner and host. They were great to deal with and it is a lovely property. We were able to get to a lot of Ireland's most iconic locations in unless 2 1/2 hours.

Great house and location

We had a brilliant time in Garrykennedy. The house was perfect for our group, right in the middle of Garrykennedy with 2 great pubs on our doorstep, and a lovely cafe. Our host was also very helpful and accommodating.

Idyllic Irish Countryside Retreat

We so enjoyed our stay at the GarryKennedy cottage which is the ideal place to just stop, relax and enjoy Ireland away from the cities. An ideal spot if you want to just relax, enjoy the two village pubs, meander along the walking paths, watch the boaters on the water or take short day trips (Adare, Cashel Castle, Galway and so many other places). It is exactly as described. Hesitant to recommend it to others, only because we want it available for our next visit.

Garrykennedy Cottage was perfect for our family’s stay in Ireland.

Our family of 9 had a wonderful stay at GarryKennedy Cottage. Centrally located for day trips and only a few feet away from Larkin’s Pub and Restaurant where we ate every night after a long day of touring. The cottage was cozy and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Owner, Brendan Dempsey was always very responsive with returning calls or email. Perfect cottage in cute, convenient location

Great cottage for any trip to Ireland! Our group of 8 stayed at Garrykennedy cottage for 12 days in May and it was just the right size and location for our trip. The cute-as-can-be cottage is located centrally enough so that you can make day trips practically anywhere in Ireland. Its about 10-15 minutes from the main motorway which will take you right to Dublin or Limerick and makes for nice, easy driving - especially to and from the airports. The house itself is a great size for a group, plenty of bedrooms with good storage space and the kitchen and dining room are perfect for those meals when you don't want to have to go out to eat. We especially loved being right in the village of Garrykennedy with the picturesque lake directly across the street and Larkins pub a couple doors down. It was a nice to end our days coming back to the quiet house, unloading our stuff and being able to go for a walk or just pop down to Larkins for a pint! Every step of the rental process was simple and well-documented, with a very handy set of manuals outlining everything you'd want to know about the cottage itself and the area. The owner was super helpful with any questions leading up to our trip and was always available through text or email while we were there. We cannot recommend Garrykennedy Cottage enough; staying there made our trip to Ireland all the more enjoyable and memorable :-)

Great place to stay!

I would give this cottage 6 stars if I could! We love the Garrykennedy area for it's quiet peacefulness and friendly people. So convenient to any direction that you wish to day tour. Also, there are many activities if you wish to spend some time on the lake, walking or just enjoying the cottage. The cottage is so well equipped, you will most likely not need a thing. Dunnes grocery and Country Choice in Nenagh, are wonderful places to pick up items for your stay and we always make a point of stopping at the Wooden Spoon in Killaloe while in the area. The owners are wonderful to work with. Highly recommend this cottage and look forward to returning for another stay in the future!

Perfect holiday stay

Garrykennedy Cottage is the perfect combination of old world charm and modern convenience. Our three generation family of five was completely comfortable throughout our stay, and thoroughly enjoyed hanging out together in the common areas, especially the living room off of the dining area. The owners were extremely helpful and responsive to any questions that we had, and the handbook provided was very informative. We visited many of the areas recommended in the handbook and were never disappointed. Having Larkins Pub next door was such a treat. The food was outstanding and we would receive a warm welcome every time we walked through the door. It was so nice to be able to walk right next door to enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner, have a few pints, listen to some traditional music, make a few new friends, and not have to worry about driving. The only downside to staying at Garrykennedy Cottage is that we eventually had to leave. My family sends heartfelt appreciation to the owners for sharing their beautiful cottage with us. We hope to return soon.

Perfectly Charming!

Garrykennedy Cottage is perfectly situated in a charming village directly on the lake. Its close proximity to Shannon airport makes it is an ideal home base while sightseeing the west coast of Ireland. The house is the quintessential Irish Country Cottage--but has every modern convenience. The kitchen is well-appointed, the bedrooms are cozy and comfortable, and the bathrooms are clean and newly renovated. Our group loved returning to the cottage and village every day after exploring far and wide! We hope we have the opportunity to stay at the cottage again. It was the perfect base for a memorable mid-winter week!

Great Lakeside Living

The Garrykennedy Cottage was all our family really needed to experience the ambiance of a traditional Irish cottage with all the amenities of a modern house. The village on the gorgeous Lough Derg was a real gem. The Larkin pub virtually next door was a great place for a hearty meal and a good pint of Guinness with traditional Irish music one of the nights of our stay. The proximity to various places we wanted visit made for several enjoyable day trips and the drive along the lakeshore was spectacular. Even got in a round of golf at the Nenagh Golf Course nearby. All in all our visit was great finish to our ten days in Ireland that began with the wedding of one of our daughters in Ennis. We would highly recommend the cottage for anyone visiting the area.

Home Away from Home

The picturesque village of Garrykennedy is a beautiful, relaxing area to stay in central Ireland. This was a special trip for us and Garrykennedy Cottage was the perfect place to truly enjoy our vacation. The location allowed for easy access to sites in either direction, however the beauty and charm of the local area was hard to leave. Do allow some time to enjoy it, as well as the lake which offers excellent fishing. We hired a local guide to take us out fishing and we had an amazing time. The cottage is beautiful and has every amenity needed for your stay. We found it to be very comfortable and immaculate. The back yard is gorgeous and offers a nice area for sitting. The owners are available and very helpful should you have any questions. We found the detailed manual inside the cottage most helpful and it was nice to know they were available if we needed them. We loved the local pub, Larkin's and really enjoyed visiting The Wooden Spoon in Killaloe and the Country Choice store in Nenagh. all charming establishments with friendly people and excellent food choices. We loved our time in Ireland and look forward to a return trip to Garrykennedy Cottage soon!

Memorable and cozy

Garrykennedy is a great place for a quiet family vacation and was a short drive to the sites we were interested in seeing around the South and West of Ireland (Cliffs of Moher, the Burren, Blarney Castle, Galway) - though some of our best memories were made in Garrykennedy a quaint and friendly village right out the front door. The cottage was unique, cozy, and very comfortable and the private garden was beautiful. The finishings were top-notch and we had plenty of room for our family of 6 to spread out. I noticed the comment in another review that a prior guest had difficulty with the heating system. We had no such difficulty. The owner was very accommodating and helpful and there was a well organized cottage manual that made it easy to figure out all of the systems in the home. We highly recommend this cottage for a stay in the beautiful Irish countryside.

Terrific Home in Great Location

This is an 18th century, fully updated home in a beautiful lakeside location in County Tipperary. The town of Garykennedy is not much more than a few homes and two pubs, plus the large national marina, but don't let that deter you. It is very central for day trips to many of the great places in Ireland. We went to Galway, Cork, Limerick, Cashel, and lots of small towns in Tpperary and Clare. The home is very well appointed and comfortable, with all of the modern conveniences. The guidebook left by the owners gives all the information you need to know the house -- the one exception being the heating system, which is difficult to follow and work once in the house. Larkins Pub, literally 50 feet to the right of the house, has great food and sessions twice per week. Driving to Neinaugh for food is not too far; the food store in the gas station in Portroe also has a lot, and the people that run it are incredibly friendly (as are 99% of the people you meet in Ireland). Recommend the towns of Killaloe (20 minutes), Bird Hill (25 minutes) and Quin (40 minutes) for great local fare and sites. St. John's castle and the Rock of Cashel (ask for Peter as your guide -- great story-teller!) are also must see. If you are really adventerous, our favorite place is West Cork -- Schull, Goleen, Crookhaven and Mizen Head are maybe the prettiest places we saw. All in all, this is a great home that can make you feel like a local for a week in a high level of comfort. Highly recommend it.

A trip that will be remembered!!!

A family trip to Ireland with 10 adults and two children and what a beautiful place for first time visitors to experience Ireland. The cottage was so warm and welcoming. The perfect spot for day trips. The people in the village and pubs were all so friendly and helpful. The food at Larson's pub was delicious. We made our day trips and came back to cook dinner at the house. The kitchen was very well equipped. The back patio was beautiful, perfect place for barbecue. The owner was extremely accommodating, very helpful and quick to respond to questions. It was a nice surprise when he called to check to see how we were doing and if we had any questions. I highly recommend the cottage. Thank you so much for sharing your cottage; it will be the family trip remembered by all of us.

Lovely cottage in central location

House was comfortable with beautiful gardens and very centrally located to all the major towns and attractions. The village of Garrykennedy is lovely with a wonderful pub right next door where the people are friendly, the food is good and the entertainment even better!
