About Das Jager Haus
We are Bill and Susan from Austin. We are retired from our careers but stay busy with our passions including travel, time with family, spoiling our two grandchildren and much more. We love our little cabin and property and know you will too! We are happy to share the joy of being in the country in a unique cabin. It is fully furnished and decorated in a whimsical way. Why Das Jager Haus chose Fredericksburg
We bought Das Jager Haus in 2004 largely due to the many wonderful guest comments. DJH is a magical cabin on a wonderful property. Our guests love the llamas Panda and Mymosa.

Small and peaceful
It was nice to get away with that said. I guess I'm pretty picky a few things that I think people would enjoy. The entire back was a construction zone messy hammock on the ground boards, trash just a mess. The Keurig coffee pot which I'm not a fan of takes for ever and leaks like crazy. As a couple my husband and myself like the option of a full pot or a single serve, as we enjoy in the cold months a pot of coffee (together) not waiting to make another cup for at least ...5minutes if not longer. I did have a couple of question and reached out to owner and manager and still have not heard back. The kitchen is non existent, lol so it would have been ok had we known to bring cooking utensils to the bar b que pit there are none there you just have to make do. There was plenty of fire wood A+ on that and plenty of hot water to fill the very large tub. Wish we could have used the out door shower, not sure if there no hot water going to it or what. That was one of the questions we had. The property is really peaceful but definitely needs some repairs. the stairs could use work none of the doors close unless you lock them, this is not really a problem unless it's windy as hell like it was for us. The llamas were cute we feed them they are pretty social. all in all it was good to getaway , just wish maybe they would do some repairs get a working coffee pot and grill utensils and maybe clean up the back some so it's not such an eye sore.
We’re growing! Das Jager Haus is updating and adding new living space. We’ve replaced the Keurig with a brand new model. I like your idea of adding a coffee maker to make a full pot … consider it done! The outdoor shower is seasonal (March – October) due to potential hard freezes that will burst the water pipes which we learned the hard way. The new space is an expansion of the tub room which has a 72” inch tub. There will be Bose sound and a 40” HDTV. We’re adding a patio for grilling and chilling next to the outdoor shower. For enhanced privacy, we’re putting up a 6 foot high rustic fence around the backyard. We’ve been in construction mode for several weeks. We are clearing cedar and removing the inevitable debris from the building project. Expected completion is mid-January 2020. Exciting times at DJH!
We had an amazing time at the cabin. It was a much needed escape from the city, and we loved being surrounded by animals. If we didn't have to venture out for food, we may have never left the property! We'll be back!
Perfect Cabin for a Perfect Weekend
For our first time going to Fredericksburgs, the Das Jager Haus made it the entire trip. We skipped out on some city activities just to enjoy the cabin. The nights at DasJager Haus was something we will always remember, star gazing by the fire pit, was truly amazing. The llamas topped it off! Couldn't have stayed at a better place. For all the couples reading this review don't forget to ask Bill for flower deliveries, it will really surprise your S/O. Cant wait to go back!
We love to hear that Das Jager Haus was a big part of your experience. It truly is a special place. Thanks for choosing DJH and come back to visit again!
We love staying here and this was our second visit. I’m sure there will be more to come. What a wonderful retreat from the real world.
