Overview

About the property

A Rustic Riverfront Cabin with 1Br, 1 Ba ~ Perfect for a romantic getaway ~

The Sequoia River Cabin is nestled in the Sierra Nevada foothills, in a quaint hamlet known as Three Rivers, Gateway to the Sequoias. We are just 5 minutes to the Ash Mountain entrance of Sequoia National Park.

Our cute and cozy cabin has a well-equipped kitchen and a propane BBQ off the back deck. There is a queen-size bed in the step-up (2 steps) sleeping area, a queen-size sofa bed and a 7-foot window seat / reading nook. The cabin is ideal for a couple. The rear deck is just steps away from the Main Fork of the Kaweah River. Please check out sequoiarivercabin.com for more pictures.

We are conveniently located on Sierra Drive, the main road through town, with the main fork of the Kaweah River just steps from your back door. The private river setting allows for a true romantic getaway. There is a fire pit by the river to enjoy an evening fire and we do supply firewood.

***If the dates you want are not available, ask us about our new luxury yurt / roundhouse. It sleeps two and is located in Three Rivers with spectacular mountain views***

While we do welcome your pet, please note that dogs are not allowed on any trails in Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks and our property is not completely fenced.

Relax in the Jacuzzi tub, listen to the sounds of the river and marvel at the Blue Heron and various duck species that call the river home. You just might see some deer at the river's edge.

If you enjoy fishing, you can fish in the river just steps from the back deck.

In the evening, relax in the lounge chairs by the river and be mesmerized by the spectacular star-studded night sky.

In the springtime, you can sit on the deck and catch a glimpse of the whitewater rafters and kayakers as they make their way down the river.

We offer plush towels, quality linens and a down comforter inside an organic cotton duvet. We also provide spa-quality eco-friendly bath amenities for our guests. Satellite TV, Netflix and WiFi are available as well.

This historic cabin was originally built as a fishing retreat decades ago and has evolved a number of times since then. In the '70s it was Little Rainbow, the workshop of our local silversmith. After that it became a private residence, and later a trendy coffee house named The Cabin. The Cabin later became The Buckaroo, also a coffee house/burger joint.

Single Night Bookings:

We have a two-night minimum, but when there is a single night gap in the schedule we are happy to accept a single-night booking. Just send us a message with your date and we'll go from there.

About Richard and Jeanie Smith

After coming to beautiful Three Rivers for years whitewater rafting, we decided it was time to leave the hectic life of the big city and enjoy a more relaxed and peaceful way of life surrounded by the natural beauty of the Sierra Nevada foothills.

Richard and Jeanie Smith purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Richard and Jeanie Smith chose Three Rivers

After moving from the Los Angeles area in 2013, we had the opportunity to purchase this rustic cabin on the river and offer its charm and beautiful natural surroundings to visitors from all over the world while they visit the Giant Forest, Moro Rock or explore Crystal Caves in Sequoia National Park.

What makes this cabin unique

It's a very charming, rustic cabin located right on the Main Fork of the Kaweah River. The sights and sounds of the river are both soothing and exciting. The charming little town of Three Rivers has a wonderful sense of community and hosts an amazing array of art, music and Western-themed events.

Absolute gem

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at the cabin. Richard and Jeanie provided an ample amount of amenities and supplies; anything you can practically need is there for you. And nothing beats relaxing in the jacuzzi after a long day of hiking the parks. This place is truly a gem! We can't wait to stay again the next time we visit Sequoia/Kings Canyon.

What a great retreat! The cozy cabin on the river and attention to detail made this one of my favorite vacation spots. And so close to the magnificent Sequoias along with the great hiking, such a special experience! Thank you Richard and Jeanie!!

Lovely

  • 5 of 5

Richard & Jeanie's cabin is a jewel on the Kaweah river. Their amenities left us without want.

They recommended a walk at the end of Skyline Drive which we enjoyed early one morning.

Lovely, lovely time spent here.

Thank You.

Amazing cabin and owners

  • 5 of 5

Very hospitable owners of the cabin. The cabin has an awesome river in the backyard where you might catch some deer drinking from the river. Very recommended, only cabin we will ever stay at when ever we are in sequoia.

Best Place We've Ever Stayed!

  • 5 of 5

This place is not just a convenient base of operations to explore the beauty of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. It's a great destination itself. Situated along the shores of a slow moving river, the owners have provided everything you'll need for a memorable stay. In fact, we loved it so much that we decided to cut short one day in the park to hang out at the cabin. My wife took her laptop and yoga mat out by the river (where the WiFi was as strong as inside the cabin) to take an on-line yoga class. Quite the tranquil experience with the river babbling by. After strenuous hikes through the giant trees, I put on the wading shoes helpfully provided, grabbed a walking stick (also helpfully provided) and waded out into the cool water and sat on a rock in the middle of the river. It was like therapy for my aching joints and feet. They even had champagne chilled for us because they knew it was our anniversary trip. I could go on. They've thought of every detail so you can just relax and enjoy. We're definitely planning to return!

Family va-cay on the river

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great time here. The cabin itself is so well cared for and comfortable, and not only is there everything you need (kitchen supplies, river shoes, towels etc.) there are extra details that you don't find in every VRBO. For example, there's a first aid kit, toiletries you may have forgotten, and individually wrapped cooking staples such as butter & cream cheese. The owners time, care, and pride are evident throughout the property.

Our kids loved playing in the river - they pretended to be salmon swimming upstream - and looking for various critters in the underbrush. . We walked to the local candy store and enjoyed the museum across the street. The fires in the evening with the provided s'more supplies were really enjoyed, too.

Our excursions were to Cat Haven and a visit to General Sherman; both were really fun.

Two pieces of advice: places close early so check the times of restaurants or the candy store and buy your groceries before arriving to Three Rivers - the prices at some of the stores border on shameful. One last thing, Sierra Subs and Salads is excellent!
