Location, Location, Location:

One of the highlights of this delightful beach house is its location at the west end of Galveston Island. Located in the desirable Terramar Beach area, away from the hustle and bustle of city life, Sea Lover Cottage sits on a beautiful canal and offers easy proximity to the bay and to the beach at an affordable price. Sea Lover Cottage is clean and bright, and well-appointed.

Enjoy your coffee and start your day by viewing a glorious sunrise from the canal deck. Take a walk on the beach filled with shells for the collector or build a sandcastle. Go for a swim in the Gulf waters filled with sea life. Body surf or bird watch. Enjoy peace and quiet, with the exception of a meddling seagull. Take your kayak for a spin on the canal from your private boat house or bring your poles and net to fish and crab the canal under the boat house overhead lights. Complete your day by grilling your catch and relaxing in the warm evening breezes constant through the lower-level boat house.

There is a green overhead light that shines in the canal for fun night-time fishing. You can really see all the fish swim through the light at night!

If entertainment and excitement are for you, Sea Lover Cottage is convenient to Schlitterbahn Water Park, Moody Gardens, the Flight Museum, Sea Wolf Park, Galveston’s historic Strand District, the Galveston Pleasure Pier and much more.

Bring your watercraft! The house is adjoined by a private boat house and boat slip. Terramar’s boat launch is available for your use. The Terramar Navigation Channel connects Terramar’s boat launch area, its turning basin, and its four residential canals to West Galveston Bay. Step off your private dock into your vessel and motor out to the Bay for a day of great fishing! Upon your return, clean your catch right on the dock and barbecue your catch on the grill conveniently located. Your private dock includes overhead lights for fun night-time fishing. Trout, redfish, flounder as well as blue and stone crabs are caught right off Sea Lover Cottage’s lighted dock. Your private boat slip is also ideal for launching your canoe, kayak or other people-powered craft.

Just across San Luis Pass Road are Terramar Beach and the Gulf of Mexico. Sea Lover Cottage offers the best of two great water experiences; the home is caressed by the salt marshes and inlets of West Galveston Bay on one side, and the Gulf of Mexico on the other side. Whether by the bay or the beach, your entire family will make unforgettable vacation memories at this seaside retreat.

Terramar Beach Community:

Beach – The beach on the Gulf may be reached from the Terramar Beach main entrance at the end of Terramar Drive, or across any of the three public walkovers.

Swimming Pool – The Terramar Beach pool is open daily from May 1 - September 30. It is closed on Tuesdays for cleaning. Hours: 10:00 A.M. to 7:30 P.M.

Boat Launch and Pier – There is a private boat launch ramp with a turning basin and dredged navigation channel extending into West Galveston Bay. The boat ramp recently underwent repairs. It is a brief 20 minutes by boat to San Luis Pass and the Gulf of Mexico.

Pavilion – Please also visit the nearby pavilion.

Owner requires a signed rental agreement.

Note that Galveston properties require a 15% hotel occupancy tax - 6% for the State of Texas and 9% for the City of Galveston.

We did a very last minute booking for this property. Nice community and nice property. The house had a great open floor plan which made it easy for everyone to be together. The area around the boat lift made a great space for fishing and lowering a crab net. Easy access to the beach from the community.

Overall, it was good. There were some items that were not available for use. Those items were things present in out kitchen. You can't provide everything that is needed, that's understood. We stayed for 4 nights and didn’t have any issues. The house worked for what we needed but we probably wouldn’t choose to stay again. We are used to rentals having basic things like cleaning spray, spices, aluminum foil, extra paper towels, etc. I read the past reviews and packed extra but it just makes for more things to lug/pack. So, as a lazy person, it wasn’t an awesome experience more me LOL. The extra blankets in the closet had hair from past guests and the towels are thin. Pros: Communication with owner & location was great! AC was cold and the water pressure was good. TV’s in all the rooms and the check out instructions were very easy. More than Enough towels for our group of 6 and the deck was great for fishing.Recommendations:1. The beds are not very comfy (thin and squeaky) and a mattress topper would be helpful. 2. More dish towels3. A small table downstairs to have on the deck/dock to hold drinks.4. Provide liquid Hand soap in the kitchen/bathrooms

The property was clean. Bedrooms, bathrooms were listed accurately. Appliances were not listed correctly. Listing also specified there is laundry soap, dishwasher soap, and trash bags. There were 3 trash bags, 2 dishwasher pods, and less than a cap full of laundry soap. Also, there is only street parking with access to the property over grass. If it has been raining, expect to walk through a swamp. I was there with colleagues for a medical conference and had to dress accordingly including heels and slacks. So, walking through the pond that was the yard was unfortunate.

Great location for a laid back family vacation!

We really enjoyed our stay this week! We did some fishing and crabbing off the back deck, visited the nearby beach, and enjoyed the views. We did travel into town a few times (20-30 min drive depending on where you are going). It was really nice to be able to come back to nice cool house away from all the busyness of downtown Galveston!

We had a great time! I would like to add that there is no fishing equipment. We had read about the awesome night fishing but wasn't able to take advantage of the activity due to no equipment. Also very little beach toys etc. We flew so didn't have access to bring these things. One of the fans doesn't change speeds and moved very little air. Could use some updates in home but other than that it was a great time. House was clean. It was further out from town than I thought it would be but we made the best of it! If you are looking for the beach this is the place! Much nicer beach than the one in town! Pool was also super awesome! Host is fantastic!!

We had a great time while staying at this property. Location is beautiful. I wasn't sure what I'd think about being on the canal, but it was super cool and gave us access to water right outside our door. The location is not super close to most restaurants, but it's away from the crowds and craziness closer to Pleasure Pier.

The neighborhood was nice and quiet. Maybe a bit too quiet for our loud children but overall, it was a nice neighborhood and location to relax and get some quiet time. The house being situated on the canal is an added bonus, it's so beautiful in the mornings to see the sun glistening on the water. The house is about a 30 minute drive away from the Galveston Boardwalk, Wal-Mart, oher restaurants, and the main area for higher traffic and activities. The house is well kept and clean. There was enough room for everyone to have their space and have a good night's rest. The place is equipped with everything you need to cook and eat, to shower and do laundry, etc. It is a home away from home. I would stay here again if I come back to the area.

Great Labor Day Weekend

We had a great time at this beach house. The location is perfect, the home was well equipped, and has the perfect amount of space. We enjoyed fishing and crabbing off the dock, we caught enough crabs for a boil! We rented a golf cart while there and the location was just perfect to ride to the beach, pool, marina, store, everything! The host was very responsive and helpful before, during and after! Would definitely stay here again!

The owner grew up in Baltimore and water has always been a part of her life. As a child, she enjoyed summers along the Chesapeake Bay in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware and Ocean City, Maryland. Later in life, she became a world traveler and has lived in many exotic locations, including Azerbaijan. While there, she vacationed along the Caspian Sea in what are called “dachas” – a Russian word for seasonal second-homes. After relocating to Texas, she began searching for her own dacha where she could spend time with her family and pass on some of her fondest memories. She seized the opportunity to settle on Galveston Island in beautiful Terramar Beach. Sea Lover Cottage is affectionately referred to among family and friends as “the Dacha.”
