When you arrive at Quinta da Várzea in Colares, you just feel this small farm has a wonderfully beautiful vibe…Not only the garden is magic, but the house feels very cosy and comfortable to be in. Can´t describe it, just feel it.
It is in fact, a very charming place in the heart of Colares, Sintra. It is very well located: on one side you have some coffees and a mini market just 3 minutes, walking distance, from the house, on the other side you can feel the silence of nature that surrounds the place.
At night, you can listen to the crying of some little owls which live in the property …It is also very relaxing when you can hear the sound of the river coming down, passing right in front of the front of the gate.
The house belonged for 3 generations to an English/Danish family, and was recently bought by a young Portuguese couple, Madalena and Francisco who are passionate about this area for over 18 years…The actual owners try to make it a really special place, always available, trying to make the stay of all clients, both memorable and enjoyable.
The house was rebuilt in 1994, and was recently refurnished and redecorated by the owners. The decoration is really a good surprise! The house consists of 4 bed-rooms for two, a fully equipped kitchen, dining room with a table and 6 green chairs and 2 bathrooms with a bath tub. You will also find a very light and whitened living room, decorated to create a pretty space to enjoy conversations with friends and family.
You find a separate entrance to get into the house, though a very large porch with the most beautiful view at the Serra the Sintra, its Palace and Castle. There is a cosy and homelike seating at this veranda, where you can spend some quiet relaxing moments.
If Sintra has a microclimate and often when it is overcast this side of the hills it is sunny and warm on the Cascais side and vice versa, one can also confirm that Quinta the Varzea has its own microclimate itself.
