As a U.S. Foreign Service family often working overseas, we love to return to the lake in New Hampshire as often as possible.
Si purchased this Cottage in 2014
Why Si chose Stoddard
After renting summer homes in southern New Hampshire for years, we finaly bought our own and turned it into the place we would want to rent. We hope you'll find living on the lake as relaxing as we do.
What makes this Cottage unique
The 180 degree view of hills and trees across the lake from our front deck and nearly all the rooms makes doing a lot, or nothing, equally worthwhile.

Lovely quiet Fall destination
Thank you for a wonderful retreat on Highland Lake. The house was clean, comfortable, and the perfect setting for a gathering with friends. The kitchen worked well for making meals and we loved the dining area and various sitting areas. The caretaker was so nice to show me around and we would highly recommend this house as a weekend or week getaway.
Despite the Nor'easter that poured rain (and some snow) most of the weekend, we still got out with the canoe and took walks on the quiet roads. The gas fireplace was very cheerful, too.
Lovely cottage on a lovely lake
We really enjoyed our stay. The house was bright, clean, and comfortable, with plenty of space, and well-equipped with kayaks, a canoe, and bikes. We explored the southern half of the lake (it's big!) by boat and swam several times in the warm, clean water. Thanks for a relaxing few days!
A perfect stay!
Bordulac Cottage on Highland Lake in Stoddard, NH was perfect! Very comfortable in all respects. Nice and simple modern decor. We loved the dining/TV area with windows all around. The kitchen was nicely laid out and easy to prep meals in. Even the beach was cozy! Very nicely landscaped with sitting areas and Adirondack style chairs. There was a perfect balance of shade and sun. The water was very crisp and clean for swimming.
The kayaks, canoe and life vests were all clean and in great shape. I am biased of course because the canoe was my favorite bare aluminum Grumman.
The WiFi gave us what we needed; was helpful for making calls on Face time because the cell service in the the area is choppy. They do have a landline for local calls which also helped.
We would definitely stay again!
Great weekend getaway with the family
Very nice cottage right on the water. Outside had everything needed to relax and enjoy the lake including kayaks. The lake was quiet and clean. Inside was an open floor plan and well appointed kitchen to cook in. We enjoyed eating while looking over the lake. This rental had all the “small things” that make it a great place to vacation. Make sure to pack everything since other than the small general store the nearest grocery is about 30 minutes away.
Contemporary, comfortable and cozy lake cottage
We've stayed at Bordulac Cottage twice now and both times absolutely loved it. The house is furnished in a contemporary and comfortable way. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking, and it's a lovely place to stay even when the weather turns grey and rainy. The lake is beautiful. And it's quiet and private while still being close enough to grocery stores, etc. I grew up in that area of the country and there's so much to do in the surrounding area. Si is always super helpful and nice. And our deposit was returned promptly.
Beautiful home and lake
A great vacation! The home was lovely. Beautifully decorated. Highland Lake was warm and so clean. Enjoyed kayaking everyday. My grandchildren loved the beach.
I loved the den with all the books.
Everything was perfect. Thank you for sharing this beautiful spot
