We had the MOST amazing time staying at the Villa Tropicale!! The property is so unique in all the best ways! We had two families with five kids between us and it was so great that each bedroom had it's own bathroom so everyone could have their own space, worked out wonderfully! We enjoyed coffee out by the pool in the mornings and drinks at the Tiki Hut at night, the outside area is so relaxing! Everything about our trip was so great and we can't wait to go back! We mostly stay at VRBOs on vacation and Claude was by far the most accommodating host we have ever come across! He was there to greet us and show us around and was so helpful throughout our stay! And not to mention the delicious meals that he provided, this was the best thing to come home to after a long day, thank you again Claude, we really appreciated everything!! :)

Beautiful home and outdoor space

We had 4 couples and the house was perfect for our group. Claude was so accommodating. His Paella was the best! We especially enjoyed the pool and space to eat or hang out outdoors. It's a short walk to Guana Bay Beach and a hiking trail along the coast. We can't wait to go back!

Nicest place in the 30 years I've been going to the Island

The grounds are beautiful. Every one had there own place to stay. Claude was the most attentive host ever. Nice pool close beach safe location. Will 100% stay there again.

Fabulous House for a large family!After 10 years of renting houses, I can say that this was the best overall. The house wasclean, spacious and maintained. We took our adult children and our grandchildren. Itwas large enough for everyone to have privacy. Each room had its own bathroom. Thehost was fabulous. From the moment we arrived, he was welcoming, gracious and verythoughtful. Upon arrival there was a fresh pasta sauce and pasta waiting for us. Thekitchen was equipped with everything we needed. The house was loaded with all theessentials, enough cascade, laundry detergent, napkins, sunscreen, bug spray andmore for our entire stay. There were mangos, papayas, avocados, cereal, coffee, treatsof all kinds waiting for us in the house. Each bathroom had fresh soap, shampoo, andconditioner. One morning the host brought fresh croissants. They made us dinnertwice not including the welcoming pasta. Not only did they make us dinner, but theyfollowed our dietary needs which is not easy with my family.The pool was great and very child friendly. There were plenty of lounge chairs, andtubes for the pool. The beach was a 3-minute walk and relatively private.We are planning on renting it again next year!

Another great stay!

This was our second time staying at Villa Tropicale, and we already booked a third. The location is perfect - walk to Guana Bay beach - huge beautiful pool - gorgeous villa and most of all the best host anyone could ever ask for. Claude is more than accommodating. He is kind and thoughtful as well as being one of the best chef’s ever!We love this location because we are central to both Philipsburg and the French side as well - best of both worlds! We love Orient Beach and the Orient village restaurants. Guana bay beach is just a very short walk and Claude had beach chairs and umbrellas for us to use too. So much to do and the best host ever!!

Week in Paradise

Wonderful week in St Maarten! Claude was fantastic and makes a delicious paella!! The house was perfect for our small group of 5 and could easily accommodate a much larger group both inside and out. The outside area was beautiful with a large pool, multiple sitting areas in and out of the sun, and gorgeous landscaping. You are a very short walk to the beach as well. While there are no restaurants within walking distance, Elizee Taxi (+1 721 522 2877) picked us up and took us anywhere we wanted to go all week for a very reasonable price. All in all, I would definitely recommend Villa Tropicale!!

Amazing hospitality! Wonderful property!

This was a perfect house for our group of 4 couples. Plenty of room for everyone. Each room had its own ensuite. The outdoor area provided hours of entertainment whether we were in the pool, at the bar or at one of the multiple seating areas. You can enjoy lounging in the sun or cooling off under the covered deck. Claude is a “one of a kind” host! He provided everything we could have asked for plus more. He has thought of everything and truly enjoys have guests in his house. We thank you-Claude, for making our trip so memorable!

Paradise on Guana Bay

We have traveled to many VRBO properties before, and Claude and Monique's Villa Tropicale is definitely ranks number one. The facilities and hospitality are outstanding. Having 11 individuals ages from 80 to 5 there was plenty to keep us occupied --beautiful big pool, pool table, table tennis and darts. The kitchen is equipted with all the spices, oils, and cooking equiptment of a gourmet resturant. What set this location apart from others we have visited is the hospitality of Claude and Monique. They made us feel like special guests in their lovely villa. The gardens that Monique maintains around the house are filled with numerous exotic plants. Claude cooked us paella one night that was better than any you would find Valencia. He also brought us croissants and demonstrated how to make crepes. The villa is located for easy travel to all the main beaches on the island. If you plan a first rate vacation in the near future I highly recommend Villa Tropicale The Hall Family

Our vacation here was like staying at our own private resort!

This property looks amazing in the photos, and it is even better in person! Our group of 8 (ages 10-72) stayed here for a week and no one was ready to go home at the end of our stay. Claude and his wife, Monique, are the loveliest people you'd ever meet and they have thought of absolutely everything to make your stay here feel luxurious. The villa is just amazing, so beautifully built and decorated, full of gorgeous details, and absolutely pristine. It has tons of space to be together, eat together, play together, but every room, or suite, was very private as well. The kitchen is so well-appointed; they have anything that you could possibly want. The pool is gorgeous and huge...larger than some hotel pools! The yard is filled with beautiful and interesting plants, trees, and flowers. Claude spoiled us by making us paella by the pool one evening, and it was incredible. He and Monique absolutely made us feel like guests in their beautiful home. The beach truly is a 1 minute walk from the home. The waves were so fun and great for body surfing, although, we brought a life jacket for our son and we're really glad that we did. The current is quite strong at times, so just be careful. If you are looking for an amazing property where you could create some wonderful family memories, look no further. This was our first visit to St. Maarten, and we had a wonderful time exploring the island, but even if we had stayed at Villa Tropicale the entire week, we still would have had an amazing vacation. This is just the most outstanding place we have ever stayed. Thank you so much, Claude and Monique!

Absolutely perfect for a family vacation. We LOVE Villa Tropicale!

We agree with the wonderful reviews. Here are our 1500 characters: We were a family vacation of four couples and kids age 5 months, 4, 11, and 14. The parents said a real vacation would be if they didn’t have to prepare meals or clean, so we asked Claude and Monique if they could recommend someone to care for us. Jasmine! Thank you for everything you did, especially the daily pancakes and good cheer, and for taking us to Carnivale. We miss you! Claude’s paella was fantastic! Also Sebastien (Monique’s son) owns Pocketchef SXM and he prepared delicious meals. We particularly enjoyed the raw tuna poke bowls and the grilled swordfish. Thank you Sebastien! Claude and Monique pre-stocked the house with cheeses, wine, baguettes, and basic staples. They had diapers, a baby seat for the bathtub, and organic baby food waiting for us. There was a crib and child’s bed in the large main bedroom which was both quiet and also safe in regards to the pool. We felt very cared for. We love boogie boarding. The surf and currents were too big for us most days, but one day was perfect and we swam for hours. The pool is warm and wonderful & the island has an abundance of calm-water beaches to explore. We adopted a puppy from SXM Paws! If you want to arrive from the airport to a magical oasis where you instantly feel cared for and at home, stop scrolling. Thank you SO much Claude, Monique, Jasmine, & Sebastien. We have the most wonderful memories and are so grateful we found Villa Tropicale!

Great Trip to Villa Tropicale

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Tropicale. The house is older but in good condition. Claude can't do enough for you!! His paella dinner was fantastic. The kitchen is fully equipped for all your cooking needs. The bathrooms are all renovated and very nice. The home is not on the beach but a very short walk. There are no beach chairs for this house which is inconvenient. The house next door has 8 lounge chairs but you can't use them. We recommend they purchase some inexpensive beach chairs. Overall we had a wonderful stay!!

5 star treatment at a 5 star villa

This villa is awesome! Our large group of 12 fit very comfortably in the five bedroom- five bath home. The kitchen is well equipped for large parties. The villa has everything a person would want in a vacation rental: large swimming pool, plenty of outdoor seating, outdoor bar, close proximity to the beach (one minute walk), and a large family room with pool table. The beach is very clean (no sargassum) and some days had waves that were great for boogie boarding Claude the owner went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. There was beer and wine waiting for us upon our arrival and he cooked us a great paella dish one night for dinner that was out of this world! I highly recommend this property!!

best property we stayed at as a family vacation

The home was very user friendly. It fit our family of 10 beautifully and there was even a spare room if needed. The kitchen was supplied for the most ambitious cook with everything from deep friers to every glass, dish, spice,cloth, cleaner and tool needed. The flow of the house was open and had large areas as we could all gather together or find a quiet place to read or write. No one felt cramped or confined. The pool area was amazing and where we spent the most time. We all enjoyed the home more than the island and decided to stay home rather than go fishing. My daughter wants to build a pool just like the one we lived in at Villa Tropicale. Claude and his wife were the perfect hosts. They were in touch with us before during and after the visit. No one wanted to leave this restful home with its large bedrooms and baths. The views and location were excellent and we were able to get to groceries, gas and restaurants easily. Claude prepared his famous paella and adapted it to family food allergies. It was fabulous and he gave us a cooking lesson. Order your dinner early in your stay as there was more than half left even after my grandson ate a half dozen chicken legs on his own.. We miss the Villa and Claude and his capable smiling wife. All was near to perfect.

Perfect Choice!!

This was our second year at this perfect villa!!! We were a group of 12 and a wide range of ages. The villa is laid out so perfect and the pool and tiki bar are a definite favorite!!! Claude is fabulous and his cooking is fabulous! The property is very well maintained!! We love it here!!! We hope to return for a third time! We cannot think of anything that needs to be improved on!!! Thank you Claude for another memorable vacation!!! We will see you again!!!

This location will be in our store of beautiful memories for a lifetime.

We had a large group of a variety of ages staying at this location. We all were pleasantly surprised at the how spacious and beautiful this home was. It offered privacy from neighbors and separated each bedroom area from the whole. It was just perfect for our needs. We also were so surprised at the hospitality shown by Claude. He prepared a meal for all of us which was totally above expectations. The pool was wonderful and the ocean with sandy beach was practically out the back door. I recommend this location highly.

Book this home!!

We stayed February 4-11, 2017. 9 people. House indoors- Beautiful. The layout is perfect. It's like you are staying at your own hotel. The downstairs rooms are all off the central courtyard so noise from the living room/outside are kept at bay. The 2 bedrooms upstairs are nice and separate. All rooms have their own bathroom/shower and a safe! Claude provides towels/hairdyer/some toiletries. The pool table was fun to use when needing a break from the sun! Kitchen fully stocked for cooking. House outdoors- Gorgeous. The grounds have tons of plants/trees. We saw iguanas/crab on the property during our stay. The pool area cannot be beat. The tiki bar is where we congregated. The pool is huge and has a big shallow end great for kids. Lots of outdoor seating. Location- Great bay/Phillipsburg was a 10 min drive with a fun boardwalk/great beach. It took just under 30 minutes to get to the airport to see the planes fly over Maho Beach. It takes 27 minutes to get to the top of the French side to Grand Case. You are more secluded which we ended up really liking so you will need a car if you want to explore the island. Lot of traffic between 4 and 6 so try to avoid the roads at that time. Beach- As we visited on a windier month the ocean was only swimmable in the shallow areas for those who are good swimmers. Pretty wavy beach great for body surfing. I was told the beach is much calmer different times of the year when winds die down. Hardly anyone on the beach with you. Things to note- There is no common bathroom, just bathrooms in each bedroom. Our family is very open to sharing bathrooms so when having cocktails we would just use the closest bathroom to the tiki hut which happened to be in my parents master bedroom instead of always walking to our individual ones. If you are a family not open to sharing bathrooms just keep this in mind for those who pick the upstairs rooms which are farthest from the pool/tiki hut. Home in a safe gated community. Very hard to find diet soda. Stop at a big grocery store before getting close to the house. Neither of the 2 close small markets had diet soda. Wifi works well even by the pool. Claude- Awesome guy with a incredible life story. We were unsure if we would like the paella he makes but it was fabulous. You can tell him if you want anything on the side and he had no problems accommodating our needs. I hope we are fortunate to stay here again in the future. You will not regret renting this home.

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL

OUR TRIP TO ST MARTIN WAS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. THE BEACH HOUSE WAS AMAZING, AND WAS MORE THAN WE COULD EVER HOPE FOR IN A RENTAL PROPERTY. IT WAS CLEAN, BEYOND FUNCTIONAL WITH EVERY AMENITY. CLAUDE, AND HIS FAMILY WERE SO HELPFUL. THEY GAVE US TIPS ON WHERE TO SHOP FOR GROCERIES, GIFTS, AND LOCAL RESTAURANTS. CLAUDE MADE US PAELLA, ONE NIGHT, THAT WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD. ST MARTIN IS A BEAUTIFUL ISLAND THAT I HAVE VISITED ,AS MY SECOND HOME, FOR YEARS. I WILL CONTINUE TO RETURN OFTEN. THE PEOPLE ARE NICE. THE ISLAND IS SAFE. CLAUDE ACTUALLY MADE IT MORE SPECIAL. Simply The Best! What a Find

Is all I kept hearing from my guests! It's a place that's out of the way but not. Claude is fantastic and cooks a mean paella!! He was also gracious enough to teach me how to cook some super tasty coconut curry shrimp :) As soon as we arrived his son was waiting there for us to escort us to the villa. Easy from there, everything as described, no mosquitos, and plenty of room for a group of 6 adults and 8 kids. Not many other places in SXM can provide for that kind of crew and I've been coming to this awesome island for over 20 years growing up. Claude when you're ready to sell let me know!!

"Splendiferous"!

Villa Tropicale served as the perfect haven to balance the vacation desires of adventurous wanderlust and relaxing retreat for our five couple group. A beautiful and spacious property situated on Guana Bay (just outside of Philipsburg) in a gated compound that is well maintained and appointed both inside & out. Owner Claude was incredibly accommodating, from greeting us at the airport, to making sure we had a cold beer by the pool upon arrival (and some bottles of wine in the cooler!) and guiding us thru the property. He called every morning to make sure our needs were being met and gave us great tips and advice as to restaurants and amenities and Island activities/places. And, he and wife Monique proved their culinary skills with a wonderful Paella dinner on the pool patio one evening. The pool and patio area, where we spent a lot of time, were outstanding. The house, with a spacious and well appointed kitchen, 3 first floor bedrooms off the inner courtyard with 2 on the second floor and the large living/dining areas (with a slate pool table) was well layed out and offered both great communal and more private space to meet the varied needs of all. Is quiet with very short walk thru a private paved path to the beach. This is a great property for a large family or group of friends. Would recommend it (and Claude) in a heartbeat! Was a perfect place to stay on a beautiful tropical island. Was a wonderful week.

Magnifique!!!!

From my first email with the owner, Claude, I knew I had located a gem. We are a group of early sixty folks who travel together each year around Memorial Day. This villa surpassed all of our expectations. The setting is magnificent and all of the landscaping and foliage is not captured in any photo. The kitchen was so well appointed and we enjoyed doing some cooking and relaxing by the pool. Each of the five bedrooms was beautiful and decorated with lovely appointments. There are so many unique sitting areas that you could escape with a book or a cold drink and not see another guest for a while. The outdoor area has so many comfortable chaise lounges and chairs and the pool is wonderful. We swam early morning, late afternoon and in the evening. We rented cars and had no trouble negotiating this wonderful island. One of the highlights of the trip was the evening that Claude and his wife cooked an amazing Paella dinner on an outdoor grill. They are a lovely and generous couple and we loved getting to know them. Another wonderful feature of this villa is the abundance of superb restaurants throughout the island. We ate amazing French food, local food, seafood and on and on. I am already planning my next trip back to this wonderful island and I highly recommend this property.

Wonderful trip to St. Maarten!

I'm a little late writing this review but better late than never! We were 5 couples travelling to celebrate turning 50 this year and this was the first time renting a house on VRBO for all of us. I have to say that after travelling this way I can't imagine staying in a hotel ever again! This property is amazing and the pictures don't do it justice. It is very grand and very clean. We had no complaints about the accommodations. Claude was great. We spent a lot of time around the pool and at the tiki bar. Also a lot of time exploring the island. I 100% recommend this property to anyone looking for a great vacation to St. Maarten.

Excellent property and location- and even better service provided by owner Claude

This property is A+! Excellent location and the home is gorgeous. Lots of space, lots to do and in wonderful condition. Claude the owner is very responsive and checked in frequently to make sure our stay was great. One day we even broke the coffee pot and Claude was there quickly and replaced it! The kids loved the pool table for down time and we all loved the pool. The home was beautifully built and decorated and every detail was cared for by Claude. The location on beach allowed for great sunrises and it was easy to get anywhere that we wanted to go. The home is also in a gated community which added to the feeling of safety. Wifi worked great the whole time and each bedroom even had its own wifi. One evening Claude made us a wonderful meal which we greatly appreciated. Claude made everything so simple and easy and truly cared about our enjoyment during the stay. This was a great great vacation and we are so glad that we selected Claude's property. Excellent place!

ABSOLUTELY PERFECT

We just returned home from our stay at Villa Tropicale. What a wonderful place to stay. Claude was fantastic! He was an awesome host and chef! He met us at the airport to help with some luggage and instantly we knew we had made the right decision in this villa. We were a group of 12 and the villa was perfect for this size group! We each had our own space but could enjoy time together! The pool area was where we spent so much time. Claude prepared a delicious meal for us one night...even the 6 year old loved it! The location of this beautiful villa is excellent! We will definitely look forward to returning to this villa. We would highly recommend Villas Tropicale! We hated to leave! Thank you so much Claude for all you do to make vacations so fantastic! We will see you again!!!
