It is very important for us to respond to such a specious and defamatory review, which the guest should frankly be ashamed of. ​Several issues were raised, all stemming from a lack of communication with the owner and a sudden weather event that struck the area during the final days of the stay. ​The door handle reported as broken (which belongs to just one door out of thirty) was completely intact when the guests checked in. Damage caused by the guests was turned into a complaint about the property. ​The cooktop burners would not light simply because the guests had turned off the power switch. Our staff had to physically go to the villa just to explain how to operate them. ​The pool issues were caused by a storm on August 16th, and their check-out was on August 17th. It is difficult to understand how the accumulation of leaves—which were naturally cleaned up at check-out—could have disrupted their stay. Furthermore, the damage to the patio umbrellas was caused by the guests themselves, as they failed to close them during high winds. ​It is necessary to respond so guests understand that renting a private villa is not a hotel service; in the case of extraordinary weather, additional cleaning can be requested, but cannot be demanded as an automatic entitlement. ​We are deeply disappointed that Melody wrote these things, especially since she made no mention of the property itself, its features, or the dedicated support she received in organizing her medical care prior to arrival.
