The Laurel Bed And Breakfast

Bedrooms 1
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, 4 Sleeps

The Laurel is a one-suite bed and breakfast with private bath and sunroom located in the heart of Mid-City. The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and the Endymion Mardi Gras Parade are both a 10-minute walk away. The French Quarter and Central Business District are just a 10-minute drive away. There is a bus stop and the street car (trolly) line within walking distance (5 minutes) which runs to both of these destinations. It is in a residential neighborhood and is only a 5-minute walk to City Park and The New Orleans Museum of Art.

Two cats, Ranger and Billy, reside at the Laurel.

We offer a continental breakfast of croissants, muffins, assorted pastries, orange juice, coffee/tea. Special requests for non-cooked items are welcomed (yogurt, cereal, etc).

There is plenty of on-street parking and off-street parking is available upon request.

The home is a beautiful 2-story stucco structure with a red Spanish tile roof. It is architecturally unique and interesting with its arched doorways and doors. The original structure is intact with very few changes to the original design. There are original wood floors and ceramic tiles which have been beautifully restored. The long center hallway serves as the perfect photo gallery for Eliot's photos.

The raised front porch and the front courtyard-style patio is wonderful and a great place to just sit and do nothing. The corner lot offers a beautiful view of the peaceful surroundings of the neighborhood.

Guests can enjoy City Park's Museum of Art, botanical gardens and new walking park.

Laura and Eliot Kamenitz have owned and resided in their home since May 1995. They are the fifth and current owners of this 1924 raised cottage-style house. Laura is a Chemical Engineer and Eliot is a professional Photographer. Ranger is the resident cat whose main job is to do nothing when he's not sleeping. They are all retired and enjoying the life of leisure!

The Laurel is licensed with the City of New Orleans and has been in operation since 1996. Member PIANO, Professional Innkeepers of New Orleans.

Come join us and enjoy the experience of being 'At Home in New Orleans' with Laura and Eliot.

Gorgeous home and wonderful accomodations

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at the Laurel B & B! The bedroom and bathroom were luxurious and the sunroom was the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring NOLA. The neighborhood is convenient for walking to many places and the porch and patio were lovely. Laura was delightful to visit with and we look forward to returning when we visit New Orleans again!

Great B&B near City Park!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here a couple of nights during our 10 year anniversary road trip. I was born in New Orleans and lived there as a little girl and I wanted to visit again and introduce my hubby to some of my cousins. Laura and Elliot were awesome hosts! We talked with them several times and learned tons about the city and got some great recommendations for dining out! It was such a blessing to be staying with home owners who know and love NOLA! The guest suite has its own bath and sun room and it was very comfortable and full of history! While in the city we ate very delicious gumbo at Mandina's and had a terrific lunch at Wayfare on Freret St. Our favorite part of the city was the Garden District and we enjoyed relaxing and walking around Audubon Park! We are not "crowds" people and the Quarter was packed because of a Festival - hopefully next time we will venture down to Jackson Square to visit some of the museums and Cafe du Monde! I really want to be able to blow powdered sugar into my husband's face! There is another restaurant - Morning Call Cafe - that sells traditional beignets in City Park, but it is cash only (or at least it was when we were there last week - the internet may have been down in the neighborhood).

Fort Worth, TX

Quiet neighborhood and comfortable rooms

  • 4 of 5

The B&B is located in a quiet residential neighborhood, excellent for an evening stroll and close to many really excellent restaurants. Easy access to downtown and the many attractions available. The New Orleans Art museum is very close. Our hosts were very accommodating and helpful with information about New Orleans and the surrounding attractions.

The Laurel is licensed and a member of the Professional Innkeepers Association of New Orleans (PIANO).

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Debbie! Thank you for the wonderful review of our Laurel. Eliot and I both enjoyed meeting you both and are happy you chose us for the New Orleans visit. I'm happy that I had the chance to meet you before I had to fly off back overseas. We hope to see you in again :).
