City Park House Rental Photos and Description

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, 4 Sleeps

The Laurel is a one-suite bed and breakfast with private bath and sunroom located in the heart of Mid-City. The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and the Endymion Mardi Gras Parade are both a 10-minute walk away. The French Quarter and Central Business District are just a 10-minute drive away. There is a bus stop and the new street car (trolly) line within walking distance (5 minutes) which runs to both of these destinations. It is in a residential neighborhood and is only a 5-minute walk to City Park and The New Orleans Museum of Art.

Two cats, Ranger and Billy, reside at the Laurel.

We offer a continental breakfast of croissants, muffins, assorted pastries, orange juice, coffee/tea. Special requests for non-cooked items are welcomed (yogurt, cereal, etc).

There is plenty of on-street parking and off-street parking is available upon request.

The home is a beautiful 2-story stucco structure with a red Spanish tile roof. It is architecturally unique and interesting with its arched doorways and doors. The original structure is intact with very few changes to the original design. There are original wood floors and ceramic tiles which have been beautifully restored. The long center hallway serves as the perfect photo gallery for Eliot's photos.

The raised front porch and the front courtyard-style patio is wonderful and a great place to just sit and do nothing. The corner lot offers a beautiful view of the peaceful surroundings of the neighborhood.

Guests can enjoy City Park's Museum of Art, botanical gardens and new walking park.

Laura and Eliot Kamenitz have owned and resided in their home since May 1995. They are the fifth and current owners of this 1924 raised cottage-style house. They both have professional careers; Laura is an Engineer and Eliot is a staff photographer for the New Orleans Advocate local newspaper. Ranger is the resident cat whose main job is to do nothing when he's not sleeping.

The Laurel is licensed with the City of New Orleans and has been in operation since 1996. Member PIANO, Professional Innkeepers of New Orleans.

Come join us and enjoy the experience of being 'At Home in New Orleans' with Laura and Eliot.

Hi Debbie! Thank you for the wonderful review of our Laurel. Eliot and I both enjoyed meeting you both and are happy you chose us for the New Orleans visit. I'm happy that I had the chance to meet you before I had to fly off back overseas. We hope to see you in again :).

Comfortable Room, Good Hosts, Nice Location

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was fantastic! We picked The Laurels for the location to City Park; we ran a 5k in the park and wanted to be close enough to walk. Not only was it walking distance to the park, but within walking distance there are plenty of restaurants and stores. We didn't have to drive anywhere.

The B&B itself was great. The bed was very comfortable, the sitting room/porch was nice, and it was quiet. We felt very well rested.

Laura and Eliot were good hosts. Breakfast was served at our convenience, and they were great to talk to. The photographs in the house are cool to look at, and I loved the antiques. To top it off, Laura is very knowedgeable about the area and gave wonderful recommendations. All in all, it was a great stay!

Quiet location near City Park

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I chose the Laurel Bed and Breakfast because it was close to my son's apartment and a short walk to a street car stop. It was the perfect location! The bed was so comfortable and we enjoyed hanging out in the sun porch or front porch whenever we weren't "out and about." We couldn't have been happier staying here and plan to return in the future.

A Delight

  • 5 of 5

If you want to stay in a lovely home in a beautiful, quiet, residential neighborhood of New Orleans, within easy walking distance of good cafes, the City Park and art museum, and only a few blocks walk to catch the Canal Street streetcar which takes you directly into town to the French Quarter, then Laurel B&B is for you. The accommodations include a large bedroom, attached bathroom, and attached sun room, within the spacious, antique-filled house of the hosts. There is a lovely sitting porch in the front, plus a fountain and a mosaic-decorated pergola. Laura and Eliot were great hosts, very helpful with city and sights suggestions, and they served a continental breakfast each morning on their beautiful, handmade ceramic dishes. Their house and the experience of staying there oozes charm and individuality. We would return in a second.

Comfortable Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We came to New Orleans to visit our daughter primarily and to do a little sight seeing. The Laurel Bed and Breakfast was the perfect location for us... close enough to the places we wanted to see and far enough from the Quarter that it was quiet. The house is beautiful, full of antiques and items from their world travels and the walls lined with photographs taken by our host, Elliott. Our large room was great, the bed was very comfortable (though I needed a step stool to get into it), the sun room attached was a great bonus place to relax. My only complaint would be that the hardwood floors squeaked, so when my husband would get up in the middle of the night, I knew. Breakfast was continental (croissants, muffins) and the coffee was the best I've ever had, they always left a newspaper, which my husband loved. They even went out and got non-dairy creamer especially for me. We hardly ever saw our hosts, Laura & Elliott, but when we did they were full of information and answered all our questions. There was plenty of free parking in front of the house, unlike when you stay in a hotel. They have 2 cats but we couldn't tell. We only saw one of them because we asked since we are cat lovers. Fell in love with their 18 lb. Billy right away.

Like staying with Friends

It was a very relaxed stay at the Laurel Bed and Breakfast and enjoyed meeting Laura and Elliot. Beautiful yard in safe neighborhood close to my favorite City Park and Bayou St. John. Walking from this location is great! Nice suite. Easy come and go from the house and easy parking on the street. Will be back.
