We loved our stay here. Perfect layout for two families- two master bedrooms with baths and a room with bunk beds for the kids. Kitchen was well stocked. Used the fireplace several times. Best part was the new deck and hot tub and absolutely gorgeous view!
Six of us near-seniors do a long fall weekend getaway, and this year our 10th year, we chose Wintergreen. This unit is very unique as it sits on a cliff, accessible by a long wooden walkway from the driveway. It has a large hot tub on the huge deck that looks out on the valley with mountains across the way. It would have been wonderful, had the hot tub worked ( two weeks before our arrival, we were warned that it was broken, and given a discount - it was supposed to be replaced, so if you book, check in advance), and we didn't have fog and rain 2 of our 3 days at the property. Of all the properties that we have rented over the past 10 years, this one was average overall, because it needs a good overhaul and cleaning. The light fixture at the driveway needs replacement, as it is falling apart, and the bulb was out, so we couldn't see the step up then down from the driveway, and one of us tripped!. There were dozens of dead flies on the window sills (this should have been caught by the cleaning crew). We also found a handful of candy wrappers under one of the sofas, again, should have been caught by the cleaning crew. Since it was raining for 2 days, we used the TVs more than usual, and the reception was poor, snowy (on all of them). The TV in the Living Room was too small for the size of the room, given how affordable, large flat screens are these days. We also came finding a dehumidifier noisily running in the downstairs family room, and it was a bit musty smelling down there. The bedding was comfortable, the bathrooms were fine, and the kitchen was in good working order. The dining table was very nicely sized, and it looks like the huge deck would have been great, if the weather cooperated. So, if they clean it up, improve the TV reception, and upgrade the flat screen TVs, it would have received a "very good" rating. Lots of breweries, wineries, and distilleries are nearby. The Wintergreen facilities looked really nice, but we like to hike, and didn't really use the facilities.
We have stayed numerous times over the years at this same house. In proximity to the lodge, the location is wonderful!!
Love having the hot tub and pool towels provided, however; the house is getting older and looking/smelling a little worn. The kitchen needs to be re-supplied with more reasonable-sized pots, pans, bowls, etc for 8-10 people. The drawers seemed a little dirty and unorganizied. Cobwebs hanging in the family room. The deck is in need of repair work and cleaning. In general the house needs some upgrades inside and out.
With a little TLC and improvements we can definitely recommend this house, as we have in the past. We would love to stay there again next winter:)
We were very pleased with this home. Very clean, nicely decorated, spectacular views from all the many windows (it sits down on the side of the mt) , nice to have hot tub, plenty of room and nice layout for families with children. Staying in this house is definitely a treat! There are a few things to consider. We stayed when there was a lot of snow and the driveway is very steep (at least for us) and we did not feel comfortable driving down it even with 4x4 vehicles. We parked in cul de sac, so a bit of a walk to unload. We had no cellular reception...and we have Verizon. Not on shuttle route but very short drive to Mt Inn to ski. But the pros certainly out weigh any cons!!!
