Your Private Retreat …..

Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway, family vacation, girls weekend, or just a quiet spot to enjoy the serenity of the Chesapeake Bay----

This is the beach house for you

With an open floor plan this a perfect spot to vacation with family or friends. The warm, lived-in feeling this house provides comes from years of our family truly loving this magical place we call “the shore house”.

Our family has been making memories here for 35 years. We have opened our home to you to share the tranquility of Crystal Beach. Situated at the end of a quiet dead end road, this bay front cottage awaits you. Come escape the crowds and enjoy the private beach right out your front door. Calm shallow waters of the bay make it perfect for launching a kayak or paddle board and for young children to play. Bring your boat or rent one in town. There is a public launch available blocks of the house.

We love the remote feeling this cottage has though it is just a few miles from the charming historic town of Onancock. With its artisans feel, Onancock offers restaurants, galleries, antique shops, bakery, movie theater, boutiques, and quiet streets to stroll.

We invite you to come experience the magic of the shore.

About Leslie Baltimore

Build in 1911 and moved from Accomack to Crystal Beach in 1946, Mary and Moe Moran bought this little cottage in 1979. Then it was a 1 room cottage with a small attic and wrap around porches. Located just an hour and a half away from their Virginia Beach home, it was the perfect getaway for them and their three children. After being damaged during hurricane Floyd in 1999, the cottage was raised onto pilings and remodeled. Though most of the original structure is still used. Over the years, the three Moran children have each had children of their own. These three generations have gathered each summer for 'Moran's Cousins Camp'. We come from Virginia Beach, Richmond and Ohio to fish, crab, kayak, swim, and reconnect as a family. Many happy memories have been made here.

Leslie Baltimore purchased this cottage in 1979

Why Leslie Baltimore chose Eastern Shore

The Eastern Shore is still an unrealized jewel for the masses. A few of us have figured out that it is a paradise without the crowds--a peaceful getaway.

What makes this cottage unique

The views from every window in the house tell the story of why we love Crystal Beach. It is so peaceful and beautiful.

A family treasure, great home, nice views, adorable beach, and all the rooms had their own character

  • 5 of 5

Great vacation home. We had the the last of Hurrican Harvey so it rained and was cloudy the entire time, but it was still better then being in NOVA weekend traffic. Close to Chincotrague and Assateague for the day. Everything you could think of is at the house down to bandaids. Great for a large family or just a couple. Thanks for sharing your family treasure with us 🦀

Peaceful Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We wanted a quiet and peaceful place to retreat from from our busy lives. This fit the bill perfectly. The home was well appointed and comfortable. The setting on the Bay was idyllic. And the support of the owners made things very easy. And it was super quiet!

wonderful and peaceful spot in the bay side

  • 5 of 5

we had a very good experience at every step of the processes of renting this place. the owner was very helpful and there were no bad surprises upon arrival. the house is confortable for up to 6-8 people and equipped with good appliances. the area is secluded and quiet, 15min driving from nearest town.

want to swim? just go downstairs and get into the water. what to go canoeing/fishing? same, just go downstairs and take off. i would certainly recommend to bring a caneo. there is only one road to walk, so the canoe opens up other possibilities. the water is shallow and warm; very good place for small children.

Nice, quiet place on the bay

  • 4 of 5

Our family had a great two week stay in the summer. The house is located in a sparsely populated area so most days we had the whole beach to ourselves. The cove is shallow and is quite warm in the afternoons, which made it ideal for our 3 and 6 year kids to play. You'll want to bring the bug spray for outdoor times. Sunsets on the back porch overlooking the bay were spectacular. There are a handful of decent restaurants and shops in Onancock, which was about a 15 minute drive from the house.

Amazing Cottage on the Bay

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay in the cottage! There were five of us and it felt very comfortable with everything we needed for our stay. The views are fantastic and staying in the cottage gives you a feeling of true relaxation and peace. The owner is very responsive and provides tons of useful information about the area. We could feel the love with which the family treats this fantastic place. Thank you for sharing it with us!

Loved Everything

  • 5 of 5

We recently rented this house in May 2017. We never heard of Onancock before, so this was all very new to us. We chose this house due to the private beach shown in the pictures and it did not disappoint one bit. The sunsets were wonderful! The house was very clean, the bathroom was nice and large, the decorations were cute, and there is a great DVD collection. Our favorite bedroom was the top floor where you can see water out of every window. We opened up the windows and fell asleep to the sound of the waves washing ashore. The downtown area of Onancock was very quiet when we stayed. You could walk in the streets and not worry about cars. The Charlotte Hotel & Restaurant had AMAZING food, The Corner Bakery had the best donuts I've ever tasted, and Janet's General Store Café had a great breakfast. Unfortunately, we missed out on the art galleries because most were closed on Sunday and Monday, but we plan to go back during a different time of the week when more businesses are open. The house and town was a great discovery for us and we definitely plan to come back. The overall atmosphere was everything we were looking for. Leslie was very responsive to all questions.
