  • Clean, spacious 4/2 home close to beach

"This home is beautiful and spacious--with some historic charm, but also modern amenities like central A/C, dishwasher, W/D, etc. Our family came here to visit close friends who own a condo in the area; the screened in porch was one of our favorite hang-out spots! The house is on a lovely street, and is very close to the beautiful kid-friendly city park and beach. The home is very kid-friendly--one of the rooms is designed for kids with many games and kid-friendly movies available for rainy days. In fact, the owners seemed to anticipate most things one might need--there were lots of linens, towels, detergent, trash bags, even Ziploc bags. The outdoor shower was great to have, and the free WiFi service was great. The only negatives are that there were no candles or flashlights to be found when power went out briefly during a storm (but as we have flashlights on our cell phones it was not major issue), and the washing machine spin cycle sometimes did not work, making drying times excessively long. Otherwise the house is beautiful and well maintained. We would stay there again."

  • Nice house and fun trip!

"We had a very nice time at the Quarter Master! It was a beautiful home with multiple spaces to hang out and relax. We had children and multiple families that shared the home. We had extra bathrooms for everyone. The kitchen was a perfect size to prepare meals. We wished we could use the fire pit in the back but we were visiting in a heat wave. The location was a short walk to the beach that was so nice and calming. We had fun playing volleyball, walking the pier, and using floats in the water. The local playground is also fun for the kids. Check out the state park free activities like owl watching and kayaking. Everyone enjoyed themselves."

  • Absolutely beautiful!

"We had never been to Cape Charles - but absolutely loved the quaint little town. We rented Julia's home for 3 days in July and it was one of the best travel decisions we made - we had a fantastic time there. Her home is absolutely gorgeous. Spacious, excellent location with a 5 minute walk to the beach and a similar walk to restaurants, pharmacy, etc. Lots of places within driving distance - VA Beach, Norfolk were about 45 min to an hour away (depending on traffic) and Chincoteague was about 2 hours. The house is extremely spacious and more importantly gives you the feel of "home", not just a rental property. A very warm décor, beautiful pictures and art, books, cozy furniture (that large chair in the living room is my favorite), a well stocked kitchen and super comfortable beds and linen - all made it seem like visiting family rather than someone that we had just conversed on the phone or email. The house came with a ton of extras - toiletries, bath linen that guests are welcome to use, groceries, beer, bread and other eatables, chairs and other things to take to the beach, bikes, games if you stayed in. We absolutely loved it - and if it were not a 7 hour drive from Charlotte, we'd go back a few times each year. Julia - thank you! You are an extremely generous and gracious host. Look forward to our next visit."

  • Nice country cottage!

"This home was perfect for "home base" to visit Williamsburg, Assateague Island and Kiptopeke Park. The town of Cape Charles was cute and had some great restaurants and Kiptopeke was so close. A few things that were fine for us but might bug other people. 1. The bedrooms didn't have blinds (it's out in the country so privacy isn't an issue but the sun will come in your room early) We get up early so no big deal. 2. There wasn't a tv and there didn't seem to be Internet (although we had a grumble, our kids can live unplugged for a few days). 3. It is a country living (which we enjoyed) but you will have to deal with well water. But as long as you're flexible, it's a great place and a great value!!"
