About the property

2 bedrooms and 1 bath, with a huge fenced yard - adjacent to the Rail Trail!

This is a precious little house built in the late 1940's. It has one king bedroom and one queen bedroom, sharing a totally renovated bathroom with a beautiful glass shower. There is a 40' HD flat panel tv in the living room, and another 32' in the den / laundry room. The dining room seats 6, and there is a full kitchen with all new stainless appliances. There is a full size front loading washer dryer in the den. We are trying to figure out the best way to screen them, but they are brand new and pretty nice looking, so until we have a better solution, they are being shown off! Consider it a quirk ...

The screened porch has upholstered seating for 4, and there is an outdoor patio and deck for dining al fresco! The huge fenced yard is filled with lovely old trees, nice and shady!

Since our FABULOUS Spanish Moss Rail Trail is just 4 houses away, we provide bikes and helmets and locks - and a detailed map showing additional 'back roads' to get you all over downtown and our wonderful historic district!

About Erica

We looked for 7 years - up and down the east coast - for just the RIGHT spot to move as soon as our son went off to college. We always came back to Beaufort!

Growing up in Florida, John and I spent 9 years in Houston then 23 in the DC Metro Area, where we raised our son, Ryan. It was the perfect place to raise him, but WAY too cold for us Floridians! When Ryan headed off to Syracuse (BURRRRR!) John sold his IT company and I told Marriott we were heading south. I continued to design hotels for a couple years, then we started buying our own properties and it has become a full time job renovating them and running them as Short Term Rentals. We meet the nicest guests and are having a great time! Ryan has since graduated and is a short drive away in much warmer Atlanta - and he now understands that you don't HAVE to be that COLD!

Since moving here we have become very active in this wonderful community and even introduced a Dragon Boat Festival! We just had our 2nd annual DragonBoat Beaufort Race Day in late July, bringing 28 teams (about 600 people actually on the water - a couple thousand spectators) to our glorious waterfront park for a great day of competition and FUN for a very good cause. DragonBoat Beaufort supports cancer survivors and supporters locally, in individualized ways, all over Beaufort County. You can see a great video - thank you to the Beaufort International Film Festival - at the end of the listings in the URL section. WAY COOL!!!!!

Anyway - we love Beaufort and can't wait for you to visit!

Southern Charm Gem

This place is amazing! The house is in great shape and very clean. The backyard is huge with plenty of space for the dogs to run around. And the location is perfect! I couldn't have asked for better hosts or house. The house comes stocked with everything you'll need from your morning coffee to day passes to the beach. There's four cruiser bikes that are perfect for the trail within a few yards of the house. My only suggestion is to bring bug spray. Just like any southern state the mosquitoes can get pretty bad but a little repelant does the trick. Overall we had an amazing time at this house and will be back again soon!

Such a beautiful home and perfect hospitality!

Beautiful home on quiet street less than a block from the Spanish Moss Trail and only 1.5 miles from Downtown Beaufort.

We loved our stay on Hermitage and will be back later this month. Comfortable beds, great stocked kitchen, lovely decor, and great screened porch and big backyard. Highly recommended!

Clean & Comfy

We really enjoyed our short stay at your rental on Hermitage Rd. Our only negative comment would be the check-in & check-out times. We felt a little rushed to get out of the house by 10am & would have loved to check in around 1pm on Friday. Other than that, the house was very clean, in a great location, & felt like our home away from home. We really enjoyed our stay so thanks for opening your home to us & providing all the needed items to make our trip enjoyable!

Owner's Response: Hi! Thank you for your review and for choosing our little Hermitage House! We strive to make sure all of our houses are exceptionally clean and well maintained. We make every effort to accommodate requests for early check-in and/or late check-out when we receive them. We never know what we are going to face when a guest checks out, so we must anticipate the worst case scenario - and that our housekeeping and maintenance team will need every minute between 10 and 4 to make sure the house meets our stringent standards. Thankfully, most of the time our guests leave our houses as we would hope they would, and we are able to allow variations in check-in and check-out when requested. I do not see any record that you requested a variation. We would not have been able to make your check-in any earlier on that Friday, as we were using the 2 days before your visit to have an irrigation, anti-mosquito system installed - lousy weather early in the week delayed the sod installation, and at 1PM on 2 June, as our team said, the yard looked like a bomb had gone off in the front yard! As usual, they worked incredibly hard to have it looking perfect for your arrival. They weren't able to finish the front portion of the sod until you left on Monday morning, but they did the best they could. We would welcome a future visit from you and suggest that if you are unhappy about times, please ASK if we can modify them - as our guests will tell you, we accommodate these requests whenever possible. My phone number is on all of your documentation and I welcome calls from our guests. Please come again, and please ASK me if there is something that will make your visit a better experience. We absolutely try to do all we can to make our guests happy! Thank you again for coming and for taking the time to write a review. We will do all we can to give you our usual 5 star experience! Erica

Freshly painted house with cheerful flowers and well groomed lawn positively impressed us.

Quiet neighborhood, loved being a few houses from biking/walking on the rail trail which provides lovely views of the marsh areas, enjoyed spending time in the backyard enjoying the sunshine and letting the dog explore, nice firm bed and breezy ceiling fans that we've grown accustomed to in our own house, adequate kitchen, appreciated the helpful binder with suggested restaurants and points of interest, found the keyless entry and exit to be extremely helpful and easy to use!

Lovely house!

Very attractive decor, very clean and very convenient to everything in Beaufort. We were happy to find such a nice rental that was pet friendly. Our dog loved the large fenced-in backyard and he and I really enjoyed our twice-daily walks on the Spanish Moss Trail, which was a very short walk down the street. We would love to return to this rental!

Another Wonderful Stay

This was our third stay in one of John and Erica's homes. They know how to do it right. This is a beautiful home on a quiet street that is centrally located to everything. We only regret we didn't have time to avail ourselves of the beautiful bikes and hit the Trail.

This little house is in Beaufort's prestigious Hermitage Neighborhood, just 4 houses from the Spanish Moss Rail Trail - currently 3.3 miles, eventually 13.6 miles - a 12 foot wide concrete trail on an abandoned rail line. It is a beautiful ride (or walk) to Battery Creek, the historic Depot, and all the way to Port Royal. It is also an easy back road bike ride to our historic district, the waterfront park, the grocery store, and all of the downtown restaurants and shops - and we provide the bikes!

This is our first Short Term Rental outside the Historic District, and I think it will be very popular. We have spent months renovating this cute little house, and we love the neighborhood with it's beautiful trees and close proximity to everything! We are just blocks from the Technical College of the Lowcountry and Beaufort Memorial Hospital.

Beaufort is a wonderful destination with a rich history surrounded on all sides by beautiful water. Our proximity to Charleston, Savannah, and Hilton Head makes it a convenient place to 'live' while exploring our beautiful lowcountry!
