Two routers ensure GREAT, high speed fiber optic cable wifi Internet connection.

WE LIVE ON SITE in the lower level of the clean and bright, three level house, with our own, separate kitchen, bathroom and living quarters downstairs.

About 5,000 square feet is left available for guests to enjoy!

~Upstairs 'Peter Pan' room with queen sized bed plus single sized futon sofa sleeper (no closet; portable clothes rack and dresser provided). No view. About Celeste Meyeres

Hi! We're Nicholas & Celeste Meyeres and we adore the Southwestern high desert, nature, wildlife and meeting new people!

Nicholas is our hospitality expert (before welcoming guests full-time in our home, he was a manager at both a top rated country club in Kansas for 6 years as well as the Hospitality Services manager for 10 years at Best Friends Animal Society)!

Celeste, whose nickname is Crickets, is founder, owner, designer and one-woman-knitter (she's created and sold thousands of scarves, throw blankets, etc. including a shawl for Stevie Nicks to wear on stage while on tour with Fleetwood Mac)!

In 2013 we bought a huge 'mini mansion' on a wild 3 acres with nothing but open country and spacious views behind. We call it the 'Burro Flats High Desert Lodge.'

This home and location is so beautiful that it delights us when others enjoy it, too.

We live in the downstairs of the three level house (the 2nd largest in Kanab), with separate entry, kitchen, bathroom, et cetera, so you'll mainly only see us at check in and check out (when we welcome you and then when we say 'Bon voyage, see you next time!')

Celeste Meyeres purchased this house in 2013

Why Celeste Meyeres chose Utah

There is absolutely no other place like the southern Utah southwestern high desert. This area boasts honest, friendly people, breathtaking skies, colorful rock formations and unique and diverse plant and wild life. This is our home for life... and we invite you to make it your home during your stay with us!

What makes this house unique

We've both always dreamed of having a *huge* house with plenty of room for family get togethers on a private, uncrowded property space! As soon as we 'met' this house, we knew that it was perfect for us! We love sharing this once-in-a-lifetime find with others.

A great place to stay!!

  • 5 of 5

I have stayed at a number of vacation rentals around the US and have never found one better than Burro Flats. Eleven adults stayed here for five nites and loved this large, beautiful home in the most gorgeous of settings. After each day of hiking in N. AZ & S. UT, it was a perfect place to refresh and rest up. The quiet rural setting provided lovely sunset views

and the night skies were spectacular. The gathering areas including the deck were spacious and pleasantly decorated. Each bedroom was large and the numerous bathrooms were appreciated. The two sweet burros were enjoyed by all of us as we watched their antics, mornings and evenings. Management, Celeste, was gracious and most congenial. She was available if we needed her, but never interfering.  We will recommend Burro Flats to our families and friends when they are traveling in the Kanab Area.

Owner's Response: It was a memorable and very pleasurable experience hosting these active, yet laidback guests! They were the picture of outgoing, appreciative and genuine. They were a perfect fit for our home and it was so enjoyable visiting with them about hiking, sustainable gardening, hearing about their lives and adventures, and even exchanging notes about bird sightings on the property! We can't say enough good things about these fabulous folks :)

Owner's Response: The person who booked this stay was quite nice. He confirmed with us before we even approved his inquiry that the house rules and the fact that we live on site were not a problem. It is very important to us that our guests are well prepared and delighted with their stay, so we make sure that our house rules, including our no-pets policy and the fact that we live on site, is easily understood from our listing, our response to inquiries and our welcome message. The person who left this review was not the same person who made the reservation. When she arrived, she had an unfriendly, abrasive demeanor. She would not be welcome back, based on her rudeness and her readiness to leave an inappropriately low review instead of influencing the family to stay somewhere else more suitable to her demands.

Wild Hogs !

  • 5 of 5

Celeste and Nicholas were the best hosts anyone could ask for.

We had 16 people and we had everything we needed and more.

The house is perfect for large groups and the views are spectacular.

Location is great for touring all the National Parks and Best Friends Animal Sanctuary which should not be missed.

All the dining recommendations proved to be excellent.

You won't find a better place or better people.

The house is lovely and Celeste and Nicholas are great hosts!

  • 5 of 5

We rented the entire house for a family gathering and were very pleased. The house is beautiful and had plenty of room for the 13 of us. Celeste and Nicholas were so friendly and welcoming and were knowledgeable about the area. I highly recommend this property.

Owner's Response: This family was warm, friendly and treated us as though we belonged! We really appreciate that kind of attitude! Plus it made us so happy to see them all, from grandkids to grandparents and every age in between, having a good time and making themselves at home!

Unique

  • 4 of 5

I have stayed at many VRBO properties and this house was very nice.

One caution which was an issue for our stay, is the misrepresentation of bathrooms. There are only 2 1/2 baths in the house which guests have access to. One in the master, 1/2 bath on the main floor and 1 upstairs (to accommodate 4 bedrooms on that level). We worked through it but with 4 couples we had to work out shower schedules.

Celeste was very helpful during the entire rental process, even sending a weather forecast to us prior to our arrival. Then she took us on a tour of the house explaining any details required.

Sunrises and sunsets were spectacular!

Owner's Response: Thank you again to Rhonda and your motor biking group for staying with us! The bathroom configurations (two 1.5 baths and a half bath) are described as clearly as possible in the listing description. 4 shower heads, 2 tubs and 3 toilets + 5 sinks, with all of the amenities (ample towels, shampoo, etc + 5 hair dryers,) would generally be more than enough for 4 couples. There was no attempt to misrepresent; in fact, if we had realized that the description wasn't understood then we would have gone over it with you during one of our many communications prior to your arrival. Other than the sting of this less than 5 star review when we did everything that we could to ensure a 5 star stay, including letting you use our personal garage to store your bikes, we enjoyed your stay and appreciated your group's quiet, fun ways and what good care you took of our home. Celeste & Nicholas

Best Little House (LOL) in Kanab

  • 5 of 5

I think we were the first folks to stay in Celeste and Nicholas' home. It is wonderful, magical, and fun! You never know what you are going to find here....there are surprises around every corner. We stayed in the Cowboy room....we could have slept in a different room every night, but we didn't! We did relax on the futon in the loft on a couple of lazy afternoons. The only thing that would have made this trip better was if Nicholas had been there and cooked for us!

If you can get Celeste to take you to her yarn room, you will see an array of colors!! She is soooo talented! Both of them are sooo friendly and can tell you about great places to visit.

Our reason for coming back to Kanab was to volunteer at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. You really have to drive up and see BFAS and the gorgeous land it sits upon. If you really want a treat, volunteer just for a morning or afternoon. They have dogs, cats, piggy's, bunnies, parrots, horses and much, much more. Best Friends also has tours that are free and will show you what great work they are doing!

Other things are the north rim of the Grand Canyon, Zion, Page, lots of gorgeous scenery in Utah and Arizona. Go to the Rocking V (get a reservation if it is during Grand Canyon season) and have lunch or dinner, you will have a blast.

So come to Kanab......you won't be sorry!! Come and visit the SECOND Biggest House in Kanab!

Owner's Response: LOL! Love you and so happy that we have become such good friends.... all because you came and stayed with us and so we got to know each other a little! Keep on shining your light and spreading your goodness. xoxo, Celeste & Nicholas
