About Brad Luth

I loved visiting Steamboat Springs so much after purchasing a condo in town, that I decided to become a year round resident! So I can not only provide input towards the little things you wonder about . . . such as the best restaurants in town, but I can also give you a locals perspective on all the best places to fish, mountain bike, snowshoe, find the leftover powder stashes and all the other activities that keep people coming back to our Mountain town. Most importantly, you will also have someone locally to count on (via phone or at your doorstep) to ensure your vacation runs smoothly for you and your family!

Why Brad Luth chose Steamboat Springs

There are many lodging options to choose from in Steamboat, but few locations provide the convenience to the slopes at such a great value as the units at Storm Meadows Christie Base. Steamboat Springs is a great little mountain town with friendly locals and plenty of small town charm that keeps people coming back year after year!

What makes this condo unique

Stand on the deck and look at the View - whether you are here in the Winter and lifts are running or staying during the Summer and watching the Hot Air Balloons rise of the valley - the views from this unit are spectacular!

Good value for location.

  • 3 of 5

I would give this 3 & 1/2 stars if I could. This condo is a good value for the location but there are some issues for renters to be aware. It is listed with no A/C which would normally not be an issue in the mountains but when it gets into the 90s during the day it got pretty uncomfortable until the evening temps cools it down. The photos make it look more spacious than it is; the kitchen aisle is only wide enough for one person to be in the room but it was open to the great room so it seems bigger than it is. The 2 bedrooms on the second floor are side by side so you have to go through the 2nd bedroom to get to the bath. That bath and the 2nd bedroom have a very sloped ceiling so it would not be comfortable for anyone taller than about 5' 6". Having said that, the condo was very clean and well appointed. We had a small plumbing problem the first day and Brad was there in less than 30 minutes on a holiday to fix it. I would definitely stay here again, especially during ski season since it is right on the slopes and the lack of A/C would not be an issue.

Ski Trip

  • 4 of 5

Great location to view the New Years Eve torch light parade. We stayed for four nights and it was exactly what we needed. We walked to the bus, the shops at ski time square and to the gondola. It was not an exact ski out as we had to walk down two flights of steps, across a road and through a pass to access the slopes. But, we could ski in. The decor was a little dated but overall we would stay here again. Brad was very responsive to questions and would seek out any property he managed for the future.

A little good; a little bad...

  • 4 of 5

The property was nice and well-located - excellent views! Easy access to ski lockers and hot tub - walking distance to slopes not bad. This is the "good".

The "bad" was quite possibly simply timing. We were there over the Martin Luther King Jr. weekend (2017) and there was a large group of college students staying at the resort - I am confident we were the only family in the building. Drinking and excessive noise until past 2a every night plus a 24-hr haze of marijuana smoke in the hallway drove us out of the unit two days earlier than planned.

On a positive note, the Management company was responsive to our initial and ongoing complaints, and ultimately, they were very understanding and supportive of our decision to vacate early - they also "made things right" to our satisfaction.

This was our seventh annual family ski trip to Steamboat Springs during this weekend, and we will be renting through this Management company again.

Good value, but fell short in several aspects

  • 3 of 5

The location is great if you're skiing or snowboarding: ski-in access was awesome, pretty easy to get out to the slopes as well, just a short walk in your boots and you can ski down to the Christie base/main gondola area. My family came here to celebrate Christmas, and there were a few things that detracted from our experience. The first thing we noticed when we arrived were a few flies buzzing around. We swatted those and thought nothing more of it, it was late so we went to bed. However, upon turning down the sheets in an upstairs bedroom, we found another unidentifiable insect (dead) under the sheets. I inspected the mattress for more signs of insects, and discovered large holes/rips in the sheets and a number of dead flies under the bed, but nothing harmful. Throughout our stay I found and killed about 10-12 more flies. Secondly, although we had imagined a nice faux Christmas morning, opening the presents around the fire, we were dismayed to find that the fireplace did not work. Lastly, this place has a great, large hot tub with views of the slopes which we enjoyed after our first day of skiing. The next evening, we ran down there in our bathing suits to find a padlock on the gate and no note explaining as to why (the hot tub was on and running). Confused and freezing we ran back up to the condo.

Important to note that we did not raise any of these issues with Brad as they seemed minor at the time but precipitated over the course of the stay, detracting from the overall experience. We did reach out to Brad about a few things and he was responsive and courteous.

Fantastic location in Steamboat. Perfect for small family

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here over the 4th of July weekend. It was perfect for what we needed. Myself, wife and two small kids stayed here. A friend joined us with her daughter also - and we were comfortable.

Kitchen had everything we needed.

Could easily walk to the bottom of the gondola to enjoy the resort facilities, creek (kids loved that) and food/drink.

Shops were just 3 min drive away and had a proper supermarket and liquor store.

Easy 6-8 min drive to downtown Steamboat which was good as Steamboat was hectic over the long weekend, but staying at the resort town was nice and peaceful, whilst still buzzing with activity.

Place was clean. Showers were great. Linen was perfect.

Only thing missing was air conditioning - there is heating so this wouldn't be a problem in winter. But at the price, it was perfect so I'm not deducting a star for a lack of A/C.
