Boating and fishing enthusiasts flock to this area every summer. Bring your own boat and launch it at the public boat ramp or rent a boat at the marina. Both are a 10 minute drive from the cottage. Or take advantage of one of the many fishing charters available in the harbor.
We are minutes from Robert G. Wehle State park where you can enjoy miles of hiking trails, tennis courts and beach volleyball. Take a picnic lunch and walk along the beautiful cliff trail to the slate shoals where you will find picnic tables and restrooms.
You will find sandy beaches a short drive to the north or south. Picnic tables and grills dot the beach at Westcott State Park. The nature conservancy to the south boasts a variety of wildlife for you to enjoy as you walk through the woods to a secluded stretch of sandy beach, another local favorite!
Stroll through the charming town of Sackets Harbor, visit the historic sites and battlefield, and dine at one of the many waterfront restaurants.
For the more adventurous, the Black River in Watertown boasts some of the best whitewater rafting in the country.

About Janet Outlaw and Jeanne Robison
We are the daughters of Bob and Joan McMullen from Rochester NY, who fell in love with this area over 40 years ago. They bought this property and we all worked together to build this cottage and make it a very special summer place. Since then, we have both raised our families (six kids total) who embrace the water and their time in the woods! Jeanne now resides in Boston and Janet in Florida...and our time here is limited. So... until we retire and can spend our entire summers here, we want to share our little bit of paradise with you!

Nice weekend away
The homeowners were very conscientious and quick to respond to any questions that arose. The cottage was very comfortable with a beautiful deck and cozy fire pit area. All amenities were available, such as a gas grill and laundry supplies. We did have some trouble figuring out the light switches, though! The water was beautiful. The kayaks available were great fun. Water shoes are definitely needed; the large rocks were incredibly slippery during our stay in October and made it very difficult to enter the water to swim. The house is on one floor and easy to access from the driveway, the deck easy to access as well. Those with mobility issues will have difficulty getting down to the fire pit and especially down the hill and stairs to the water. A special shout out goes to Linda, the cleaning woman/local contact. She was so accommodating, even offering for us to extend our stay for a few hours due to the torrential rain!

Stayed here the week of 09/30/17 - 10/06/17. Great floor plan,,well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, very clean. Lots of history around here, such as the war of 1812 Battleground at Sackets Harbor. Easy access to Canada through the Thousand Islands area. Make sure you go up in the tower there, you can see for miles, literally. Vineyards galore! and the VIEW!!!!! Sit out on the deck any time of the day, but especially at sunset. Magnificent! and plenty of stuff for the kids to do also, they will like this!
Owners were great to deal with and house was exactly as advertised. thank you for a great stay!
I spent at week at the McMullen's lovely cottage with my sister and her family. We comfortably fit four adults and four children. The McMullen sisters were incredibly helpful in the booking, scheduling, etc. They offer the use of their two kayaks, which we all happily used. The view of the lake from the deck was beautiful! My family has had a cottage in Henderson since my mother was a child. This place is very special to us. This cottage had everything we could have asked for.
Cute cottage with fantastic view!
We loved our week at this cottage, totally relaxing, clean and well cared for. A plus is the beautiful state park next door. Lovely hiking along the cliffs. Perfect getaway, quiet and out of the way. We will return!!
We spent two fantastic weeks in July at this lovely cottage in the woods. We could not have been happier with our accommodations. The cottage has a spacious, comfy living area and fully equipped kitchen looking out over the lake. We grilled and dined on the deck nightly and played darts while we cooked. The kids (6 & 10) really enjoyed our evenings making s'mores around the fire pit. They spent countless hours playing in the lake in front of the cottage and we enjoyed kayaking at sunset when the lake was typically calm. The beds are very comfortable and while we rarely used the air conditioning in the bedrooms, it was nice to have the option. The owners, Jeannie and Janet, are very accommodating and provide fun family games and books as well as a good sized TV with satellite. They also leave a notebook with ideas for family adventures, several of which we took advantage. The kids especially enjoyed the boat trip to Boldt Castle, the Renaissance Fair and playing on the shoals at Wehle's State Park. My parents joined us for a several nights and really appreciated the easy access from the driveway and the beautiful view from the deck. Thanks for sharing your family summer home with us. We will definitely be returning!!!
