Cabin, Property, Owners - Class
The Long X Trail cabin is naturally and comfortably appointed. Lots of attention to details, clean and well kept throughout. Felt like a home away from home. Property is beautiful, again, well kept yet natural, and Dry Creek is like having a little secluded piece of water feature paradise. Other cabins on the property are well spaced so you don't really notice them keeping with the feeling of seclusion. Owners are class people and deliver a great experience.
I was glad we got a chance to meet and visit for a few minutes. It was a pleasure having you stay with us! We look forward to having you visit again. A+++ guest!
Very well appointed, cute cabin in the woods—perfect for a couple.
My wife and I spent four days here in late March, 2018. It is a really nice, quiet, well furnished cabin—perfect for a couple wanting to get away. The king size bed is extremely comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed with pots and pans, nice refrigerator, and full size electric range/oven and refrigerator. All extremely clean. The bathroom is very well done—a huge jetted tub, new sink, lots of hot water (although—as is typical, not enough to fill the tub). There is a nice working fireplace—but gas, not wood burning.
It is located right on the edge of the Mark Twain National Forrest—lots of nearby hiking...which we enjoyed even though it rained most of our trip.
Note: there is no shower, and the kitchen DOES NOT include any spices, cooking oil, etc—just salt and pepper, so bring your own, or stop in Steelville in the way in and stick up on the basics.
Finally, as advertised, there is no WiFi, and it is isolated enough that we also had zero cell coverage. Nor was there any of either anywhere in Cherryville—so you are going to drive AT LEAST 1/2 hour to get connected. This was not an issue for us, but be sure you know what you are getting into.
Thanks for choosing us for your Missouri getaway! We are glad you had a great time. Just a bit on the WiFi...the cabins do not have WiFi at them, but our Lodge rental does and it is made accessible for all the guests to use. If you park in front of the garage you can check messages or make calls using our AT&T booster, if you have that provider, or use WiFi calling. Verizon does not have great service out here or anywhere in the Steelville area. If your phone has a WiFi calling option, it will work at the area around the Lodge. We also try to keep a landline phone available on the Lodge porch for our guests to use in case of an emergency or to call us. I apologize, Alan, that you were unaware of that. It would have been in the info that you received before arrival. I know it can be a pain to not be able to check in, when needed. We hope you come see us again if ever down in this area. Thanks for being excellent guests!
We really enjoyed our stay. It was nice and quiet and the property was well kept
Thank you for treating our property as if it was your own. We are so thankful for great guests like you. Hope to see you again!
Great time, location, everything was perfect. The cabin was clean and Alison was great to work with!
This is a beautiful property.
The luxury cabin in the woods is perfect for a getaway. It's so secluded and peaceful. My fiance and I loved it. I wish we had the time to spend another night there and explore the creek area. It's not too far from Steelville, a quiet little town with everything one would need for a few days.
We enjoyed having you stay with us! Wonderful guests. Would be happy to have you stay again.
This is the second time in two months that we have stayed at Fair Winds property. The first stay was in the Hunters Run cabin and this stay was in Long X Trail. Identical experience for both stays, we went with the King size bed the second time and are going to book it again in October. It is almost scary disconnecting from social media, phones and computers now a days, but it was the best thing we have done in a very long time. We could still connect if we needed to, but it was our choice. Our stay both times were perfect. The cabins were clean well kept and supplied with everything we needed. Allison and Jason were always helpful and went out of their way for us more than once. Just genuinely great folks. My wife is a doctor and I work for the intelligence agency, the stress in our everyday life can be overwhelming. This place made us feel like we had our own little slice of the world where no one could interrupt or stress us out. We literately sat in our chairs in the creek for hours at a time, just listening to the water, some great music and nature. It was AWESOME. We liked it so much that we are looking at similar property in the area. Thanks again Allison and Jason for sharing this wonderful place and we are looking forward to visiting again soon.
Always a pleasure to have you stay with us. We so appreciate the great reviews. We look forward to seeing you again.
