Very enjoyable stay in a lovely area near a variety of MO state parks
Very much enjoyed our stay in Alison's cabin. Cabin was very clean and well appointed. Alison was quickly responsive to any of our questions that arose. Would highly recommend a stay for folks traveling in this area who want to "get away from it all".
It was a pleasure having you stay with us. Thanks for being excellent guests!
30th Anniversary getaway
Very clean and private. A really nice place to stay.
It was a pleasure having you stay with us! We would love to have you stay again sometime. You were excellent guests!
Nice secluded spot to relax
Lots of nature and state parks to explore nearby. Cabin has everything one would need plus a little more.
Thanks for being excellent guests! We look forward to having you visit us again.
Beautiful, private secluded getaway!
This cabin is the perfect getaway for couples! very secluded, private, romantic etc. The cabin is very clean and the property is well taken care of. You can tell the owners go above and beyond to keep their property well taken care of. We will def try to come back for another visit when we get a chance for another extended weekend kid free. Please keep up with the no wifi! loved being out of touch and just alone for the weekend. Def stay at the cabin if you're looking for a private romantic getaway!
An amazing getaway!!
This cabin is perfect in every way: Charming, secluded, well-designed, romantic, spotlessly clean, well-managed. I would go on but I'm running out of adjectives! My girlfriend and I needed a romantic getaway for a few days and this cabin was exactly what we were looking for. It can be tough to design a cabin that feels authentically "rustic" but is also modern (in the sense of having updated bathroom and kitchen features). This cabin strikes that balance perfectly. Alison (the host) was awesome and easy to work with. We HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this cabin.
P.S. The (very) small town of Steelville is about a 15 minute drive away, which is just right--close enough in case you need to make a run for groceries but far enough away so you feel like you're out in the country. Among its pleasures is a perfectly preserved 1950's-style ice cream parlor, a fudge shop, and a great place for burgers. And of course tons of places for float trips.
It was a pleasure having you stay with us! You were excellent guests. We look forward to seeing you again.
Very well appointed, cute cabin in the woods—perfect for a couple.
My wife and I spent four days here in late March, 2018. It is a really nice, quiet, well furnished cabin—perfect for a couple wanting to get away. The king size bed is extremely comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed with pots and pans, nice refrigerator, and full size electric range/oven and refrigerator. All extremely clean. The bathroom is very well done—a huge jetted tub, new sink, lots of hot water (although—as is typical, not enough to fill the tub). There is a nice working fireplace—but gas, not wood burning.
It is located right on the edge of the Mark Twain National Forrest—lots of nearby hiking...which we enjoyed even though it rained most of our trip.
Note: there is no shower, and the kitchen DOES NOT include any spices, cooking oil, etc—just salt and pepper, so bring your own, or stop in Steelville in the way in and stick up on the basics.
Finally, as advertised, there is no WiFi, and it is isolated enough that we also had zero cell coverage. Nor was there any of either anywhere in Cherryville—so you are going to drive AT LEAST 1/2 hour to get connected. This was not an issue for us, but be sure you know what you are getting into.
Thanks for choosing us for your Missouri getaway! We are glad you had a great time. Just a bit on the WiFi...the cabins do not have WiFi at them, but our Lodge rental does and it is made accessible for all the guests to use. If you park in front of the garage you can check messages or make calls using our AT&T booster, if you have that provider, or use WiFi calling. Verizon does not have great service out here or anywhere in the Steelville area. If your phone has a WiFi calling option, it will work at the area around the Lodge. We also try to keep a landline phone available on the Lodge porch for our guests to use in case of an emergency or to call us. I apologize, Alan, that you were unaware of that. It would have been in the info that you received before arrival. I know it can be a pain to not be able to check in, when needed. We hope you come see us again if ever down in this area. Thanks for being excellent guests!
