About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bath , Sleeps 4

Riversong is our newest and most luxurious cabin and is ADA accessible. It has a full kitchen including a dishwasher and ice maker, a separate bedroom with an extremely comfortable queen bed, a beautiful granite tile propane fireplace, and a cozy living room overlooking the river.

A queen Murphy bed with the same comfortable queen mattress as the bed in the bedroom is cleverly disguised as a bookcase. The beautiful window and door casings and trim were all handcrafted by the owner.

Outside, the covered deck overlooks a huge lawn sloping down to the river. Included on the deck are a gas BBQ and large Jacuzzi hot tub. There is a fire pit just for the use of this cabin just below the deck.

About Brenda Connely

We are Ted and Brenda Connely. Brenda grew up in Forks. Ted moved from Nebraska to Port Angeles is 1976. We were living in Port Angeles when we found this property. A friend mentioned it might be available. It had an old house sadly in need of love. A garage looking like it would go over in the next strong wind sat where Riversong sits today. We spent several years fixing up the old house, which is now our Cedarbreeze cabin. We burned down the old garage before it fell down and had a garden in its place one year. One spring morning the next year, Brenda told Ted she had arranged for a man to come with a tractor and rototill the garden space that day. When she got home a foundation had been dug instead. That tractor had a backhoe on it. Ted said I need a shop. Brenda said we don't even live here full time. He said, well, we might. And he was right. A couple of years later Brenda came home from work in Port Angeles packing Sam the cat and said to Ted, 'We live here now, we're always here anyway.' So the house in Port Angeles was sold and we all lived happily in the old house on the river, and Ted enjoyed his shop, but after several long wet winters we decided to buy a larger home closer to Forks. Still on the river but not as special. We couldn't bring ourselves to sell the Riverside place, so we started renting the old house and the guest room we had built above the garage as vacation rentals. We had so many bookings we decided to turn Ted's former shop into another cabin. And that is how Riversong came to be.

Brenda Connely purchased this cottage in 1995

Why Brenda Connely chose Olympic Peninsula & Pacific Coast

Even though the property was all grown up with weeds and brush and the old house was very run down, we knew at first sight this was our place. The sparkling river running along the edge of the yard, the golden light coming through the trees, just the peaceful feel of the place. Many guests have used the word 'magical' to describe their feeling about the place.

What makes this cottage unique

We originally bought this property for our own vacation home with no thought of its potential as a vacation rental property. But not only is it a beautiful, relaxing, welcoming spot to stay, it is very handily located within an hour's drive of nearly all the attractions of the northwest section of Olympic National Park. Many guest comment on what a great base camp it is for seeing the park. We have often heard how nice it is to come home to after a day of hiking and exploring to sit by the river, BBQ on the deck, soak in the hot tub, build a fire in the firepit, and sleep in the very comfortable beds.

Wonderful!!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin exceeded our expectations. Clean and well equipped. The deck and lawn was wonderful for the dog and games. Loved the fireplace, hot tub and the fire pit. The wood was easy to restock. You do have more privacy than you might expect with two cabins next door. Best HomeAway experience to date!!

The River view is incredible and the deck and grounds allow for a peaceful rest, and the cabin has everything you need for cooking meals. Access to beautiful hikes is only short drives away,

Relaxing family get away

  • 5 of 5

Riverside cabin was perfect. The cabin is nestled in the woods along the river and the grounds are pristine. The cabin is beautiful, beds are comfy, and has all the modern conveniences to make your stay great. We had sunny weather our entire stay so we spent most of our time playing baseball on the lawn, throwing rocks in the river, hot tubbing, and making s'mores. The teens did enjoy watching the Twilight movies that were provided.

The location is very good as a home base for sightseeing in Olympic National Park. Everything in the park is very spread out so you will do significant driving to get around (but that is true for any location you stay). However, the drives are beautiful and part of the experience. The only downside to the location is the car noise from the 101. We were visiting during a busy holiday weekend so there were more travelers on the 101. My parents were here in the fall and said they didn't notice. Anyways, it didn't bother anyone in our group and the river drowns most of it out.

I will definitely be back! There is so much to experience in ONP! I would like to come back and stay 1week to build in some chill at the cabin days. Here is what we did while we visited:

-Swimming in Lake Crescent and hiking Mt. Storm King & Marymere Falls. A short 20 minute drive away.

-Hoh rainforest: we saw 2 adult bears & 3 cubs! We were there over a holiday weekend & arrived late (2pm) and it took us a while to get in.

-Rialto Beach at low tide. We hiked on the beach to Hole-in-the-Wall and saw whales, giant sea stars, anemones, and bald eagles!

-Neah Bay: we visited the Makah Reservation museum and hiked the Cape Flattery trail to the most NW corner of the continental US.

-Hurricane Ridge: on our way back toward Port Angeles. The kids highlight was playing in snow in July! They also loved seeing tons of deer.

ONP and A River Runs Through It made for a perfect and memorable vacation! Thank You

Perfect Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This property was amazing and perfect. We stayed two nights in Seattle before traveling on to the cabin. The minute we walked into the cabin I knew we should have skipped Seattle altogether. It was located perfectly for touring different parts of Olympic National Park. It was secluded and private. I was worried it would not be private since its part of a group of cabins, but the owners have privacy screens on all the patios, and we never even saw another person during our 6 night stay. It was quaint, cozy, and comfortable. It was well stocked and convenient with washer/dryer and separate sleeping areas. The hot tub was phenomenal, especially after hiking and exploring. It was absolutely perfect. I'll definitely be taking part of the cabin home with me in the memories we made there.

Paradise on the peninsula

  • 5 of 5

Wow, we had really high hopes for our stay here, because of the descriptions and pictures of the cabin. The actual experience was way better than we had expected!!! Total luxury, privacy and tranquility, spectacular amenities. The view out onto the yard and river (about 10 yards from the deck!) were hypnotizingly beautiful. Perfect location for day trips to the Hoh rain forest and Neah Bay. This would be a great place to come for 2 weeks to write that novel...

This property is a great base camp for exploring the north Peninsula area of Olympic National Park.

It is located just off Highway 101 ten miles southwest of Lake Crescent providing quick and easy access to Lake Crescent Lodge, Storm King Ranger Station, Marymere Falls, Eagle Peak Ranger Station and Sol Duc Falls with hiking trails continuing into the Olympics.

Heading east from the cabins, it's less than an hour's drive to the main Park visitor center in Port Angeles, Hurricane Ridge, and the ferry to Victoria, British Columbia.

West from the cabins 8 miles is the junction of Hwy 113 which will take you to the Lake Ozette Ranger Station and the loop trail to the ocean at Ozette, the Makah Museum and Cape Flattery on the Makah Reservation. Shi Shi Beach on the Makah reservation is one of the most beautiful and remote beaches on the west coast.

Continuing from the cabins on 101 past the 113 junction for 9 miles will take you to Highway 110, (La Push road) providing access to 1st beach at La Push, the trailheads for Beach 2 and 3 and Rialto Beach across the Quillayute River.

Just past the 110 junction you will enter the town of Forks which provides shopping, restaurants, and Twilight attractions. Continuing south from Forks for 12 miles will take you to the access road for Hoh Rain Forest visitor center with miles of hiking rails. Another 25 miles south on 101 you will find Kalaloch Lodge perched on the bluff above miles of beautiful sandy beaches. There are many access points to this stretch of beach.

Many guests have told us how nice it is to come back to our cabins after a day of hiking and exploring to sit by the river, BBQ on the decks or soak in the hot tubs.
