Bon Bini! We are Larry & Mary (LaMar). We have been coming to BONAIRE for over 20 years. 7 years ago we were so lucky to have found our dream in Crown Ridge 8. We have traveled the world from South East Asia, Micronesia to Australia....but nothing ever came close to the perfection of BONAIRE.
We are so happy to be able to share our dream with you!
Enjoy Kas LaMar and this amazing beauty that is Bonaire!
Welcome to our home!!!!
Larry Weber purchased this villa in 2008
Our family of 4 scuba divers spent Thanksgiving week enjoying this wonderful home. This was our 4th trip to Bonaire but our first journey outside of a dive "resort". I was hesitant to rent a house at first because I didn't know how to coordinate all of the scuba diving logistics (gear rental, air/nitrox tanks, boat dives) that we would need. After communicating with Larry, he put my fears aside and we booked the house. What a welcome departure from the large groups of guests at the dive resorts. The 3 bedrooms are spacious, clean and air conditioned. The kitchen (whole house) is beautiful and well stocked. We had every thing we needed to dive, relax and enjoy Bonaire. The few issues/questions that we had we're promptly addressed by the property manager Marie or by Larry. My favorite parts were sipping coffee on the lounge chair in the morning watching the dive boats go out and sipping wine in the same chair in the evening watching the sunset.
The only downside I can see is that apparently a lot of people have discovered this great place as well so the calendar is filling up. Don't hesitate, book now!!
We just returned from a week at this lovely Crown Ridge villa. I'll start by saying we would absolutely stay here on next visit to Bonaire. There are some issues with the villa, but the positives heavily outweigh the negatives.
The location of the house is great. It is oceanfront between two great dive sites. The outdoor area is very private and has ample seating/lounging/dining areas. Sit back and watch a glorious sunset from your private, walled pool and garden area. It is a well maintained community and the house has a gated yard, gated rinse tank/storage area and an alarm system. The inside of the house is well appointed with everything you need for a relaxing vacation. Everything you need to prepare gourmet meals and drinks is provided. The furniture is comfortable and you even have some US cable channels. We lacked for nothing. Both the owner and the local property contact are friendly and easy to work with.
Most of the issues with the property are easily remedied. The one potential issue is the layout of the bedrooms. From inside the house, you must go through the third bedroom to get to the master bedroom. If you are a family and kids will be using the third bedroom, there isn't really an issue. For three couples, it may be awkward. There are some standard wear and tear issues that come with any oceanfront property. The pool steps have a bit more than standard wear and need resurfaced at some point. The between rental cleaning could be a bit more detailed. For example, the owners supply a larger cooler for guest use, which is so nice as those cold drinks in the truck are a treat. However it was sitting outside under the pool floats (also a nice addition) and when we moved the floats there were empty beer bottles on the ground and the cooler had standing buggy water in it. It would be nice if it were rinsed out between guest. The "mid week cleaning" is just a swap for clean linens and towels. There is a large trash can outside of the property (in a nicely maintained gated area), so you can easily take out the trash, but I did expect the trash from the bathrooms and kitchen to be taken out.
I wanted to be very honest about the negatives because if you know what to expect then there are no disappointments. As I said at the beginning, the positives absolutely outweigh the negatives. There is no reason not to book this beautiful, private property. You really will enjoy your time at Kas LaMar!!
The property was amazing, better than the pictures! The view from the patio is breathtaking. The house was very clean and very well equipped.
Just a short drive to all the restaurants but in a quiet safe area. We had a great stay and would consider this home without hesitation on our next trip to the island. We were greeted promptly at the airport and taken to the house where we were showed how to operate everything we would need.
Bonaire is a tranquil beautiful island geared toward diving and snorkeling and this home compliments that perfectly. Everything was executed as promised including our deposit!
Thank you to Larry and his team for our great vacation, see you soon...
We had an interesting group...my husband and I (divers in our 30's) with our 5 months old, my parents (Mom can't swim) and uncle (biker dude) who are in their 60's and non divers but my father ended up getting certified while in Bonaire! So needless to say, a wide variety of ages, interests, and personalities and we ALL had a fantastic time doing as much or as little as we wanted. This house suited all of our needs and then some.
Pros: GREAT communication with owner and property manager, greeted at airport by Marie who was fantastic all week long, pristine view of the ocean, ocean views from the pool, pool floats, AC in all bedrooms, plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas if the sun gets too toasty, garage with automatic door, easy separate entry to the rinse tanks so you don't have to track through the house soaking wet from diving, private entry and steps down to the beach, variety of spices, oils, condiments already in the fridge and cabinets, more than enough dishes, cookware, cooking tools, paper plates, tin foil, etc, great water pressure, away from the hustle bustle of downtown but still close enough if we wanted to go get some gelato. My uncle is really big into cooking so he's very judgmental when it comes to kitchens and he was blown away by the fully equipped kitchen and wanted for nothing. Took us a little bit to figure out the oven and stove but once we found the manual that was in English, we were set. LOL! The grill.....OMG the grill!! It's amazing and heats up super fast. We used it a couple nights for steaks, fish, burgers and brats. We only went out to eat once. It was so incredibly lovely to float in the pool and watch the sun set after a long day of diving and have a bottle of wine....oops I mean glass! :)
Cons: NOTHING! There are some bugs that come out at night, but hey, you're in the Caribbean! We brought some Off and sprayed a little on in the evening and were set.
Not necessarily a con but an odd feature: the master bedroom and room with two twin beds share a bathroom. It wasn't a problem at all but maybe worth noting. The master bedroom has a private entry off of the deck by the pool which was nice if we wanted to sneak out to sit and listen to the waves without disturbing the rest of the house.
WE LOVED OUR TIME HERE!!!
This villa is a great place for nature lovers: we saw green parrots (18 at one time to be precise) , large iguanas, banana quits, hummingbirds, lizards and hermit crabs without even leaving the villa. Having travelled to many Caribbean islands and having being disappointed with snorkelling, here we were amazed. Snorkelling site Andrea 1 just in front of the villa was just as good as snorkelling in the Maldives (which we consider the best ever). Many varieties of fishes are close by and you don`t need to swim out to sea to see them! Several great places to eat near by, within 5 min drive maximum. Water taxi that takes you to the uninhabited island of Klein Bonaire is also approx. 5 min drive away.
Ideal place for a relaxing holiday for any nature lover.
We very much enjoyed our stay at this property, very clean and well kept. Larry and Maria were awesome to work with. The kitchen was very well stocked every thing we needed was there.
We had a beautiful view right of the patio. There was plenty of lounges and chairs by the pool patio area for our party of six. We would rent this property again.
