Magical

  • 5 of 5

You just have to experience it to understand it. Shelby and Karen did a great job of accommodating our family of 6. When we arrived Shelby gave us a tour, and took the time to show us some baby owls that the kids loved. It was raining almost all day, but the kids found time to play in the turrets, and they also enjoyed the man cave. I enjoyed escaping outside at night to listen to the rain fall from the tree leaves. We were only able to stay for one night, but when we left my son Dylan was ecstatic when he found out Shelby sent a piece of meteorite home with us. He's a huge rock collector and it made his week! Shelby and Karen:. You are such gracious hosts and we will definitely be back next year for longer!

Owner's Response: We are so happy you all enjoyed your stay! Your opening statement is perfect! It is almost impossible to put into words what it is like to stay at the castle. You just have to experience it. Even with the rain, we're so happy you took advantage and enjoyed the peace and tranquility the castle offers. It was a rare treat to see those baby owls! You never know what you might see when you stay with us! We hope you will come back again and stay longer! There is so much more to enjoy not only at the castle but in the surrounding Ozarks. Between shows and dining in Branson, there are multiple golf courses in the immediate area. Silver Dollar City is just a few minutes away or take in the breathtaking Buffalo National Park! Thank you for staying with us! We look forward to seeing you again in the future! Warmest regards, Shelby and Karen

Like visiting a loved aunt and uncle

  • 5 of 5

So, I am a person that loves the bad news first so here goes;

That being said the location is down a long gravel road with large gravel in areas so, if you are not accustomed to driving down backroads you may be surprised. Thay is the only bad thing i have to say.

Now for the good news;

From the moment we arrived it was like we entered a new world. The fact that Shelby built this amazing structure in honor of his daughter is beautiful and you can really tell the pride and immense thought thay goes into each part of the property. We went the end of july and first part of august so the weather was beautiful. Had i known there was SO MUCH to do i wouldnt have bought so many Branson show tickets in advance! My 4 kids CRIED everytime we left because they would have rather spent more time at the castle!! I could have saved HUNDREDS had i known! We played badminton and volleyball behind the mancave, we played darts, pool, and checkers as we listened to one of my favorite CCR cds (Shelby had Karen burn me a copy of it and 2 other great CDs before we left too!!), we swam in the pool as my husband BBQ'd our dinner. As if that wasnt amazing enough, our first day as we left we saw a mother deer as we left the property and as my husband BBQ'd there was a black bear cub about 200 feet away!! Nature was everywhere and it was beyond beautiful, safe, and AMAZING!! The castle itself was very homey, the kitchen was easy to use and the bed was super comfy! When we arrived Shelby and Karen had an airmatress ready for our kids, as they knew that our 4 children would be with us during our stay, even though they fought to be able to sleep in the windows!! During our whole stay it was as if we were visiting a very loved family member and felt so welcome and comfortable. At night my husband and I sat outside and listened to nature as we gazed and the sky full of stars with our children close, but they felt miles away at the same time.

To say this was like a home away from home spunds cliche but it is true, we felt so at home here. My husband even talked about building one of our own as our home one day!! When we left shelby loaded us up with some yummy veggies from his garden, recipes, and gave us all amazing memories.

I cannot wait to come back to stay. My kids are already talking about spending our next vacation there!! Thank you Shelby and Karen for such an amazing stay, next time we will not make so many show plans and will spend more time at the castle!

Beautiful property, wonderful hosts, but severe reaction to mold

  • 1 of 5

The property is gorgeous and the hosts do an amazing job of welcoming their guests! The stone walls, etc are charming. We were unable to spend more than a few hours there, though, due to severe reactions to mold. We booked another reservation. We are still waiting for our full refund.

Owner's Response: We are so happy your enjoyed your brief stay at the castle and that you felt so welcome. We strive to make our guests welcome! We have never had a guest mention anything that has caused them any kind of distress. We hate that you did not get to experience the peace and tranquility our guests normally enjoy! With our location being so close to so many Ozark attractions, guests have appreciated coming back to the wonderment of wildlife and the serenity and comfort of the cottage. The only complaint we have heard from our guests is that they have to leave! Had we been aware of your severe chronic susceptibility to allergens and your extreme reactions to any molds, we would have recommend a stay in the countryside might not be for you. A refund request was sent to VRBO on July 10, 2017. If you have not received it or have any other questions, please feel free to contact us!

Our holiday stay at the castle

  • 4 of 5

Spent the 4th of July holiday at the secluded castle in the Ozark hills. Enjoyed the peace and quite and the unique experience. Close to everything in Branson yet away from the hustle and bustle.

Owner's Response: We are so glad you enjoyed your stay, even if the weather wasn't 100% cooperative for the 4th of July! One of the benefits of being in the country, you can shoot off all the fireworks you want as long as there is not a burn ban in place! And we have great grounds to do just that! We hope you will come back and visit again!!

If you want to place to relax and get away from things this is the place.

  • 5 of 5

I love Lacey Michele's Castle! It is such a great getaway. My only regret is that I did not spend more time there. What a good reason to go back! Shelby and Karen are there if you need anything. Helpful for ideas and directions to get places. The peacefulness that soaks into you here is like no other place. Close enough to Branson Mo. easy to get to either side. We drove to Eureka Springs for an enjoyable day. The guesthouse is very clean. The towels were folded into fans. You can tell they like doing the extra touches. The pool was great! Love love LOVED IT! Thank you Shelby and Karen for making this a vacation I will never forget. I hope to see you both again soon.

The castle was beautiful and was Located between Buffalo River and Branson. The hospitality Shelby and Karen showed was amazing and Shelby did not hesitate to help us out with a flat tire when we asked for a tire Jack. Thank you Shelby! We will definately be staying here again in the future.

Owner's Response: Thank you guys for staying with us! We are so happy you enjoyed your stay. Flat tires suck anytime, but especially on your vacation. We were happy to be able to assist you. We have such a unique little piece of heaven that we love to share with guests. Having peace and quiet to come back to after a day of floating on the river at the Buffalo River National Park or visiting Eureka Springs is just the icing on the cake! We will look forward to seeing you again!
