About Marsha Mills

I am a National Artist who has had the fun of doing work for the Smithsonian, Brooks and Dunn, AKC, National Cutting Horses and Clients throughout the world and winning national awards. My Media is Dry Brush Watercolor and I have been a College Professor and still teach private lessons. My son is my Apprentice who also is a Muralist and a Tattoo Artist. I now live in Beaufort on the water. You will find prints of my works throughout the house and murals by my son Ryan.

Marsha Mills purchased this house in 1995

Why Marsha Mills chose Central Coast

How could an Artist not fall in love with such a beautiful place. The beach changes every day and the Sunsets are amazing it is so inspiring and so calming. Not only the sunsets but the morning walks on the beach watching the sun come up over the water takes your breath away. Bogue Island which Emerald Isle is located on the west end, has beaches that face South so the sun rises from the Ocean and sets in the Ocean....WOW.... Enjoy it all day long but watch the sun burn.

My family loved living here and still loves coming back for a visit.

What makes this house unique

My home is unique. Only one room has a flat ceiling. So each room is a white canvas for art. In the next 5 years you will see more murals being added to the house to go with its name, 'Second Star to the Right '. Yes, that is Peter Pan but the paintings will be not just for kids but also adults. So not only will you have a wonderful beach experience but a unique living experience seeing how artists expel on their ideas. Come and watch the house morf into an experience itself.

Great place for a family reunion

  • 4 of 5

We rented both the upper and lower units for a family reunion over the 4th of July. It worked great, with plenty of room for everyone. Just a short walk to the beach. Everything there that we needed. Used the grill every day. My brother loved the lower unit and is thinking about renting it again soon.

Perfect for our family!

  • 5 of 5

This was a lovely place to spend a long memorial day weekend! Plenty of room for 6 adults (3 couples) and 2 young children. We loved the deck and the grill was fantastic. Lot's of seating for meals, both inside and on the porch. We enjoyed being in the trees with the nice amounts of shade. The ~10min walk to the beach was easy, especially with the provided wagon to carry our beach chairs and umbrellas. Location to the grocery store and other shops was very nice as we were able to take a quick bike ride for nearly everything we needed instead of driving. It was great to be able to securely store our bikes under the porch. Great house!

Beautiful beach house for the whole family!

  • 5 of 5

The property was perfect for our 2 year olds first big trip to the beach. There was plenty of space for my parents, their dogs, my brother and girlfriend, and our family. We enjoyed the large screened in porch, equipped with adult and toddler swings. It was a quick walk to the beach and close to all the shopping and restaurants in town. The house was comfortable and spacious and had everything we needed for our stay. We loved the newly renovated interior and enjoyed our time relaxing at the house as much as we did on the beach. Marsha was quick to respond if we had any questions and made our first VRBO experience easy. Would highly recommend! We can't wait for our next trip.

A 60th birthday to remember!

  • 4 of 5

We rented this property for my mom's 60th birthday and had the absolute best time at Emerald Isle. The layout of this home was PERFECT for entertaining as our family visited a lot throughout the stay. There were plenty of chairs and seating to accommodate everyone, not to mention the screened in porch and back deck. We loved how open the main floor was as we were able to enjoy everyone's company all at once. The fans were a must in the upstairs bedrooms but the memory foam mattress pad made for some solid sleep! There was truly plenty of space in this home. All of the closets were nice sized, and how could I forget the pantry/laundry room off the kitchen. This little room provided so much extra storage for our food, drinks, coolers, etc. so that we didn't have to clutter up the beautiful kitchen counter tops. Marsha has plenty of board games & books that the kids loved, and she even created books to help those unfamiliar with the area know the best places to go. The home is beautifully decorated and we were thoroughly pleased with our stay! Marsha was great to work with and very helpful.

The lack of lighting on the screened in porch made it difficult for eating outdoors once the sun set, and the back door was tricky to shut at times. Overall, I highly recommend this property if you are OK with a 5 minute walk to the beach.
