Overview

About the property

Cozy, Efficient 2 Bedroom 1-1/2 Bath Home Right On A Perfect Alaskan Lake

This 1400 sq ft 2-level home was recently renovated with all modern conveniences (satellite tv, dvd/blueray, high speed WIFI, washer & dryer, hair dryer, iron & board, kitchen appliances including dishwasher) and is perched on one of the most beautiful lake sites around. Quiet and serene, off the beaten path but just 7 easy miles south of Soldotna, we are mid-way between the Kenai and Kasilof rivers - both world class river fisheries, and a short scenic drive from Homer, Anchor River and other cook inlet salt water fishing charter ports.

The main floor has a queen bed in the master bedroom, a full bathroom, an open combo kitchen/dining/living area and deck, all with awesome lake view. Downstairs you'll find a bedroom with queen bed (with lake view), a half bathroom, and a large bedroom/rec room, with table, chairs and twin beds. The upper deck has chairs, tables and a gas barbeque grill. A short walk down the hill is the grassy lake shore, where you can hang out by the fire pit or paddle the free canoe to fish and explore Hope Lake or paddle through a short channel to a second lake. Wildlife is abundant on and around our lake, and we can help you plan your adventures farther afield, including river and marine fishing charters, hiking, wildlife viewing, glacier/wildlife cruises and much more. Got fish? There's a great fish processing service right up the street to help you get them smoked and/or quick-frozen for the trip home.

About Bill and Suzy Larned

Suzy (Montessori teacher) and Bill (recently retired Wildlife Biologist/Pilot) moved here in 1984 with 5 kids, and the intervening years have spun by gloriously, with no regrets leaving the east coast. We fell in love with the dramatic Alaskan Landscape, its incredible wildlife, and its warm, energetic and diverse population. We often look at each other and chuckle at how lucky we were to find our perfect niche here on Lake Hope.

Bill and Suzy Larned purchased this house in 2011

What makes this house unique

Beautiful cabin. Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

The entire family enjoyed our time here. The canoeing and fire pit were amazing. It was a central point to many places on the kenai that we explored. The owner was very helpful and available if needed. It was hard to get out of bed in the morning as the bed was so comfortable. Loved it

Awesome view.

A well presented and prepared rental property. Very clean and well equipped for our stay. Close to town with a rural setting and an awesome view. Our group liked this place best of all our stays in AK.

  • 4 of 5

This place was a very nice place to stay. We had plenty of room for ourselves and company. We enjoyed the grill and the canoe. The house was clean and well maintained. The owners were very polite and kind. No complaints

I would definitely consider staying there again.

Thank you Bill and Suzy for everything

Owner's Response: Thanks, Mike! We enjoyed meeting you and hope to see you again, and hope the silver salmon fishing will be better then. It's still a weak run - slow but steady. Have a great winter!

Cozy home with an amazing view!

  • 5 of 5

As soon as we walked in this home it did not disappoint. The first thing you see as you walk in, is the amazing view of the private lake. The open room format of the living room, dining room and kitchen is a perfect place for everyone to gather. The house was exactly how described and offered everything it promised. We had a great time using the canoe on the lake and even caught a few fish. The deck was the owefect spot to unwind after a day of traveling/site seeing. The house is also close enough to the maintenance to run last minute errands. We would highly recommend this house and hope to stay there again if we make it back!!

Feels like you are in the backwoods, yet only a few minutes from town.

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed the beautiful scenery and our daily swim in the lake. It is a great place to unwind after a long day of fishing. The owners are friendly and the raspberry freezer jam was a delight. We are planning on staying here again the next time in Soldotna.

Wonderful hideaway on a lovely little lake

  • 5 of 5

Thanks to Bill and Suzy for being very friendly, and providing a great stay at the Hope Lake Hideaway. We greatly enjoyed watching the lake from the house, canoeing and fishing, cooking on the gas grill, and letting the kids run around both the deck and down by the lake. It's a relatively quiet location, though you can sometimes hear cars/trucks on the roads around the lake, and lawnmowers from the neighbors. One evening there was a loon on the lake, and its enchanting call was very special to hear. It's a great location, the house has everything you need, and it worked great for the two toddlers we had along. Highly recommended.
