About Sarah Neichter

We live in Lewis Center, OH with our 2 little girls and our American Cocker spaniel, Liberty, whom the cabin is named after. We love that the cabin is just over an hour drive from us and can't wait for the girls to grow up vacationing in the Hocking Hills. We want you to feel at home at the cabin and would love for this to be your families go to getaway in the hills!

Sarah Neichter purchased this cabin in 2015

Why Sarah Neichter chose Ohio

We are both graduates of Ohio University(go Bobcats!) and came to love the Hocking Hills Region during our 4 years in Athens. We knew we wanted a real log cabin near the all of natures attractions in Hocking Hills. This cabin was perfect because it was large enough to accommodate our family and friends and has great outdoor space on the porches, patio and deck! This is not only a rental property for us, it's our second home, and we hope you'll enjoy it as much as we do!

What makes this cabin unique

Liberty Ridge is far enough away from all the hustle and bustle to truly be able to relax but close enough to our home in Columbus we can be there in an hour! One of the first weekends we spent at the cabin we were surprised to look up on a clear night and see one of the most amazing star filled skies we've ever seen.

Lots of Character & Charm

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the cabin 2 nights. It is a darling cabin. Very open and welcoming. The owner Sarah was great about communicating prior as well since we came up from Florida and asked for recommendations. The upper beds could be a bit softer they were really stiff, but the basement bed and main floor bed were great. The house does tell all since it is so open and mainly all wood everything echos so if you bring a lot of people and are looking for relaxing time you may want to sit out by the fire which is nicely set up out back. It was very easy to find, great location between main trails and food. I HIGHLY recommend having breakfast at Pearl's Diner ( It's nothing to look at but the food was amazing and great prices). We talked about coming back up next summer and we would rent this one again. They also have a stray cat that was really friendly.

Bachelorette Party Paradise

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriends decided to rent this property for my bachelorette party, and we couldn't have had more fun!

This cabin sits in the woods and is paradise for a weekend getaway. It is about 5 minutes away from Old Man's Cave and the trails, which we had planned to go to on the first full day of our stay. A few of the girls did not want to hike, but they thoroughly enjoyed themselves at the cabin by laying out and catching some sun on the patio and soaking in the hot tub.

This cabin had A LOT of amenities! There were about 7 of us who attended the weekend festivities, and every single person had a bed to sleep on. The hot tub was a DREAM! It had a bunch of fun colored lights that lit up at night, and it was big enough to hold nearly all of us as we relaxed and talked all night. The fire pit was an awesome addition, and we made sure to roast smore's over it! There were also PLENTY of chairs outside around the fire pit; we had brought extras, thinking there may not be enough, but we actually had chairs leftover and didn't even have to grab the extras we had brought.

The cabin was immaculate. Everything was extremely clean. The kitchen was FULL of plates, bowls, cups, pots & pans, baking dishes & bowls -- just about everything you have at your house you will find in this cabin. The only downside was that there was no dishwasher, but of course, having only stayed there for two nights, the dish situation was not a big deal.

Sarah was INCREDIBLE! Any time we had to send an email with questions, she responded within 15-30 minutes, which was wonderful. She was also soooooooo sweet; we walked into the cabin to find a welcome bag waiting for us--it was full of smore's stuff (graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate--plenty to go around!) as well as a magazine that listed the different things one could do around the Hocking Hills area.

Overall, we had an absolutely wonderful experiences. It has been a few days since we returned from the cabin, and my girls are still talking about what a good time it was. If we ever head back to the Hocking Hills area, I will definitely be contacting Sarah again. This cabin was incredible, the location was perfect, and the owners are as kind as can be. We had such a relaxing weekend away from the chaos of wedding planning. If you're looking for a place to call home for a few days, you should come here!

Property Needs Attention No Bang for the $$$

  • 2 of 5

Unfortunately with all vacation rentals the pictures may not give you the entire picture of what you are getting. We were looking for a central location to the Hocking Hills area and we did get that so I have no complaints about location. However, this property needs attention. The guest book is evidence of this, same issues were mentioned in the guest book all they way back to last year. Right away I noticed some problems and contacted the owner to notify her that issues existed. The main floor bedroom has an inoperable ceiling fan. The window was left unlocked. Laundry was left in the dryer. A few mini blinds were broken or in disrepair. The hot tub did not work properly and was "slimy" and probably hasn't seen a water change in a long time. Some of the fire pit chairs were melted from fire damage. I assumed there would be a gas grill and it was only charcoal. There is no food prep area when working on the charcoal grill (very cheap). The toilet handle broke while we were there. No water pressure in 2 bathrooms. The downstairs shower curtain doesn't go to the floor so water spills out all over. The fixtures are bargain basement crap you would get at Walmart. I think they got the oven for $50 somewhere. No dishwasher. The kitchen is from a salvage yard or homemade I think and the silverware drawer wasn't even attached to the track. On a high note the dishes are from IKEA. There is nothing high-end at this property. The stickers are still on some windows from when they were replaced. Looks like someone pried open a screen and window at some point. We couldn't find a single outdoor outlet to plug in a radio. The patio furniture is rusting along with the doors to the house. As mentioned by previous visitors in the book the water is salty (we went through 6 gallons of purified water from Walmart), the internet is sketch at best, no phone service, and the lawn wasn't mowed. It appears like a quick "flip" was done on this property...perhaps a quick deck redo and a quick basement redo. While I don't expect high-end when I rent a vacation property I at least hope for something that reminds me I'm on vacation! Now-a-days people like to have all the comforts of home when renting a vacation property. This cabin is rented at too high of a rate to have a bargain basement vacation. Next time I'll make my camping reservations well in advance when I come down because at least my camper has nice stuff.

Great, clean location. Easy to contact/get in touch with owners.

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at this cabin. There was more than enough space and it was all very clean and tidy. Exceptional. The owners responded to our questions before and during. We visited Conkles Hollow and Cantwell Cliffs and the proximity to each was very nice. I would recommend this place to anyone and would stay their again in the blink of an eye.

Great place, clean, cabin is well decorated

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay. The cabin is well represented in the photos. The kitchen was well sized for our trip. 2 adults and a 1 year old. The one main drawback was the proximity to surrounding cabins. We could see both neighbors on either side, and one behind through the wooded area. We only heard the neighbors to the left of the house. Inside the cabin we couldn't hear them, but outside at the fire ring or in the hot tub area you could hear them clearly. Additionally, the water out of the shower had a strange aroma to it, maybe just rusty/hard. The host was excellent as far as answering questions before the stay, and we had no reason to contact them during the stay. We discussed coming to stay again once the leaves have filled in a bit more and potentially provide a bit more privacy. If it weren't for the near by neighbors I can guarantee we'd stay here again. A great cabin.
