Overview

About the property

A 2 Bedroom 2 Bathroom Home With A 50' Lap Pool

Designed by famed architect Abraham Valenzuela, this house connects you to nature and to each other in revitalizing ways. Many locals and guests call it one of the finest tropical homes in the region. It overlooks a deep river basin, with ocean views. You experience nature, instead of the sounds, lights and noise of man. The main House is 2 bedrooms and 2 Bathrooms , the Casita has another queens bed and a day bed and a full bathroom with a shower , The Casita is an additional fee

In a gated community 12 km north of Nosara with many owner-occupied homes close by. Within the Rio Rosario river basin, which has probably the finest microclimate on Costa Rica's entire 780-mile Pacific Ocean coast.

Just minutes from several great restaurants - Hotel Luna Azul, Hotel San Juanillo, Tree Tops B&B - and easy drives to Nosara or Liberia over 3 new bridges built in 2012. This unspoiled coast area is inaccessible no more.

House offers dramatic river basin and ocean views, and unforgettable sunsets. Lush grounds surround it with flowering plants, ferns and palms. You hear crashing waves that amplify up the river basin for soothing hypnotic sounds. Watch shimmering light reflections on its 50’ infinity-edge lap pool - always with perfect swimming temperatures and for lounging upon.

The house sits 300’ up and 1/2 km back up from the ocean for near perfect year-round temperatures. All concrete construction with exotic wood, copper and stone finishes, the house stays cool all day long. Lush tree canopies offer shade and attract monkeys and birds close. Most Nosara area houses require a/c both night and day, but this house only rarely requires a/c. This means you get to hear the sounds of nature instead of the sounds of electricity, compressors and fans.

The house has many exotic stone/copper/wood finish treatments. A large gourmet kitchen with European gas stove with convection oven. Satellite TV, wireless Internet and strong cell phone signals. Alarm system, safe room with renter's safe. Covered carport. Cleaning, pool and landscape services included, and also concierge services too.

Two bedrooms sit on opposite ends of the house. The large master suite has a king bed with a tree house-like feel in a tree canopy over decorative ferns and plants below. Its wood/glass walls open to all screen walls to make you feel like you're in a tree house. The master bedroom walls open on three sides to allow refreshing breezes to flow through. A glass shower room opens onto a private deck with outside shower that overlooks gardens below.

Guest bedroom has a queen bed with 3/4 bath. Also a full-size bed in gazebo and deluxe daybed on veranda. A/c in both bedrooms, and luxury ceiling fans too.

The world-famous Ostional turtle beach is just 2 km south. Famous intermediate and expert surf breaks are close by in Nosara, Ostional and Marbella. The region's best safe swimming and snorkeling beaches are 2 km away in San Juanillo.

With the deep lap pool outside of most rooms, the house is not for young kids unable to swim. We prefer to rent to one or two couples, or a family of 4 with kids who swim.

The house has an amazing feeling of tranquility yet its a design wonder which will truly make you feel at home .

What makes this villa unique

The Air in our microclimate Area is the best we have felt in all of Costa Rica . You will be in a Nature Reserve of over 80 Acres with the Rio Rosario river basin just below the house and nice breezes blowing in to keep you comfortable with a much lower level of humidity then other parts of the country

Home is beautiful and comfortable!

  • 4 of 5

This home is in a jungle reserve and all you hear is nature--birds, howler monkeys, etc. The ocean and jungle views are peaceful and we enjoyed hearing and seeing the lovely views from the large pool and living area. The home is very comfortable with all necessities and more! The decor and layout is very beautiful and is well maintained. We enjoyed our surroundings while on the property. Jorjani (one of the caretakers) was fantastic--very accommodating and helpful during our stay. We grilled fresh fish from San Juanillo and enjoyed fresh ceviche from Playa Guinones too! The only negative (which is not under the owner's control) was the 45 mins of bumpy dirt roads to get to the home (after a paved road from Liberia airport) and to Playa Guionoes/Nosara. The nearby road conditions were so bad that it nearly ripped off the bumper of our rental car! The locals are well aware of the road conditions but i have lower back issues. The home itself is amazing and very relaxing! The photos accurately depict the home but its even better in person! We did walk to Hotel Luna Azul for dinner which was outstanding! Rolf was an excellent host! Thank you Sam for sharing your piece of paradise!

Amazing Property and Stay!

  • 5 of 5

If you think this property looks amazing in the pictures, just wait until you see it in person! We've rented a lot of vacation properties in Costa Rica as this is an annual destination for us, and this is definitely a favorite. We enjoyed swimming in the pool first thing every morning, and watching the wildlife play around in the jungle around the property. Just from the pool we saw monkeys, coatis, many types of birds, lizards and even a western spotted skunk (cutest thing ever). After a dip first thing, it was wonderful to prepare breakfast in the lovely kitchen and then enjoy a meal poolside. The entire setup of the house is bright and open; truly a dream.

Not only is the home beautiful and relaxing, but the owners and local managers were extremely helpful and accommodating. This was our first time in the Nosara area, and we found their recommendations to be invaluable. In particular, we loved our meal at the hotel right down the street, and also loved the experience and education we got visiting the Nosara Refuge for Wildlife. There is so much to do in this area, and we feel like we only hit the tip of the ice berg. We will definitely be back, and would choose to stay at this property again in a heartbeat.

Well beyond words and our imagination

  • 5 of 5

We live in Los Angeles and have heard from so many people that we need to visit Costa Rica (CR). With our busy lifestyles, the truth is that we hadn't taken a vacation for years. To be honest, we never even took our honeymoon... and it's been 3.5 years since we got married. It was time for some Pura Vida (a saying you will hear several times when you visit Costa Rica).

We started searching for where we would like to visit while in CR and decided upon the Guanacaste region along the Pacific Coast. So we narrowed our search and began looking for the "perfect" place to stay. We checked resort after resort... and then we stumbled upon Sam and Mary's home and it changed everything. As soon as we saw the photos and connected with Sam and Mary, we knew this was the perfect home.

We flew into Liberia airport, rented a car, and drove about 2 hours to the house. Our flight was delayed, so we did a bit of night driving once we landed. It was an interesting drive to say the least. Bumpy dirt roads, no street lights, dark, etc. Thankfully Sam called us on our cell to make sure things were going well.

He quickly became our personal guide to the home. But this is just how it is in CR. At first it seems scary and strange, but it quickly becomes perfect. It's all part of the adventure.

The home. Wow. It is breathtaking. The architecture, the decor, the view, the pool, the outdoor shower, the monkeys in the trees, "iggy" the iguana, the privacy, the kitchen. Literally everything about it was perfect... even the occasional bug or gecko. It's just part of the CR experience, so don't be alarmed. Having said that, we also never got bit by a single mosquito.

The house is also a 5- or 20- minute drive to anything we needed, from zip-lining, renting atv's and driving through rivers and on the beach, seeing the turtles of Ostional, swimming in the ocean, Yoga at the Bodhi tree, massages, great meals at Hotel Luna Azul, La Luna, Ancient peoples, La Sodita, Tortuga, and many more. It was also nice to just cook at the house and relax by the pool.

Then there were Yorjani and Maureen, the cutest local couple ever, that manage the property and were there to help us with anything we needed. Literally, we could call them at anytime. They quickly became life-long friends.

If this is the region of CR that you want to visit, look no further for a place to stay. We will be back... many times.Thank you, Sam and Mary, for letting us feel at home in your home.

Spectacular home in a beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

This is a truly incredible home.

My wife and I stayed here for a week to celebrate our respective 40th birthdays. The setting is beautiful with views of the forest and, in the distance, the ocean. Sam and Mary have obviously put a ton of work into the details of the house, and it is truly impressive. The pool is fantastic, and my wife and I went for a morning swims every day and then ate our breakfast poolside. The master bedroom has sliding doors and screens that allow you to feel like you are part of the forest while resting comfortably inside a beautiful, luxurious room.

The only thing to note for the uninitiated, is that the roads to San Juanillo and Nosara are dirt roads and require a four-wheel-drive vehicle. The drive into Nosara is about 20 minutes from the house and crosses two rivers. I would also say, that if it is your first time driving in Costa Rica, you should make the trip to the house during the day as the rules of the road are somewhat looser than in the U.S. Also, The house is tucked away, which is fantastic, but would make it it somewhat tricky to find for the first time in the dark.

Overall, we had an absolutely wonderful time, and we hope to return to this astonishingly beautiful house again.

Owner's Response: Thank you Erick ,we are glad you loved being at our home and we would be happy to welcome you back whenever you find the time to take a moment to shut down the noise of everyday living . The state of the road is actually pretty good these days and if it was paved it probably would encourage the kind of development the would ruin the serenity of this area , thats the trade off . The next time you come the road will feel like part of the experience hahaha . Pura Vida
