About Kim Kotnik

My parents are originally from Ohio and they raised their children in San Diego, CA where they worked in public education (math professor and high school administrator). They spent years looking for a lake-view Tahoe property where they could build a family vacation house to enjoy with their 4 kids. My Mom worked closely with the builder to design a functional, practical and memorable family space. The professionals told us that the kitchen was 'too big, but we knew that a vacation home where 10+ people can cook, eat and drink together in the kitchen with everyone doing their little (or big) job would be great. We love the outdoors. My Mom hiked the entire 156-mile Tahoe Rim Trail (TRT) when she was 70 years old. The kids are now in their 40s with kids of their own. The house will be renting for the first time in 2015, hopefully to 'friends and family' including some new friends we make in the process of welcoming you to Lake Tahoe!

Kim Kotnik purchased this house in 1996

Why Kim Kotnik chose Incline Village NV

We chose this property because of the views, proximity to all the natural wonders of Lake Tahoe's North Shore, and the ability to design and build a spacious, family-friendly house.

What makes this house unique

Lake Tahoe is unique for a million reasons -- probably why you are considering it for your vacation. As a new vacation home listing, our family and local manager will do everything possible to make sure you love your stay and want to come back regularly. If there's something we have that would make your stay better, let us know and we'll work out the details.

amazing house - views views views!

  • 5 of 5

We had the best time at Kim's lovely house. It was a super last minute booking and Kim was the most responsive host ever. She made our stay super easy and was aways responding in the hour if we had any questions. The house itself is amazing: stunning panoramic views from the lake and the beautiful mountains in almost every room. The house is super clean, cosy and incredibly well equipped: I challenge anybody to find something they need and miss in this house, it is just impossible! On top of that the house and surroundings were super quiet.

Thank you so much Kim for letting us stay at your beautiful house. We will definitely be back.

Gem of a find

  • 5 of 5

We have annually rented Tahoe view homes over Christmas to be with our children and grandchildren. This home has, by far, the best view throughout. It was very clean and well equipped with all amenities and the owner provides clear, concise and very helpful information for the stay.

One suggestion: The simple description of the view from this home does not do the beauty of the actual location justice.

Wonderful House with great views

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of 6 adults and 3 boys and loved the set up of the house because everyone had their space. The deck is a wonderful place to just sit and enjoy the view of Lake Tahoe. The kitchen has just about everything you would need to cook anything. We enjoyed hiking, going to Speedboat beach, playing games and reading books. We would definitely stay here again.

Summer Vacation & Spring Break Ski Trip!! Perfect

  • 5 of 5

We have now stayed at this incredible house TWO times, once in summer and once in winter/spring!! With both stays being amazing! First off, the view of the lake from the house will knock your socks off, with three incredible decks to sit back and enjoy the scenery. The kitchen is incredibly well stocked, with every appliance you need, ample dishes, spices, etc. The kitchen and views were so wonderful, we made every meal at the house. Private lake view dining for every meal is the best! There is a bedroom for every type of sleeper: from king beds to twin beds, the house easily accommodated our family. The house was immaculately clean and we have felt so grateful to call it home for two spectacular visits. Location of the house couldn't be better, Crystal Bay is such a beautiful area of the lake, very quiet and "local" feeling. You are removed from the touristy scene, yet, grocery, restaurants, kayak & ski rental shops, beaches, hikes are just minutes away. The owners have put together a binder of local favorites and recommendations to enhance your stay and house details that came in very handy. It seems owners have gone out of their way to anticipate your every need, and we appreciated it!!!!

Excellent home for multiple families with a spectacular view

  • 4 of 5

The home is a bit older (as you can tell from the photos) but has everything you need for an enjoyable stay. The kitchen was really large and well stocked from gadgets to seasonings. We had a lot of kids with us so it was nice to have little plastic kid's chairs and even kid-safe bowls and cups. The layout of the house is perfect for multiple families. One master upstairs and the 4 bedrooms downstairs are divided so there are 2 on each side of the stairs. It was great to be able to park in the garage and having a key code made it very simple to come and go. We were a little disappointed that there was no TV upstairs outside of the master bedroom and the rooms could benefit from a deep cleaning (dust and cobwebs in corners) but overall a great vacation! We had a few issues with older appliances but the owner was extremely responsive and a pleasure to work with. The house is also in a great location with everything you need close by including a neighborhood spot to sled.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review and the feedback! This is our first winter season renting the house and we have acted on all your suggestions. Having the main TV downstairs instead of upstairs was done on purpose to promote good, old-fashioned human interaction for our own family. But it's a long-standing debate that will eventually get settled. For now the main TV is still on the lower level, and I will post this info more prominently in the listing. Thanks again and hope to welcome you back for a future vacation.

This 5 bedroom 3.5 bath family home is perfectly situated to enjoy all of Lake Tahoe's natural beauty and outdoor activities in summer and winter! Beginner to intermediate skiing/snowboarding at Diamond Peak is excellent and inexpensive. Great kids program. Northstar, Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows and Mt. Rose are easily accessible for more avid skiers. 'Tahoe Meadows' is 10 minutes away and has fantastic cross country skiing, snow-shoeing trails and sledding, plus hiking in the summertime. Closest beach is Speedboat which has thick, grainy white sand, amazing clear water and numerous boulders for jumping, diving and resting (family friendly/chill location; not commercial). Excellent restaurants including Soule Domain, Lone Eagle Grill and Big Water Grill are close by. Steamers in Kings Beach is our favorite semi-gourmet pizza place. Just behind the house is a little known 'fire lookout trail' that takes you to a breathtaking view of Crystal Bay, Kings Beach, Lake Tahoe and the CA/NV state line. Nature loop trail runs around the top. Hike is suitable for adults wanting a bit of exercise and kids wanting to run around. Ideal morning coffee or afternoon cocktail location if you feel the need to venture out beyond the decks of the house. Tahoe has so much to offer -- owners happy to share info and recommendations for all local activities.
