About John Faccone

We live in Arizona and this is our Retirement Condo. Not quite ready to live here part time or full time, so you can enjoy our condo for now.

John Faccone purchased this condo in 2015

Why John Faccone chose Quintana Roo

We have spent our life traveling the world. Europe, Australia, US, Canada and Mexico. If you are a beach person or just want to be where it is warm all year, this is the place. We started coming to Cancun in 1990 and have visited about every 2 years. In between trips we went to these other places, including Hawaii 10 times, and have never found anything better. We started venturing down the Mayan Riviera about 10 years ago and realized it was unique. We found the Tao Wellness Center online and last year booked our timeshare at the Bahia Principe Resort. We were instantly sold! You will not find a better combination of Residences, Beaches, Resort Environment and Golf anywhere. Try it out and let us know if you agree.

John and Ann Faccone

Spend your vacation on the property of the Bahia Principe Resort and spend every day doing something different or just go to the beach! You decide where you want to eat or just cook at home. Play golf, all water sports available, Mayan Ruins, Play del Carmen's 5th Avenue or small town of Tulum close-by. What a location!

You get the all benefits of the Bahia Principe Resort, except food and drinks, without paying $65 per person per day all-inclusive fees!

Perfect location and enjoyed our stay

  • 4 of 5

It was our first time in Mexico and we were thrilled to have chosen this condo. It's located about two hours from the airport. John encouraged us to rent a car and we did. The flat is in Tao which is located across the highway from the beach. It was perfectly located, quiet, tidy and just as pictured. We appreciated the filtered water and the friendly manager who checked on is to make sure were okay. The beach is a few miles drive but that worked out fine especially with a car- if not we would have had to spend lots of time waiting for the tram to take us to the hotels or the golf club where we had to pick up bracelets, towel cards and day passes. The day passes were a terrific deal as it included four meals /drinks etc for $60 per person person. Needless to say we hardly cooked. The passes also gave acces to The Luxury Bahia Principe which we found to be most relaxing. The only things that needed improvement were 1. information on how to get dinner when arriving late at night. After a long plane ride and long drive at night we ended up back in the car looking for food and had to drive into Akumal town to find one barely open grocery store and ate ham and cheese sandwiches for dinner as all restaurants closed at 9 pm .2. The beds were pretty uncomfortable and the pillows and sheets really could use replacing. They are worn and done. For such a nice condo, nice bed covers and pillows could do wonders. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay and will definitely recommend to others.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying in our home at TAO at the Bahia Príncipe Resort. We appreciate your review and hope you will stay with us again. I wish to respond to a few items. The drive to our condo from the airport is just over an hour. Being this was your first time I'm sure it took a little longer. In our emails to you we tell you about the Chadreaux in Playa del Carmen and recommend you stop there for some initial supplies. Our room service at TAO closes at 9, so sorry. Since this is our home away from home we selected our mattresses in 2015 to our liking, plush pillow tops by Sealy. If a person is used to a firmer mattress that could feel uncomfortable. Finally Ann and I were there in October and purchased new sheets for both beds. I apologize if the maids put on the older sets, I will have them removed from the condo.

Clean, comfortable and affordable!

  • 4 of 5

The condo is exactly as pictured, & located in a new development called Tao within the Bahia Principe complex. It was the perfect basecamp for our family's wonderful vacation to the Riviera Maya. John was an excellent host, accommodating us on little notice, as our travel plans changed last minute, and was always prompt with answering any questions and addressing any concerns. The condo is well equipped for basic cooking, but there are no food stuffs provided. So if you plan on cooking pick up any oils, butter, sugar & spices that you may need. A 5 gallon purified water jug is provided and is much appreciated!! The TAO complex is lovely and the staff is exceptional - very friendly and helpful. The pool is a quiet, peaceful alternative to the Bahia Principe resort area - which was much more lively and touristy during our stay. Don't miss La Buena Vida Beach Front restaurant in Akumal - it was our family's favorite spot - gorgeous views, tasty food and fun hammocks, swings and even a tree house & pool for guests to enjoy. All in all, - magical vacation. Thanks so much, John & Anne!

Beautiful condo located in a luxurious resort! It is a great place for a family vacation. The condo is excellent - clean, comfortable, and elegantly designed. Two bedrooms, a spacey living and dining room, a fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, new furniture, excellent AC.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay!

Relaxing, lovely, retreat

  • 5 of 5

John's condo was very spacious, modern, clean and beautifully built inside, with lovely gardens surrounding the buildings. We slept sounded in the comfy

bed and were very comfortable with the mosquitos safely kept outside. The wood inside was beautiful with large wooden closet and bedroom doors. Because their are thick wooden doors between the other bathroom and bedroom area, it would give another couple complete privacy. Perfect place for 2 couples or a family! The Taos center was wonderful as well with a healthy breakfast offered every morning and pizza/salads for lunch or dinner. They even

delivered the pizza to us. The waiters was very accommodating and even put fans next to us (the mosquitos prevailed) The 2 lap pools were fabulous under the nice shady trees. And the large swimming pool was clean, sunny and bright with plenty of nice chairs and umbrellas to sit under.

The only problem we had at Tao was the outside sitting (in a lovely garden) was inundated with mosquitos ( in June anyway) Our suggestion is to offer

seating at tables inside the building and with some air conditioning (because there is very little breeze to chase away the bugs and get cooled a bit).

The dance and yoga classes also sounded like fun but were a little early for us.

Our last problem was with the management at Bahia Principe, especially at the club house. They tell you that you can get a ride to the Tao area on the tram until 7:00 (or even 10pm if you go to a show) so you can visit their "resort" in the Tulum/Akumal building side until then. But the tram sometimes stops at 5? it's unpredictable. Also, unless you pay the all inclusive you can not buy any food at their beach or resort and it is difficult to get drinks as well. We recommend what we did and liked very much, going into Tulum or Akumal towns( to eat and shop (great things to buy in Tulum or somethings near the ruins as well) on the collectivo (small modern, air conditioned vans that pick you up on the main hwy every 5 or 10 minutes) or if you can afford to rent a car ($45 a day at Hertz, with full insurance). The prices for car rentals on line are honored when their office in Tulum etc. You can take the ADO to and from

the airport for the cheapest modern bus offered. Sincerely, Fred and Caroline Duarte

Owner's Response: Hi Caroline, thank you for your kind words regarding our condo. Ann and I were there last June, for 2 weeks, and we used Off bug spray and never had a bite. Also, as you know, there are no mosquitoes at the beach, where we spent most of our days. As far as buying food at the resort, I know they are very strict, and that is why you have yellow wristbands which designate you are a guest at the Residences. We always packed a lunch and beer in the cooler we leave at the condo and never had a problem buying drinks for $3 each. As far a shuttles, we let guests know that there is a cut off time of 7:00 PM, however the bell men at the Sian Ka'an will always take you back to Tao for a small tip. Finally, as I often say in my responses and when guests are booking, Rent A Car! It is so economical when you consider that it is $75 per person just to get back and forth from the airport. There is so much to see and do in Tulum and Playa del Carmen and it's unfortunate if you miss out on these activities. Thanks, John

Riviera Maya Bahia Principe

  • 4 of 5

Thank you John for allowing us to use your condo at the Tao community. The condo was perfect for my family and we had an awesome time. It was very clean and well kept. I appreciate all of your suggestions about how to make our stay more enjoyable. I only wish that we had stayed on the beach. It was a little cumbersome to drive to the beach/pool when we wanted to play. Thank you so much for talking me into renting a car.

Owner's Response: Steve. Thank you for your honest review. I really appreciate you mentioning getting to the beach. When guests stay at our condo, instead of on the beach at the resort, they are making a choice between having a full kitchen, and the peace and quiet of the TAO complex, versus a hotel room with mandatory all-inclusive fees. For your family of 4 staying on the beach would have cost you the all-inclusive fees, plus the hotel cost that varies with the season. That is why I recommended to you and your family that you rent a car and drive the 5 minutes, without ever leaving the resort property, to the beach. Even if you didn't have a car the shuttles takes 15-20 minutes, also a small price to pay for doing your own meals, and having about twice the space. As you said it took a little time to get to the beautiful beach, with all the resort amenities of the Bahia Príncipe, however you had a wonderful vacation at less than half the cost and much more comfort. Thanks again for staying at our condo. John
