A great winter getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing time. We stayed at the cottage from February 9-11. The cottage had plenty of space and activities to keep our kids occupied when we were inside. The cottage had absolutely everything we needed to cook and enjoy ourselves. It was very close to Sir Sam's for some winter skiing and/or snowshoeing. We were able to easily access the lake to do some ice fishing as well. Lindsay was timely and thorough withbher communication and responded quickly to any questions. Overall, a great stay and experience.

Awesome Cottage

  • 4 of 5

Was a beautiful spot , driveway was really hard to into due to ice but a little sand helped that. Great cottage to spend a weekend with the family or a bunch of friends.

Nice place with plenty of space and amenities

  • 4 of 5

Lindsay's cottage is nice, very spacious, with all sort of amenities. Lindsay is very warm and responsive to my inquiry and communication during my stay. We had a great time there. Thank you Lindsay.

Two things I feel worth mentioning though: the cottage is not back on lake, you need to walk across a country road to access the dock. It is not a big problem, there isn't much traffic at all. But certainly different from many other cottages I stayed in. The canoe is in good condition, but really small (probably a 14 feeter), it fits 2 adults, but feels rather unstable under even just moderately windy condition. I would have given Lindsay's cottage 5 stars if it were not for these two caveats.

Big cottage on a beautiful lake

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was perfect for our 2 families for Thanksgiving. The scenery was beautiful and the lake was nice and peaceful. We loved the main floor with the good sized full kitchen; The living room, dining room and bar setup was very impressive.

The kids loved it too with plenty of space to run around and games to play. They had a ball.

Our only complaint was the queen bed in the upstairs front bedroom. It was very noisy and uncomfortable, however there was another bedroom on the bottom floor that we could have used.

There were also some issues left behind from the previous tenants, however we informed Lindsay, who was very understanding and helpful.

The cottage is in need of a bit of repair but nothing that would spoil our time up there. We would love to come back again next year.

My 35th Birthday

  • 4 of 5

Myself and my friends had a blast at the Cottage!

Lindsay, Thank you again for having us!

Linsday was quick to respond to any of our questions. The cottage looks exactly as it does in pictures!

It is listed by others that there is rusty smell from the water but its nothing that cant be worked around. We did and made the best of the situation. Its really the ONLY thing we had an issue with. Lots of space, Ping Pong Table and Volleyball is where you found us if we weren't eating.

Kayaking and Canoeing into the lake was enjoy by some of my friends. We are already planning our next trip back! Have fun future visitors!

Thank you again Lindsay!

There is SO much to see and do in the Haliburton Highlands. Enjoy a stroll along Main street and pop into the charming boutiques that downtown Haliburton is famous for. Or for the more adventurous go for a "Walk in the Clouds" or visit the Wolf Centre located at Haliburton Forest and Wildlife Reserve. In the winter go for a snowmobile ride on their groomed and man-made snow replenished trails. (

Minden is also locatated only 20 minutes from the cottage. Like Haliburton, Minden is a quaint charming town, located along the Gull River, with plenty of boutiques and shops to explore. Be sure to check out the Artisan Market opened every Saturday in the summer. Minden is also host to the white water Canoe/Kayak Slalom event during the TORONTO PAN AM Games Summer 2015. (

Another adorable town to visit during your stay is Dorset. Home to Robinson's General Store, voted Canada's Best Country Store. It is about a 30 minute drive to Dorset. You MUST stop in and get a frozen yogurt treat across the street at Northern D'Lites as well! Check out the Dorset lookout tower which is 142 m (465 ft) above Lake of Bays. If you make to the top the view is breathtaking!

For the fisherman out there, Maple Lake is known to be one of the best fishing lakes in Haliburton Highlands!

Winter in Haliburton is just as exciting. Sir Sams Ski and Mountain Bike Resort is only 20 minutes away offering family fun for all. ( The cottage is directly on the Haliburton County Snowmobile Trails. (

There is so much to do and see in the area, or if you're like me you can just head down to the dock with a good book and a glass of wine and enjoy the peaceful views of Maple Lake!
