this is a nice place . everything we need to cook and keep ourselves entertained . kitchens a little small but we made it work .
8 guys on a golf trip and we had tons of space . water has made the toilets a red but nothing harmful .
Our stay at this property was filled with lots of fun activity and adventure, making memories that will last a lifetime. The cottage was very spacious and came with lots of land and water toys for both young and old to enjoy....we were never bored! The cottage is very spacious with lots of sleeping areas and room to move around. We had seven adults and three children aged two and under and we never felt like we were crowded and tripping over each other. The owner is very pleasant to work with and responded immediately when the BBQ became unsafe to use early in the week. The owner came to the cottage with a "Plan A" and a BACKUP plan so that the issue was resolved while onsite and well before noon the next day. The cottage has some maintenance issues that need to be resolved immediately, the most serious being a leaking roof in several spots. Some TLC in other areas of the cottage would go a long way in making this property an even more enjoyable stay. We had an awesome time and would most certainly consider returning for another week at Maple Lake!
Location of the cottage is perfect. It is less then 20 minutes from Halliburton and Miden and 5 minutes from a convenience store which has all needed day to day items.
The lake it's self is pretty quiet, lots of places to fish, but the dock area is very shallow. There is one boat launch which is on Stanhope Airport Road and it is in pretty good shape.
When it comes to the cottage, I would rate it as "good" but could be "great". It is the perfect size for larger groups, as everyone can find a room to relax in if they want to participate in a group activity or just want some alone time. As the Linda W. stated in her review there as some things that need to be fixed to bring it up to par. There is some water damage in the top floor bedroom, screens are missing from most of the windows and other general maintenance and repairs need to be done to the building. The lawn also needed to be cut, but we were advised that the lawn cutter had quit on the owners. Also, propane for the BBQ should be included in the rental, we got stuck with one empty propane tank and a second one that only lasted a day and a half.
Lindsay is a great person to deal with. If you have any issues she is quick to respond and wants to know if there is anything wrong with the cottage. If she fixes the issues which I have advised her about, I would consider renting the cottage again.
We had a lovely week at Lindsay's cottage. After a few minor glitches all was well. Lots of room for three generations. Lots of water toys and games to play in the cottage. Deer appeared in the back yard. The gradual entrance into the lake was great for toddlers. The kitchen was well stocked. We enjoyed the large deck off the kitchen for catching rays, having a cocktail and ate dinner out there every night. Made use of the large fire pit in the evening. It was too shallow to fish off the dock but a neighbour allowed the little ones to use her longer dock. The cottage was very clean. Generally it was well maintained but there were some signs of water damage in a third floor bedroom. The owner reassured us that they were on their list of repairs and not recent. There was also a lack of windows that we could open for fresh air and a cool breeze. They were either non-functioning or did not have screens on them. Another maintenance issue I guess. The owner had left several fans which really helped. Lindsay responded to my questions and concerns very quickly. Thus reassured we went on to have a great week. We enjoyed a big craft fair in Haliburton. Just south of Minden we used go carts, mini golf and batting cages. We enjoyed local restaurants and craft breweries. Thanks for sharing your cottage.
Well maintained and Modern. This cottage was perfect for our group. We had eight adults with plenty of room. It is close to Sir SAMs ski hill and two great micro brewery's. We will definatley be rebooking.
Cottage was very comfortable. Clean, cozy and warm. Very roomy, many entertainment areas for a large family to spread out. Never out of things to do.
Snowed while we were there, plough came to clear the driveway. Need proper snow shovel for clearing stairs and decks.
The listing should mention you need to bring your own drinking water, very high iron content in tap water. Also, you need to bring all your own towels and linens. This should also be mentioned in the listing.
Property is lovely, deer came to visit in the yard one night. Access to the lake is very convenient. Path from the back yard to snowshoeing/hiking trail.
Shopping nearby, good road access, plenty of parking.
Owner answers questions in a very timely manner. Very friendly. Would definitely rent here again.
There is SO much to see and do in the Haliburton Highlands. Enjoy a stroll along Main street and pop into the charming boutiques that downtown Haliburton is famous for. Or for the more adventurous go for a "Walk in the Clouds" or visit the Wolf Centre located at Haliburton Forest and Wildlife Reserve. In the winter go for a snowmobile ride on their groomed and man-made snow replenished trails. (www.haliburtonforest.com)
Minden is also locatated only 20 minutes from the cottage. Like Haliburton, Minden is a quaint charming town, located along the Gull River, with plenty of boutiques and shops to explore. Be sure to check out the Artisan Market opened every Saturday in the summer. Minden is also host to the white water Canoe/Kayak Slalom event during the TORONTO PAN AM Games Summer 2015. Another adorable town to visit during your stay is Dorset. Home to Robinson's General Store, voted Canada's Best Country Store. It is about a 30 minute drive to Dorset. You MUST stop in and get a frozen yogurt treat across the street at Northern D'Lites as well! Check out the Dorset lookout tower which is 142 m (465 ft) above Lake of Bays. If you make to the top the view is breathtaking!
For the fisherman out there, Maple Lake is known to be one of the best fishing lakes in Haliburton Highlands!
Winter in Haliburton is just as exciting. Sir Sams Ski and Mountain Bike Resort is only 20 minutes away offering family fun for all. (http://sirsams.com/) The cottage is directly on the Haliburton County Snowmobile Trails. (http://www.hcsa.ca)
There is so much to do and see in the area, or if you're like me you can just head down to the dock with a good book and a glass of wine and enjoy the peaceful views of Maple Lake!

Please leave the cottage as you found it. The property is to be left clean and tidy upon departure with dishes washed and put away and garbage taken to the dump. We do not expect you to spend your last day cleaning of course, but it is to be left suitable for the next guests. We take pride in our Maple Haven and want all guests to enjoy and treat it as you would a good friend's house!
