About Brenda Glasgow

We are Tim & Brenda Glasgow. We have lived in the area for most of our lives. We own and operate the local Heating & Air Company, Mountain Air Inc., we have been in business since 1995. We have several rental properties and have just this summer started our vacation rental properties. Please give us a try and help us build a wonderful story with Lakeside Haven

Brenda Glasgow purchased this house in 2015

Why Brenda Glasgow chose Butler

This property is very secluded, it is hidden and shaded by many beautiful trees. You can sit on the deck enjoy the view while you eat your breakfast every morning and in the evening sit in the hot tub naked as a Jay-Bird if that is your wish no one will see you!

What makes this house unique

I love this property because it so well hidden from the view of neighbors as well as the lake traffic. You can sit out on the deck in the hot tub and enjoy the peaceful wooded privacy and a view of the beautiful Watauga Lake or jump in the Tandem ( built for 2) Kayak or tone of the two single Kayaks or 1 youth kayak and paddle of into the sunset. Its up to you!

Wonderful cabin on the lake with plenty of peace and quiet. Everything you need is provided and Brenda was more than accommodating with the agreement and answered all questions. Great little hideaway to park your car and just relax for the weekend. Can't wait to return for another weekend.

Great rental. Everything we wanted, and no hassles.

  • 4 of 5

The rental was clean, and coordination with the property manager was easy. We only stayed for one evening, so it was really nice that the kayaks were available with the cabin, and that it was so easy to access the lake. They had a great selection of sizes for life vests, so we were able to pick some that were just right. It was too warm to use the hot tub in the evening, but it was a nice bonus in the morning when we woke up and it was cool outside. It was very peaceful, and we were able to see a hummingbird flying through the trees. Our only constructive criticism relates to the fact that we didn't expect to run out of toilet paper in one night. There was just a small amount of a roll when we arrived, and there were no spare rolls. We didn't think to bring some with us since we were only staying one evening. There isn't a store near, so that would have been really inconvenient if it weren't for the box of tissues that made a reasonable substitute. There was enough dish detergent for one load in the dishwasher, and we didn't realize until we were cleaning up to leave that the dishwasher was full of clean dishes. We would have used some of them if we had realized that they were there, but this was a minor inconvenience. There wasn't any laundry soap, so we weren't able to start the load of towels washing before we left. All in all, we had a wonderful time. It would've been nice if the place has been a little bit better stocked, but we'd still be happy to rent it again.

Lease with Great Caution

  • 1 of 5

This property has a great location near the water with two kayaks, hot tub, and a quaint space to relax indoors. It is comfortable for two but wouldn’t recommend a party larger than that. My wife and I enjoyed the stay, however, the expectation for cleanliness goes beyond what is listed on the check out sheet and VRBO website. The sheet inside simply says to start a load of dishes and laundry; I had no problem doing this. We rented this for our honeymoon and there were rose pedals placed across the bed and on parts of the carpet. After my wife and I checked out, we got a call from the owner saying there were wine stains all over the carpet and comforter. After explaining that the rose petals caused these marks, the owner was creating stories such as, “wine was thrown all over the bed and carpet.” Also created a story that, “the hot tub chemicals were imbalanced due to all of the thrashing about and leaving behind bodily oils.” After an extremely assuming and condescending phone conversation it was decided that the security deposit would not be refunded to replace her sheets. Regarding the carpet, it was a very small mark according to the pictures we received and the owner stated, “Replacing a carpet is much cheaper than court fees.” According to the VRBO website, owners need to be prepared for small incidents/ wear and tear on the property. My standard of cleanliness has been tried and tested being in the Navy and medical field; therefore I always strive to leave things better than I found them. I understand replacing sheets that are stained however the manner in which this was handled was grossly insulting. I felt the intention was not to cover “damage” fees but to make a quick buck. All in all, the property was great but dealing with the owner was not worth staying there.

Owner's Response: This young man and his wife destroyed the following with wine and fire...yes I said fire: 1 queen sized bed spread 1 queen 1000 threadcount sheet set. 1 High quality white towel 3 stains on Carpet. He and his wife apparently really enjoyed themselves and that is wonderful. I had to purchase the above items to replace and spent 2 days shampooing/drying carpet trying to get the stain out in vain I might add. That is 2 days that I could not rent the place. Basic math skills will tell you how I made out on this reservation. His father made the reservations for him and then he made the excuses for his entitled son when he left the damage he did. Cleanliness has nothing to do with this. It was straight up DAMAGE. I think the other 33 positive reviews speak for themselves. In the 3 years that I have had this unit on VRBO no one has EVER had me keep there deposit nor has anyone else EVER set my sheets or anything else on fire. I am sorry if this father felt I was talking down to him. That was not my intention nor my tone. I merely shared with him the damages to my property. I guess none of us like to hear our children are not perfect
