About Julia Considine
I am a native North Carolinian who is nourished by the natural beauty of the outdoors. This home is embraced by the lovely flora and fauna of the land and offers deep serenity to its guests. I enjoy gathering fantastic fresh food from Asheville's farmer's markets and preparing delicious healthy meals for my family. I also love jogging and practicing yoga.
Julia Considine purchased this House in 2008
Why Julia Considine chose Asheville
I have resided in the gorgeous mountains of North Carolina for the majority of my life and am grateful to call this part of the country home. I tended to the flower gardens and the forest on this property for nearly a decade before turning it into a vacation rental for others to enjoy.

An excellent spring break!
Asheville is a great city to visit with kids. We were two families with 4 girls aged 10,10,12,13 seeking a hiking vacation with a nice cabin to come home and relax at afterward. This house definitely achieved (exceeded even) that goal.
Asheville is 15-20 minutes from this house so after a long day of hiking, you can sample some craft beers and BBQ in the city. We enjoyed a little urbanity each day before heading home to relax at the cabin and cook dinners (or eat takeout).
The kitchen is stocked well enough to cook your meals, so that's handy. There is a good sized grocery store about 10 minutes away, which was helpful for breakfast foods and a few dinners as well. There's no grill at the house, just FYI.
Everything you see in the pictures is exactly what you get with the house, so there were zero surprises and the house lived up to the expectations we had when we booked. It was clean, ready for our arrival and everything was easy about our stay.
The driveway is steep as mentioned, but we didn't find it difficult. I suppose it might not be fun in ice or snow, but we had rain and it wasn't an issue at all. We went out hiking each day and returned in the dark several times without issue. As the owner mentions, GPS is not going to get you to this house, but her helpful video was all we needed initially and after that you'll know the way yourself. It's not complex.
We would definitely stay here again.
Lovely stay in a magical home
We had such a great stay here and will def be coming back
Excellent Mountain Getaway!!
First off...the owner Julia is an amazing host who made our snowy vacation perfect all around. She gave us every instruction necessary to make the most of our stay at the house.
Second..The views are second to none. We all found ourselves relaxing outside enjoying the views as well as the views from inside. The kitchen was perfect for our party that had every necessary pot, pan, and utensil for us foodies. The house is about a 20 minute drive into town to visit the breweries, eateries, and shops. We found that Lyft had more available vehicles for our party of 5.
All in all we highly recommend this beautiful home for families, couples, and friends to vacation in.
PS. Make sure you arrive while the sun is out so you don't miss a couple small but important turns.
So much amazing, it's hard to sum up!!!!
This was, by far, our best vrbo-esque experience to date and we are not new to the format. We went prepared: small stash of laundry detergent, dryer sheets, and dishwasher soap; kosher salt, pepper, tin foil, etc; and, of course, wine. There was little need: the only thing not included was the wine :) There was a well appointed kitchen with the basics in spices, better than expected cookware, matching and plentiful dishes, and a fridge door full of condiments. We cooked daily and it was a pleasure. Each full bathroom contained a 3 in 1 shampoo/condition/soap situation from Trader Joe's, if not also other showering supplies. The linens were great - no stamp-sized, thin towels there! Large and plentiful so the washer wasn't constantly running... NOT that there would've been anything wrong with that because omg, the laundry room was simply spectacular. I had major envy.
The bedrooms were comfortable and the views breathtaking. We stayed in the master while our friends took the top floor. I raced up with them just so I could hear the gasp as they crested the last step to see the mountains open before them through the giant circle of a picture window.
The kids loved the slide. You'd think it would've gotten old but no. They also spent HOURS in the outside playhouse, which was AWESOME. Plus, after the first time just to check it out and make sure they wouldn't fall off the mountain, I could clearly see them from the deck.
Now, let's just talk about this house. It is so obviously a labor of love and the details are simply too numerous to mention. Custom cabinetry and thoughtful, functional touches are everywhere. The low, pull out cabinets on either side of the laundry room are actually hampers that connect to the master and kids' room. Whimsical designs grace the pantry door and the curve of the lines around the living area to delineate wood from tile is lovely and is reflected in the doors of the cabinet under the kitchen sink. Almost all light and electric plates are individual. The stairs are simply gorgeous. The overall impression is that the house has a story. It is well loved and cared for and that is exactly how we treated it.
The personal touches and thoughtfulness of our host were so abundant and unexpected, we cannot rave enough. For those faint of heart, know that the drive up is a bit scarier than the drive down but it's well worth it. We had no issues traveling in or out and we were close to everything! Thank you, Julia!
Beautiful property up in the tree canopy! Clean, well appointed and comfortable. The owner, Julia was responsive with inquiries regarding directions and check in. The driveway was a slight challenge the first time in, with so many turns and hills. But after the first time we got the hang of it and it was not a big deal. The property is close enough to downtown Asheville to venture in for the day while also allowing us to escape the crowds and enjoy pure peace and relaxation.
Perfect house for families and kids!
We just spent a week there with 5 kids all under the age of 5 and 4 adults. The 4 oldest kids (5-3 years old) all slept in the bunk bed room - they loved taking turns in the bunk bed! We had a 1 year old who we put in the pack in play in the master bedroom with us. The kids would slide down for breakfast each morning and play on the slide while the adults cooked. We relaxed on the huge porch in the evenings. The kids loved the out-door shower on the deck. You feel like you're up in trees the way the property is situated on the hill side. It's an easy 10 minute drive to downtown Asheville, and about a 5 minute drive to a nice large grocery store. We can't wait to go back!
Spacious Family and Lover's Retreat Enjoy coffee or tea on the deck in the privacy of a green canopy of 100-year-old trees; lounge on the porch swing and thrill to the outdoor deck shower. Master chef kitchen, 4 bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, enchanting details, kid friendly, romantic, epic.
