We are passionate about family, our four legged babies and the Tennessee Vols. We currently live in Dallas TX and once a year we would rent a lake house always on a different lake in TN to unwind and rejuvenate. When we rented on Watauga we knew we had found a special place. We want to share that with you. We hope that you enjoy
Rustic and Private with all the comforts of home
Feed your soul with the beauty of nature off the deck and come in to feed your body with the culinary kitchen stocked with an amazing heartland appliances as well as a pasta maker !
First, let me tell you the positives:
For a pet friendly rental the place it was extremely clean.
Good cable tv and wi-fi
Beautiful view, Lake Wataga is a gorgeous lake
The owners are very accommodating
Negatives for senior citizens like us:
The steps going up to the second floor are a challenge
The place is hard to find and the road up the mountain is a tough climb and a bit scary.
If you are a senior citizen I would not recommend this rental. If you are younger and adventurous it could be an ideal place.

Property is becoming dated but still very lovely.
We loved our stay at the Antler Cabin!
Thank you for the yummi welcome surprise, this was one of the many ways you showed us how much you cared about your customers.
The cabin is wonderful, the drive up to the cabin was unique to us, but after a couple of days we got used to it.
I appreciate all that you put into creating such a great stay for our family vacation.
We took a last minute trip to Antler Cabin over the July 4 weekend. The owners were wonderful to work with! The road to the cabin is a little bit narrow and twisty, but it really was no problem for us. The kitchen in Antler Cabin is GORGEOUS!! we rented a boat from one of the local marinas and had a great day on Watauga Lake- I would definitely recommend that! The view from the deck overlooking the lake is SO worth the drive. Thank you so much for a wonderful family getaway!
My husband and I went with another couple – our best friends. We followed the very good directions up the mountain and just when you think you can’t go any further; this beautiful vista opens with the A-frame cabin, landscaped yard and an incredible view.
First, let me say that this is not an ordinary “cabin”. It’s someone’s luxury mountain home that they are graciously sharing. We’ve been renting cabins for decades and never experienced anything like this! It is obviously professionally decorated, but very comfortable and welcoming. The owners, Sean and Nammi, are very responsive and you can tell they love this place and want you to have a wonderful time.
The kitchen is to die for! Better than my kitchen at home – I’ve never seen appliances like those. It is very well stocked (again, better than mine at home). They even had a pasta maker!! We decided to try it as a group project and had a great time drinking wine and making pasta – and it even tasted good!
We spent a lot of time on the deck looking at the views of the mountains and the lake. It is amazing how they change minute by minute. There’s a chiminea on the deck so we had a nice fire on the cooler evenings.
I would also recommend renting a pontoon boat and spending some time on the lake. We brought food and wine and really enjoyed the calm cool water, putting into the channels and we even were able to see our cabin from the lake!
Everything you could need or want is close by, but you feel like you’re in your own special oasis. One morning while we were having breakfast, we watched a fawn come out of the woods and into the yard to nibble on the flowers.
They have wifi, which was nice for those of us that had to check in at the office occasionally. TV had Netflix so everyone’s TV fix was met.
It was a perfect week; the only negative is that I’ll never be satisfied with the ordinary rentals again. We’re definitely coming here again next year!
We arrived on Thursday afternoon to the cozy and very clean cabin thanks to the lovely cleaning woman. After a long drive from Florida we were pleasantly surprised to find that Nammi and Sean had left our family all the ingredients for our first night's meal in their quaint kitchen. We have stayed all over the USA with VRBO and never experienced such kindness and graciousness. Thank you Nammi and Sean your act of random kindness was not lost on us:) We wake from a blissful night sleep in our king bed. (Nammi if have to tell me where you got that mattress) to head to Watauga Lakeshore Resort and Marina to pick up our ski boat we rented fro the day. We had a great time knee and wake boarding on this majestic lake of crystal clear water. We headed home tired and happy after basking in the sun just in time to enjoy watching the sunset on the lake from our deck with some chilled wine and fresh fruit and cheese. We enjoyed another home cooked meal as a family and reminiscenced about on time on the lake teaching our kids how to wake board. Sunday we headed out to Bristol for the NHRA Bristol Drag Way in Thunder Valley for Father's day. We enjoyed a great meal out after the race @ the Mad Greek Restaurant and really enjoyed it. Raced home to watch the sunset again on the deck and soak up the sounds of nature.Watched the NBA finals game (Go Cavs) and headed off to slumber Monday we headed out to white water raft with Watauga Kayak Co. our guide Lance took us on a relaxing and exciting level 2 rapids that is safe family and senior friendly fun. We jumped in the 40* water just for fun with our guide. Such a great way to end a wonderful trip. We headed back to the cabin for our last night with a great home cooked meal and dreaded leaving our home away from home. Thanks Tammy Runge
