About Pam Easter

We are Scott and Pam Easter. We are both Virginia Tech graduates and native Virginian’s. We met while in college and have been married for over twenty years. We have three incredible boys, ages 10 and twin 12 year olds. Scott has a bachelors degree in Civil Engineering and a masters degree in Structural Engineering. Pam has an Interior Design degree and previously owned a real estate title and settlement company at the lake and is very familiar with the area and all it has to offer. Scott is from the eastern part of the state and Pam is from right here in Southwest Virginia. Pam actually grew up on Smith Mountain Lake and developed her love of all things water from her youth. Similarly Scott grew up around the water, albeit saltwater, and also developed a passion for being on the water. We love boating, skiing, and fishing and fishing and fishing. Did I mention fishing? This beautiful home was our personal residence from 2003 until 2015. We custom designed and built (Scott is also a Class A Contractor) our home in 2003 so it reflects a lot of the character traits of family and fun that are integral to our lives. As life goes, Scotts business recently relocated further from SML which in turn required us to relocate our family. It pained us to think of leaving our oasis so instead of selling we decided to share this awesome property with others while maintaining our own ability to use it when possible.

Pam Easter purchased this estate in 2003

Why Pam Easter chose Huddleston

When we moved back to the area in 1998 we knew we wanted to be near the water. The only choice for us was Smith Mountain Lake. The lakes beauty, breadth and charm are unmatched in Southwest Virginia. We looked for sometime before finding our piece of paradise. We had specific requirements of the lot and this one had it all. We wanted decent acreage on the main body of the lake, wide water sunset views, some mature trees, light boat traffic, and space for kids to play. This property had it all and much more. The 1.4 acre property is located in a small eight lot subdivision on a cul-de-sac. The subdivision is only one mile from Parkway Marina which is the terminus of the peninsula that we live on. We are also just two miles away from the beautiful Smith Mountain Lake State Park.

What makes this estate unique

The property starts with the ball field at the top of the property. The ball field is a large flat grassy area ideal for playing ball and all sorts of yard games while maintaining a 180 degree view of the lake. A paved driveway with plenty of car and boat trailer parking leads to our beautiful home. The home was custom designed and built by us in 2003. The home was designed and oriented so that a view of the lake can be seen from most everywhere within it. The character of the inside of the home is one of a lake lodge with its three two way fireplaces, hardwood floors, large open spaces, custom kitchen, incredible entertainment areas and views galore. The main level has a rear screened porch and deck along with a beautiful front porch. The lakeside of the home is nothing short of spectacular. Our home features a large fenced in yard with playground for the kids. The lower patio has large hut tub and covered swing. Beyond the fenced in yard lies beautiful Smith Mountain Lake. Our dock has everything you need. The dock is a covered two slip dock with a large uncovered fixed dock and a floating dock. Our property is located at the main body of SML where the tributaries feeding it merge. The water is deep, clean and pristine for water enthusiasts. Our property is as unique as Smith Mountain Lake itself.

Notes:
SML STATE PARK: Our home is located less than 3 miles from Smith Mountain Lake State Park, easily one of Virginia's most beautiful State Parks. The park has a beautiful beach, miles of incredible hiking trails, play grounds, kids activities, museum about the lake and in the summer Blue Grass music on the weekends. During the Christmas season (usually early Dec), the park celebrates the annual boat parade (Floatilla for Toys) with activities for the kids, roasting marshmallows, crafts, etc. Also great place for a morning jog! DOCK: The covered boat dock features the following: ample deck area, floating dock, deck furniture, 8 person picnic table, storage room/cabana w/ refrigerator, microwave, bar area, speakers connected from house, hose on dock (pumped from lake and great for filling up kiddie pool!!); Underwater green light fishing light....it's like watching an aquarium at night.

Best family vacation ever!

  • 5 of 5

The home is gorgeous and clean and has everything needed for ages 1-100. We did our family vacations at Nags Head for 20 years. Now everyone wants to return to this home and Smith Mountain Lake! Wouldn't change a thing or offer any recommendations!

PERFECT IN EVERY WAY!

  • 5 of 5

Our combined families from VA and SC came together for 4 nights for our annual Christmas get together at this wonderful home. The owner is exceptionally easy to work with, answers questions right away and works hard to make your stay memorable. When I mentioned we were coming together for Christmas, the owner said she would leave up the decorations as she had for the guests before us. What a nice touch to have a beautiful fully decorated home for our January gathering. The home is spacious and beautiful but also very comfortable and inviting. The layout is perfect for different activities and the design allows for amazing lake and sunset views. The hot tub was a daily hit as was the outdoor fire pit (lots of firewood provided). We brought our camp chairs to use around the fire but never unpacked them, the owners have plenty of seating provided and extra chairs in the closet. The dock also has a great layout with large table, swing, boathouse with equipment, paddle boat (which we used daily) and kayak. The nighttime fishing light is fun entertainment as it draws the fish towards it. The men played hours of pool, the kids played many of the board games and loved the play set outside, meal prep was easy with the well equipped kitchen and the sound system was a nice extra that was great for the hottub and even out on the deck. We loved the large dining table and having a fire in the double sided fireplace during our holiday meal. We watched six deer meander by the house one evening and a duck visited us on the dock. A very peaceful place indeed. The fact that there isn't WiFi turned out to be a blessing. Cel phones work just fine and if you have a smart phone you can still get on the internet. But we found that everyone decided to put their phones down and enjoy our time together. Our group ages 1 through 73 really made the most of the trip. This was our first visit to Smith Mtn Lake but certainly won't be our last. We all can't wait to return to this home for another gathering, maybe in the summer next time so we can enjoy more of what the lake has to offer. The owner really thinks of everything for a perfect visit.
