Incredible views of the Susquehanna River. The house was clean, cozy and comfortable. Overflow parking was nice as we had our boats and we were able to park them safely each night.
Everything was amazing the host thought of everything you could have needed during your stay! Loved the cozy feeling of the space and the beautiful lake view. Perfect for a family fall vacation!
Beautiful property with excellent outdoor space. We loved the charm of this house and the kids loved the loft space for sleeping and hanging out all together. Looking forward to staying at this property again in the future!
I can only say the place was awesome- slightly older house but with great updates and anything and everything you would need was supplied or at the house- we will be back for sure!!!!
This is an awesome place to stay. The host are top notch an if you send a message asking something about the place they respond quickly. This makes my 4th time staying there an each time was great.
My family and I just got home from staying at this spot in Dauphin. I was looking for a place that would accommodate all six of us. My friend and I were attending a conference in Hershey and my husband and sons decided to come along to go to Hershey Park. We were about 30 minutes from Hershey. This home was super cute. An old cottage built in the 1930’s I think and recently updated. Many lovely aspects from its golden days still present throughout, which I loved. Two bathrooms, two bedrooms plus additional sleeping area upstairs in a loft location. It’s located right on a river and has a Beautiful porch with ample space to enjoy the view. Kitchen is well stocked at there is a washer/dryer in one of the bathrooms. VERY clean! Great communication with host Pam. Our bed was just ok. Firm but not a comfy firm. Plenty of additional blankets to use to sit outside on the porch in the still chilly air. It’s close to the highway so you can hear traffic. We were bummed that the gas fire place didn’t work when we arrived despite Pam coming over to give it a try. Overall, it’s a lovely cottage and met our needs.

Thank you for your feedback! I am sorry the fireplace wasn’t working during your stay. As you indicated, I did come by to try to resolve it at the time, and after your departure, I was able to identify and correct the issue, which turned out to be that a switch had been turned off underneath the fireplace. The fireplace is now fully operational. I appreciate you bringing this to my attention and I hope to provide a smoother experience for my guests in the future. I appreciate your understanding and hope to host you again.
This is an absolutely amazing and relaxing property. There is no need to go anywhere - just setting by the water and enjoying the views is all you need. I only wished we had more time to truly enjoy.
We stayed at the River House for a long weekend with extended family while in the area for a wedding at Manor at Mountain View. The location was ideal. The weather was hot (90s) but the covered porch with overhead fans, water views and adequate AC were all great for relaxing and catching up.
Took our 2 sons, daughter in law, and 5 grandchildren on a short family vacation. Everyone had a great time. The home was clean, stacked with all necessities needed. The scenery was awesome. The kids enjoyed every minute.

About the host
Hosted by Pam Cruey
I grew up Northwest of Pittsburgh in a small town surrounded by rivers and mountains. My family had a house in the woods, nestled in a hollow with a lovely creek running through the property. I spent my childhood outdoors, climbing trees, swimming in the river, and playing in the creek! I still love the outdoors (but no longer climb trees!) and have a house just down the road from this cottage. I have bees, chickens, and dogs, Daisy and Otis - a menagerie of furry friends that keep me busy and entertained. I am forever grateful to have my daughter, son-in-law, and my grandson living just 20 minutes away from me, and I get to enjoy them and their company often. I have been blessed with an amazing family and fabulous neighbors here on River Road and cannot imagine living my life anywhere else!
Why they chose this property
When I built my own house in 2007 and first moved to the River Road area, I fell in love with this cottage when I would walk past it. It was of course owned at that time by someone else, but I thought about how lovely it would be to own it myself one day. The house was originally built in 1939 as a summer home for a Harrisburg family and is filled with character! The woodwork throughout the house and fabulous deck out back intrigued me, and I knew it would be a great place to entertain. When it went up for sale in 2015, I made an offer on day one! I knew I could give this cottage what it needs - some time/attention, a little love, and fill it with people who would enjoy the river and the relaxing peace this cottage has to offer. I hope that you enjoy this cottage as much as I do!
What makes this property unique
RELAXING ATMOSPHERE! That's the best way to describe this property! I pride myself in offering excellent service to my guests which can be seen in the positive reviews I have received.
