Why Richard Greer chose Old Saybrook
Lovely and pristine getaway, in a cherished family home for decades.
What makes this House unique
Our family fell in love with this beach front home because of its extraordinary views as well as the graceful floor plan, that is perfect for both entertaining a large group or cozy and alone. We have enjoyed many summers as well as holidays in this quiet and peaceful setting, relaxing to the sound of the waves breaking on the beach wall.
The property was in great shape and Richard (the owner) was very nice and willing to help if we had any issues. As noted, the property was excellent so there were no issues on the stay. Overall it was a great house/location! Plenty of room for our 8-10 guests throughout the weekend.
time out with the ocean
This is our 3rd year staying at the Gulls. As always loved the view of the water and especially the lightning storm we had one night. Went out to eat at all our favorite restaurants but still had the opportunity to cook in with a fully fitted kitchen. Would recommend this home to all my friends. Thank you Richard for a wonderful stay and the gift basket.
Wonderful Property for "Girls" Weekend
We are five "senior" women who graduated college together in the 60's (!) and get together annually for a long weekend. We picked this property because of its location near the ocean and the number of bedrooms/bathrooms. We were very happy with the house - it was clean, the common areas were large and comfortably furnished, the kitchen was well appointed and stocked and having multiple bathrooms was a big plus. We spent time sitting outside on the patio enjoying the view and walking the lovely neighborhood. Over the years we have stayed in many wonderful properties, and we agreed that this was one of the best.
Once again I had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful house. It is large, comfortable and in the ideal location of Old Saybrook. I wish I had "discovered" this area a long time ago. I'm from Massachusetts and have spent many long, boring hours driving to the Cape and Maine over the years. Who knew I could travel just over an hour to a place that is just as nice if not better. There are so many things to do and places to see in this lovely town. Staying in this house is an absolute joy and we wanted for nothing. There are many windows with fantastic views and I love the homey atmosphere of the house. The owner is a great guy who is quick to respond to any question or issue, plus he's so easygoing and nice. I love how he places the welcoming gifts for you to have upon arrival. So thoughtful and special. This is not something you regularly encounter when renting a vacation home. If you're lucky enough to secure a stay here, just do it. You won't regret it, I promise!
Couldn't be better!
The house is fantastic, as I said last year. It's so roomy and comfortable and in a perfect location. The best part is the owner, Rich, who is a great guy. He makes sure your stay is wonderful, from the welcoming gifts to his availability should you have any questions at all. When I'm at the Gulls, I feel like I am visiting family. I can't imagine a summer without the Gulls ever again. Thank you so much Rich! You're the man...
Wonderful, spacious home with gorgeous water views!
We had such a wonderful stay in this very spacious, well appointed home. Everything we needed was provided... plenty of bed linens, towels, dishes and cookware, 2 refrigerators. The A/C throughout the house was great. There was plenty of room for privacy as well as spacious common areas for gathering, dining, playing games etc. Several of our group enjoyed our morning coffee on the patio while soaking up the sun and the gorgeous views of the water. The yard was big enough for a family game of soccer. We had a great time at the beach, swimming out to the dock, lying in the sun, playing with the little hermit crabs and collecting tiny sea shells. My husband and son fished from the pier. It was also very convenient to have picnic tables and a port-o-potty right at the beach and plenty of community use sand toys for the kids. We took advantage of the wonderful walking paths along the road/water. We really enjoyed the village of Old Saybrook. We attended a fantastic arts festival on Main Street and enjoyed a few of the restaurants as well. Mystic Seaport was a great day trip attraction. We had an excellent multi-generational family vacation. We hope to stay there again. We highly recommend it!
Historic Old Saybrook where the Connecticut River meets the Long Island Sound is a classic New England sea side community and is well known for its abundance of stately shingled homes and historic districts. Conveniently located between Boston and New York city, Old Saybrook has long been a haven of summer retreat. The historical town center features charming shops and restaurants, several historic churches and most notably The Kate (the Katherine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center) which is famous for its theatrical productions, live music performances, and classic movie showings all year long.
