Why Richard Greer chose Connecticut

Lovely and pristine getaway, in a cherished family home for decades.

What makes this house unique

Our family fell in love with this beach front home because of its extraordinary views as well as the graceful floor plan, that is perfect for both entertaining a large group or cozy and alone. We have enjoyed many summers as well as holidays in this quiet and peaceful setting, relaxing to the sound of the waves breaking on the beach wall.

Wonderful, Spacious, Cozy Stay

  • 5 of 5

From people who stayed:

- Incredible place. The kitchen and living room especially invite big groups of people together for food, games, and music. Comfy bedrooms, one with a nice small deck on the second floor for night stargazing (night sky was filled with stars in Old Saybrook). The Wifi was slow in some rooms. The host was very accommodating, pleasant, and respectful. I'm grateful we were able to find this and would book it again in an instant.

- I loved that front room with water view. It had a ton of comfy places to sit and it was the best place for all of us (to fit) and be with one another but also enjoy the location (i.e. water).

- Accommodating spaces with abundant daylight (vitamin D). Great access and views to the Sound. WiFi terribly weak and interior lighting could be vastly improved with appropriate LED bulbs that save great electricity costs for lighting.

- ditto (above)

- Great spaces and great views in great location. Beautiful sunrises. Well equipped kitchen. Plenty of showers. Very helpful and accommodating owner. Fun New England town to explore. Highly recommend.

- Ditto the above, add horrible Internet speeds

Great Week

  • 5 of 5

We came from Indiana to celebrate my 70th birthday with my sons and their families - one lives about 45 minutes from Old Saybrook and the other lives in NYC. There were 6 adults and 5 grandkids (ages 4 to 13) and everyone had a wonderful time. The house is spacious, comfortable, has everything you need and everyone wants to come back! The sunrises and sunsets over LI Sound were "kodak" moments and being on the water is extra special. The grandkids especially enjoyed the walks along the Sound, playing on the the nearby beach and playing in the spacious front yard. We thoroughly enjoyed the house and our week in Old Saybrook.

Warm, Home with Character. Views from the windows are Amazing. Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

5 Nurse Managers came here to work for a weekend without distraction. The home was spacious and clean and had any thing you needed to cook with! Just a wonderful place to rest and enjoy, of yes we had to work too. The views out of the picture windows were amazing. Changing weather, sun, boats, lighthouse...just to name a few. We could walk by the water for breaks in the day. But this house would be great for families. Very generous on supplies of plates, cook wear, linens. The house has Warm Charm and Character. WE all want to come back with our families. Great Location. Enjoyed the little town shopping and restaurants. The owner was very responsive and answer text quickly.

Wonderful Vacation!!!

  • 5 of 5

We rented the house at the beginning of October for 5 days as we were attending a wedding in the area. There were 9 adults and 3 children, and it was plenty of space for everybody. We enjoyed our stay very much. The house is lovely and very clean. It did not feel like a rental, it felt like home, cozy, warm and beautiful. The kitchen is equipped with everything one might need, and more. Spectacular views from most of the rooms, especially from the living room and sun room. Everything was very comfortable. There was a whole closet full of clean towels of very good quality. The water pressure in the shower was just right. Patio furniture was nice, clean and enough for all of us. There were games, books and even toys for the kids, that we all enjoyed. Richard is a wonderful host, he walked us through the rental details before we booked, I thought it was very thoughtful of him. He was available for our questions, it was nice to know that we can contact him if we need. We did not have any issues during our stay. I was surprised to find out that the water in the ocean was still very warm, we were swimming a lot, and took long walks along the beach.

I would definitely recommend the house. We are planning to come back next year. The house is meant to be enjoyed, so we did.

Beautifully kept and appointed

  • 5 of 5

The home was warm and welcoming, not the run of the mill beach home. Clean and well appointed. Kitchen has any appliance you could think of. Plenty of dining space for entertaining friends and family. Bathrooms with fresh towels and soaps. Very clean. The living room and sun porch as I call it have wonderful ocean views and actually sitting on the couch and looking out at the water one feels they are on a cruise ship. The master bedroom and bath were wonderful as well as all the sleeping space upstairs. A perfect time of year for a relaxing early fall getaway. I would recommend this property to friends and family.

Great Time In Old Saybrook

  • 4 of 5

Had a fantastic time. House completely equipped. Found the property to be just what I thought it to be, it was clean and ready for us well before check in time. Dealing with Richard was a pleasure, he called to go over everything and to make sure his property was what I wanted before I booked, which I thought was a nice thing to do. Also he gave me his cell # in case I had any issues (which I didn't). It was a good feeling to know that he was available. Everyone in my family enjoyed our week.

Historic Old Saybrook where the Connecticut River meets the Long Island Sound is a classic New England sea side community and is well known for its abundance of stately shingled homes and historic districts. Conveniently located between Boston and New York city, Old Saybrook has long been a haven of summer retreat. The historical town center features charming shops and restaurants, several historic churches and most notably The Kate (the Katherine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center) which is famous for its theatrical productions, live music performances, and classic movie showings all year long.
