The Cowboy Cottage is located about 6 miles from the Plaza in the beautiful village of Tesuque. Tucked away in the hills near the Santa Fe Opera, it is a truly unique and charming property which features two other available guest houses and small chapel. If you have a larger group and are interested in renting our other spaces concurrently, please feel free to contact us.
What would an old ranch be without a place for the cowboys? This cottage has a studio layout and is the perfect size for one guest or a couple. Tucked back behind our other guest houses, the Cowboy Cottage has two outdoor spaces. The first one you will find located right in front of the entrance with just enough shade to keep you cool during the warmer months. Through the front door is a sweet built in window seat with table. A small seating area sits beside it and leads to the adorable kitchen. With all the essentials but on a slightly smaller scale, you should be able to whip up simpler meals in between your jaunts into town. The bathroom is on the smaller side and it should be noted that it might not be the most comfortable fit for anyone over 6 feet tall. Please inquire with us if you would like information about our other guest spaces if this is the case. The bedroom is located off the living space and is a large open area with built in banco, desk, closets and the queen-sized bed. The fireplace is not currently operable. Two french doors open out to the covered porch which faces the large lawn and private chapel.
There is plenty of outdoor space to enjoy located around the property. Just a quick walk up a path and you`ll arrive at the large lawn which surrounds a small private chapel. Settle in under the large apricot tree or relax on the hammock nearby. Across the driveway are our resident alpacas who will look on with curiosity as you are traveling around the property. The property is also home to our on-site property managers, Jeff and Lauren and their two young children.
Please don`t hesitate to contact us with any questions.
Amenities include:
Small kitchenette with cooktop, small refrigerator, sink, microwave, coffee maker and tea kettle Dining table seats 2 Queen sized bed Desk Back portal tables seat 6 Adjacent to chapel lawn with additional outdoor seating Side portal contains small table and seating for 2 Small bathroom with shower
Fireplace is not currently in working order and unavailable for use.
Guests will have full access to The Cowboy Cottage as well as use of several other outdoors spaces.
My family and I live in a house on the property and will be available during your stay. We try to give our guests plenty of space but typically like to stop by and introduce ourselves at check-in. Update: Due to covid - we provide contactless check in and check out but are available if needed.
The Cowboy Cottage is located on a large property and while you can conveniently access Santa Fe, it is feels like you are nestled away. The small village of Tesuque has two restaurants (one more casual, and another more formal) and a great foundry and sculpture garden. Most of the entertainment will be found in Santa Fe.
Guests will need a vehicle to get around comfortably although guests have had success using Uber for the occasional trip.
The winters here can be rather snowy and we recommend that guests have a 4WD or at least an AWD vehicle during the winter months. While we provide snow removal, the roads can be pretty slick.

Charming Cowboy cottage outside of Santa Fe in Tesueque. A very relaxing weekend getaway of a concert and horseback riding at the Eaves Movie Ranch. The place is quiet and you can relax in the hammock in the backyard and if you are lucky, you may see deer walk through the backyard. It is a cottage so it is small. The bathroom and shower is like being on a ship. But it served the purpose of what I needed. I am a morning coffee person. The lack of creamers and no sweeteners were a minor inconvenience, but the Tesque Market is just a few minutes away where you can get a hot cup of coffee and breakfast. Would definitely stay at again and highly recommend to others.
The cabin was adorable, the Chapel made it feel like we were staying in a different country. They have made a garden in the dessert. It was quite beautiful and everything we hoped for.
We loved our time at the Cowboy Cottage. Accommodations are even nicer than the photos suggest. Pleasant and cozy.
The grounds are also beautiful and it was fun to check out the alpacas.
Highly recommended.
Beautiful grounds, loved exploring the neighborhood. So nice and quiet and peaceful. Chapel is so beautiful. Comfortable bed. Loved the alpaca! Very small but perfect for 2 who were planning to eat out meals!
What a gem of solitude, greenery and beauty this property is. The Cowboy Cottage was wonderful, clean, and charming; even better than described. The property grounds were a pleasure to walk around. What a wonderful oasis, and walking distance from Tesque and must a few miles from Santa Fe. Thanks to Lauren and her husband for such a great stay.
We loved the cowboy cottage. Though there are other rentals right next door, feels very private. Loved the chapel and the apple tree. The apples were delicious!! Also appreciated the proximity to Santa Fe. Why stay in a hotel when you could stay here?
The Cowboy Cottage was just a delight! Minutes from the opera! The cottage was cozy and comfortable with 2 wonderful patios. Lots of birds to watch if youvare a birder.
The cottage was exactly as described. Very clean, charming, and perfectly sized for a couple. The host was super responsive and accessible. The property is absolutely lovely and we highly recommend enjoying your morning coffee outside on one of the many seating options and taking in the views. HIGHLY RECOMMEND staying here! The location is central to everything as well! 😁💛
Uniquely charming cottage. The surrounding property is beautiful, well-kept and quiet. The bed was comfortable. The kitchenette had everything we needed for our meals (mainly breakfasts). There are two porch areas facing different directions. It is very close to the opera. The host was a good communicator.
Really quiet location well off of HWY 285. Accomodation was quite homey. Lots of pillows and "cowboy" stuff. Great written information about the property and amenities.
Plenty of storage and seating. Saw a nice six point buck in velvet eating from the fruit tree on my departure.

Truly Magical
Our stay at Cowboy Cottage was magical, charming and very comfortable. A marvelous collection of folk art ornaments the property, both inside and out. The grounds are very beautiful, abounding in flowers, fruit trees, greenery, wildlife, and interesting sitting areas. Visiting the alpacas was always great fun. Our hosts were very friendly, kind, and sensitive to our needs. We absolutely loved it!

So glad you enjoyed your stay and thank you for the wonderful review!
My 9 year old son and I drove up to Santa Fe on a boys ski trip. We wanted a cool cabin / man cave rather than a pricy hotel. I’ll tel ya, this was better than the priciest of hotels. Super cool!!! That and the wildlife was a stunner. I highly recommend this spot.
This place was heaven to my husband and I. The grounds were beautiful. The cottage was the cutest place I’ve ever been in. The church in the back warmed my heart.
From the moment we arrived the wildlife and beauty awed us. From hummingbirds, elk and bunnies ( oh and the alpacas) we were just smiling in constant excitement of being so close with nature. We would 100% go back again!
Overall the property and location are perfect. We suggest that a deeper clean is in order for the cowboy cottage. We will return in hopes that there will be some attention to detail around the “edges”. Lots of clutter. We just piled pillows out of the way. We look forward to our next visit.
If you are going to the Santa Fe Opera, this is a great location. It's a 5 minute drive to opera and about 15 minutes to downtown Santa Fe. The casita has everything you need for your stay. Being an older building, there is no air conditioning. The temperature was in the 90's and the fan provided some relief. It was hard sleeping. I would stay there again in the cooler months.
Loved the location and property but there were issues with the house.
Problems with the wiring of the house. A fuse blew whenever the TV and the convection oven were on at the same time, the bedroom lights stayed on even if I turned the switch off. Scary and disappointing.

Hi Jennifer,
I am very sorry you had issues with the house. It is an old house and we do have occasional issues with the fuse when the heater runs. The light switch in the bedroom has a dimmer which has to be pressed down completely for the lights to turn off, which I assure you they do. I wish you would have reached out to us when you were staying. Had we have known, we would have gladly moved you to another house so you could enjoy the rest of your visit. Unfortunately, we cannot correct an issue we don’t know about and we cannot remedy an experience when we aren’t alerted there is a problem.
A peaceful and special to stay right outside of Santa Fe
My partner and I stayed here for three nights during a road trip in New Mexico. The location was perfect - it’s a quick 10 minute drive to Santa Fe plaza but the property is tucked away in a quiet, beautifully landscaped area. We loved saying hello to the Alpacas and enjoying morning coffee in the outdoor space where there is a beautiful chapel and ample spots to meditate, read, and take in the peaceful moments. The cottage is perfect for two people with a very comfortable bed and various outdoor spaces available to enjoy. We saw a large buck one morning that came to grab fruit that fell from the fruit tree right off of the back patio. The bathroom is small like stated in the description but worked fine for us. The cottage houses many Southwest themed items, pictures, books, and art. The multitude of items in the home did cause dust allergies for us during the fall allergy season. Otherwise our stay was perfect and will recommend it to friends coming to visit the area!

Wonderful Stay at Cowboy Cottage
My husband and I rented Cowboy Cottage for 5 nights in August. We absolutely loved it. Lauren sent us very clear location
directions and check-in information and came by to check on us to be sure we were happy with the accommodations and
to see if there was anything else we needed. The photos don't do the property justice. It is much more beautiful. The cottage
has obviously been decorated by someone with great taste and attention to detail. It was spotlessly clean. We also loved the Tesuque location. It was a super easy and quick drive into the Santa Fe Plaza area. It took less than 10 minutes. We really enjoyed late afternoons sitting under the trees, the hammock and the 2 porches, enjoying wine and relaxing before dinner. Can't forget about the alpacas. They are
so cute and we had fun feeding them baby carrots everyday. I was hesitant to rent this property because it was not air conditioned.
We are from Texas, so we are used to summer indoor temperatures in the 60's and winter indoor temperatures in the high 70's.
But even in August, no air conditioning was not a problem in the cottage. They had a fan that was more than adequate and was not even needed at night. As other guests have mentioned, the bathroom is small. But my husband is 6 ft. and weighs a little over 200 lbs. He did not
have any complaints. The grounds and flowers are beautiful and beckon you to be outside. Just being there makes you smile.
Can't get much better than that. We will definitely return.
