Our family and 2 pups had an amazing time at this home. The view from the great room is gorgeous, and your eyes are constantly drawn to the lake view. Covered back porch was a great spot to sit and talk or read a book. The property sits in a quiet cove and the dock has its own swimming area. My kids had a great time fishing off the dock, and we rented a pontoon boat that was delivered right to the dock for us. The home is clean and feels just how an older lake house should. My kids said it felt like we were visiting their grandparent's house, and it did based on the layout and appliances. We felt it was charming and really enjoyed the home. Interaction with the host was easy and responsive. Would love to stay here again.

If you are looking for a traditional classic lake home that has 1970s vibe then this is the home to consider. It is charming and beautiful view. The upper dock is older, so wear shoes on dock, but nice swimming platform and quiet cove. The inside the house is dated, but all appliances work and clean inside. Overall nice stay, and quiet area.

Lake view was gorgeous, and we loved being able to bring our dog, and be with friends. However the house had not been thoroughly cleaned. Cobwebs in the corners on the floors of the bathrooms, kitchen utencils put away dirty, same with pots, pans, and coffee mugs. We were quite disappointed, as we we're gathering with 3 other friends, and we were in charge of the rental. Also one of our friends was hoping to take a kayak out. Neither one was usable. One had a taped hole, and the other was too warped . Both were very dirty.

We enjoyed our quick stay to Lake Norman with our dog. The house is just as described, outdated but cozy with a dock and access to the lake. We slept well as the house was dark and quiet, on a quiet area of the lake--or maybe because it was during the week vs. the weekend. The house was close enough to amenities--we explored Birkdale Village and Denver, but also felt like we were worlds away.

The space was great! It just rained the entire time we were there so we couldn't really use much of the outdoors space. The heated fans in the bathrooms were the highlight oddly enough lol. Thank you again for the stay! We may be returning!

I love this place!! I’ll definitely be back! It was so cool to be right on the lake and be able to see it from most every room in the house! This is an older lake house and that’s exactly my vibe I felt right at home and comfy. My pup and I had a blast paddling around the lake on the paddle board, we really enjoyed that. Just a lovely place, a lovely stay and we really loved it!

About the host

Hosted by Martha Wilcox

Host profile image
My name is Marty and I manage my families rental properties here on Lake Norman. I am originally from West Virginia but made Lake Norman my home in 2015. I manage the 3 rentals on the property for my family, and live close by to easily over see them all. I am also a licensed real estate agent in the area. If you are potentially interested in residing in the area please do not hesitate contacting me for more local information!

Why they chose this property

This property really allows you to experience the beauty of Lake Norman with its open and inviting lay out. It has a 1.5 acre lot and large back porch. The house is slightly back in a cove, but just around the corner is open water and the main channel. Being in a cove, the house is very relaxing and quiet. My favorite part is the fact the house faces the west and you get the most breathtaking sunset!

What makes this property unique

The house has a very open floor plan and glass sliding doors that give you a full view of the lake from where ever you are in the house. It was built in the 1960s, so I would definitely say it has a retro and unique vibe. For example, the house has a surround sound intercom system you control from the kitchen and can hear from any room! Turn on the local FM station and you can jam throughout the whole house! The house also has an indoor fire place and an outdoor fire pit. I also have included a propane grill, with 2 picnic tables (one on the patio, one on the dock) and patio furniture so ample enjoyment is possible. There are also kayaks and a paddle board!

The dock has 2 ladders for you to go in and out of the water. It has a picnic table at the end, and a floating piece to attach a boat.

If you are interested in renting lake toys, I rent out the pontoon boat. Westport marina (very close to the house) rents out practically every water toy you can think of.
