Flooded basement is rampant with heavy smell of mold and moisture, stains on carpet, ceilings and walls. Place is full of bugs and critters, even in beds so you can have a nice surprise. After minutes there we decided to get out first thing in the morning. Checked into hotel but had to have dogs there for a couple nights until I could find another place. Spent lots of extra money and hopefully getting some back from VRBO having to step in due to a non helpful owner. We never write negative reviews but have to tell the truth to spare others.

Watch out, theses guests are FREE LOADERS . They will book your place for 7days for lesser stay plan. Once they are ready to check out they will come up with list below. Then they will go home and dispute the charges. This couple have 3 kids. They did same thing with us last year. This year they came to us with a different name and appearance. Instead of 3 kids last year they reported only 2, while brought all 3 with them. We have out door surveillance and messages from them. We have 5 star rating on Airbnb. Unfortunately VRBO didn’t do good job to screen out theses scammers. They locked their dogs for days in our kitchen. The dogs ripped and messed up our carpet. We ended up paying $575 to get the place fixed. Our house is on the hill with walkout basement. There is no way our basement can get flooded.
They start making noise on 5th day of their 7 day booking. That is the time We realize this the same couple. Mostly they visit Rochester, MI. area in the month of July.
I will never let theses FREE LOADERS on my property. This time I made same mistake because of their mis information. Also they will not post their picture on the profile.
Overall a great place to stay- secluded and quiet with everything needed to feel at home. Initial check in and finding the entrance in the middle of the night was difficult- fortunately the host was able to help directly. Beds were firm and shower was great with plenty of hot water for four people. Hosts willing to supply any missing items. It sure beats the hotel scene.

Basement apartment
Property is in the basement of a fancy home in an upscale area. Close to restaurants and shopping. To enter you have to walk around to the back of the home on walking stones through the pool enclosure and enter through the French doors for the walk out basement. The basement apartment has 2 bedrooms and a nice but dingy bathroom.
The carpet is stained. The apartment is damp and smells bad.
The bathroom shower needs a good scrub. There were bugs on the carpet. Drywall fell down from the ceiling during my stay. The bedroom doors don’t close or are difficult to open.
The furniture is not comfortable.
There is a washer and dryer.
They allowed my dogs to stay which is the whole reason I picked this property but they allowed their own dog to roam off leash while we were there.
Would not stay again
We were attending my sons hockey tournament. The place was spacious, in a great neighborhood, close to downtown with many restaurant options. Ikus and her husband were very responsive and great hosts.
This was a beautiful property. The drive in was lined with trees, a hill, and a spacious parking area. Once parked, we walked around the home to the gated pool and back yard. The September day couldn’t have been more picturesque and the property was very welcoming. The indoor area was extremely spacious and cool. The only inaccuracy we found was the that this property was not in downtown Rochester as advertised.

Not a cottage... it’s a basement in someone’s home!
I was under the impression we would be staying in a private cottage for our family vacation. The listing said very private, but it was far from that. It was very uncomfortable. The cottage is rented out long term and they share the pool, although we didn’t see them. The homeowners were very nice, but it’s a weird feeling to be using someone’s pool and they are or can watch you from the house. It feels like being babysat. There are rules that aren’t given to you upfront. It’s not until you get there that you learn of them. The shower was very old and the handles and tiles were grimy. There was a huge clump of hair in the drain, bugs, and hair on the floor. I don’t think there is someone really cleaning like they should be when charging for it. The couch was also stained and that’s the only place to watch tv. I had to put towels to sit. None of the rooms have a tv. There are no curtains on the doors to enter the basement. At night it’s uncomfortable to be sitting or sleeping and someone could come look in. You have to walk down a steep hill and there is not a close entrance. We had to make probably 15 trips to get all of our stuff. Wasn’t expecting that. I have a baby and feel very unsafe going up and down the hill with her. This was the complete opposite of private!! We actually had to go stay the night other places bc we didn’t feel comfortable. This place is not what they are advertising!! I hate to write a bad review, but our vacation was not what we though it was going to be. It wasn’t fun. I don’t want someone else to have the same experience. Some people may not mind, but if you are looking for a private stay somewhere, this is not the place!! In the 15 years of renting vacation homes I have never experienced anything like this. Ask many questions before booking. Listing is deceiving!

It's a basement not a cottage. Walk to property is not very safe. There is a very steep hill and steps cannot be used because they are unfinished. When you enter the property, it appears nice until you look more in depth. You find out that it definitely should not be listed as sleeps 8. The pull out couch is not a bed at all. There is no bedding( mattress, blankets, sheets pillows ect.) and it appears to just be for a foot rest and it is a bit stained. The other supposed bed is to mattress pads on top of a bed frame. No complaints about the bedrooms. They were fine. The kitchen appeared fine as well. The bathroom appears to be clean except for the shower. The faucets are extremely grimey. There is a large build up of green, black, and white flakes on all of the shower hardware and the shower floor is brown. I brought this to the attention to the owner to give her a chance to fix this. She didn't reply for 2 hours. I sent here a third message just in case the first wasn't recieved. Then after 3 hours she comes down. When she finally came down, I took her to the restroom to show her my concern. She said it's just because its drawn on well water and I should do research on it because its probably my first experience with well water. She assumed. It's not my first experience with well water at all. I have used several well water showers and not even the community showers in my high school which was drawn off of well water have ever looked like this. They were cleaned properly and hundreds of kids used these showers. But I digress, lastly there was the fact we didn't have a useable trashcan in the basement. Her house rules state you must use the trashcan at the front of the house so you must walk up the unsafe steep hill to through away any garbage you have at the front of the house. And you must ask for garbage bags because they were not provided automatically. The positives I can say were the pool is really nice, and the fire pit and grill are nice amenities but us must provide your own propane to use it. I cannot comment on how it was actually operated I didn't utilize these. But they looked good. It's also a private location but you will not be completely alone. The owner still has guests over and other people were using the pool as well during our stay. Nice people though. I also got to see a couple deer. Common to see on the property. Tried to be fair but honest in this review.
We enjoyed ourselves in this basement hideaway. The pool was amazing, kitchen was well stocked to cook, and the space was very spacious. The homeowner was very polite and helpful as well!
Loved our stay! Beautiful property and well taken care of. I would stay again.
This is a HUGE! basement with everything! Can sleep 8 people plus. We loved our time here.
Only negative feedback are the mattresses can be updated not the most comfortable. Also you have to get use to the well water that smells terrible in the sink (sulfur odor). Showering is different if you’re not use to it. I feel like my families skin was affected by it (dried out our skin).
